Such an easy win

How does a show with such middling-to-subpar writing, cliche plots, abundance of shit jokes, unremarkable animation, and flat characters manage to be the highest rated show on Nick and even nab a theatrical movie release in 2020?

Simple. It had zero competition. Modern Spongebob is fuckin bullshit, but it still gets insane ratings and is viewed as "the standard" for Nick. All Loud House had to do was beat that dead show in the ratings just ONCE and it found itself on the fast track to longevity and network favoritism. It's like pitting a kid against a paraplegic old man in a race.

Chris Savino merely had to make a show with JUST enough visual difference from the myriad of noodle-armed bullshit modern toons, have a super-relatable family-oriented premise, and the novelty of a show with 11 main characters.

Harvey Beaks, Sanjay and Craig, Breadwinners, Even Fairly Odd Parents - all dead shows.

A fuckin B- show got the ratings and network treatment of an A+ smash hit.

GG, Chris Savino

Actually, it hit because it's the first family friendly cartoon after a major clusterfuck of autistic ones.
Also shows that people don't want complicated shit, even simple is fun.

People want to fuck the characters

Plus there's a shitload of pandering to race, LGBT, & now literal retards.

Well that goes into what i'm sayin'. It doesn't have any of these inflammatory elements that toons like Adventure Time have. It's not some CalArts circle-jerk.

It doesn't really do anything new and the writing is so play-it-safe, but in 2017 with all these hippie-dippie toons, it was better by default

Yeah, I'm startin' to see it falling on that slippery slope.

They were walkin' on egg shells by showing Clyde's dads and trying to portray homosexuals in as casual a manner as possible.

But then they go and make one of the main character bi out of nowhere it and almost comes off as disingenuous, especially since the character in question has had the least screen time and development of the bunch - almost felt like a last saving grace for her character, or lack thereof.

"Fuck it, just make her bi, I guess"

For the record, I don't hate Loud House, its a decent show with nice music and a cool comic strip aesthetic, but damn does it have some 2008-level writing. The voice acting is less-than-remarkable, too. It's serviceable, but I ain't gettin' no chuckles from these deliveries.

>How does a show with such middling-to-subpar writing, cliche plots, abundance of shit jokes, unremarkable animation, and flat characters manage to be the highest rated show on Nick and even nab a theatrical movie release in 2020?
simple!
it's the appeal of such a show. It's a down to earth show in a time where everything hast to be magical or weird and crazy.
It's just a boy with sisters in a city. The same reason people liked Hey Arnold. It's normal relatable. it gives you the feeling of being young again. Only Lisa sucks in this equation - get it?.
Simply this

>tfw your waifu would pick a girl over you

Harvey Beaks didn't even get a chance.

fuck off this was a great ending. And it just gives the possibilities for the writing team to make new stories

"It's so fucking basic, its genius!"

They can make approximately one new story about Luna pursuing her lady friend, then they'll kick in to play-it-safe mode and treat the relationship as lukewarm as possible. And if they do anymore stories with this token lesbian, it'll be about how she moves away to live with her Mexican family, effectively writing her off the show.

maybe its because its a show with kid protagonists about family that is 100% comedy, so kids can relate and enjoy it at the same time.

I mean, it was trash anyway

hmm, maybe 50% comedy, 50% insipid shit

its a kid's show at the end of the day, user. kids don't share your same adult taste in humor. you need to step back from your monitor and realize that every now and then that's what cartoons are.

Nice reddit spacing.

Pedophiles.

It's got memetic incest on it so the jews make it look popular.

Mainly because the kids who watch this show likely live in a house with a ton of siblings. Boy identify with Lincoln while girls do with the sisters.
This show's premise is very relatable for some people.

The show is successful because you grow attached to the characters. Their limited exposure and basic archetypes are enough to grab your attention so that when they do get an episode centered around them that you feel satisfied as your lesser character finally is getting their time in the spotlight. Simplicity is often the best way to establish the relationships between characters

Two points on Bi Luna.

First, the episode isn't ultimately about her being Bi. It's about her being too nervous and lacking self-confidence to even put herself out there that she was going down a "What If?" path. The fact she's Bi is just a casual extra that again isn't focussed on as such because it's apparent that her family knows who Sam is so this isn't a dramatic In-Universe reveal. Especially as they didn't try to hype it up beforehand or even after like some other more desperate for brownie points shows, comics, and games are.

Secondly, from her design, background, to even a couple of passing casual lines, most just accepted that she was most likely to be Bi anyway. It would have felt far more out of nowhere if it was Lori, Leni, or Lincoln's younger sisters.

Loud House has plenty of competition, but just look at them. They're all obsessed with being quirky and weird visually. Even when it comes to shows I adore, such as Clarence, it's plain to see how much more immediately appealing the visual aesthetics are in Loud House.

CN in particular needs to stop with the weightless line art BS and make cartoons that pop again.

This. I don't see how people can be so blinded to see the obvious that's in front of their faces.

Nick and Chris Savino stamps characters no matter how empty or unimportant they are homo/les/bi/etc just to gain ratings and receive praiseworthiness for being "diverse" or having "depth", "personality", and "character".

Luna's lack of focused episodes and little screen time will forever hurt her because of the episode, L is for Love. She'll be first remembered as the bisexual of the 11 Loud children, not for her individual characteristics.

TLH is like a majestic wolf, while its competition is like those deformed little yapping dogs that mankind has bred into evolutionary dead ends and that remind you that there is no loving God.

>Modern Spongebob is fuckin bullshit
Seasons 9 and 10 were pretty fuckin' great dude.

This isn't like seasons 5-8 where a good chunk of the season was shit or mediocre.

But that said majestic wolf has some of its flaws.

Kids want cliche plots, abundance of shit jokes, and flat characters

It's a sensible chuckle cartoon.

Although I enjoy shitposting about it more than watching.

>complains about reddit spacing
>In a post with reddit.
I think the reddit meme is the stupidest, most unfunny, most not-insulting thing I've seen lately. But if you're going to complain about it don't fucking do it your post.

>Flat characters
They are one-dimensional characters, they are simple but not flat. Waifufags like to shit on other sisters.

Yes, like much of the canine family it occassionaly mounts an illegitimate hole, but overall it is still vastly superior to the shit networks throw at us today. Sans this and Star Vs there really is nothing to watch.

>he doesn't enjoy out of left field absurd'y shitty jokes mixed in with good ones and predictable regular kids show jokes
seriously though, the loud house has mastered the art of the anti-joke

This is true. Jesus how did the standards dropped so hard?!

Cultural malaise. Or to be precise, forced cultural and racial suicide.

same reason people that have watched more than 10 anime series start to think anime sucks now
the large majority of it has always been forgettable trash with a few highlights coming out of it and for some reason they assume every show was cowboy bebop or votoms
the last AT season might be good I guess, the writers all seem to have realized their shipping war was retarded and the show improved a lot after that finally ended

>Sup Forums forgets that kids exist

it's simple and relatable enough for kids with just enough fart jokes to keep them happy. it's not popular on the internet, but it's popular with children, which is what matters the most to networks.

Daily reminder that TLH is the most progressive cartoon currently airing.

it still hurts... at least we're getting a finale

Harvey Beaks should have been the new hotness. Why didn't kids like it? It was funny and good looking for a tv cartoon, and character design that were easy to remember. What else do kids now a days want?

I don't think anything comes close to SU in that regard.

But in the end we're just wallowing in shit either way. The whole industry needs to be put to the torch and reinvented.

SU has the "but they're aliens with no gender" excuse. TLH has an interracial gay couple and an episode about a bi character having a crush on a girl she liked. The most any other cartoon on tv has done is a background character being gay.

the episode was gags about the kids finding a love letter without knowing the source or who it was addressed to
there was about 30s at the end about being gay...
also gay parents is really the only explanation for clyde

I think it's the opposite and it's mostly desperately lonely people that project onto the characters. They see the dumb shit they do on the show and think "If my siblings didn't totally ignore me I'd do that stuff with them..."

""""""Progressive""""""

TLH also has a boy raised by said (((couple))) who is a clusterfuck of mental issues.

I like it because it's one of the few ,if only, sitcom type families that actually all seem to genuinely care about each other.

This is the core of the show's value. It feels genuine on an emotional level.

Maybe because it's a good SOL show? We don't get shows like loud House every often, but lore cartoons overshadows everything, so it's nice that shows like Loud House get the recognition it deserve.

Because it pandered to Sup Forums's two biggest fetishes, pedphillia and incest. Next thread.

LUAN THREAD

Gay couples need to be flawless and straight couples are allowed to be trailor trash

Mai comedy/guerilla warfare waifu.

Great point man

>We don't get shows like loud House every often, but lore cartoons overshadows everything

Pic related is a lore-driven cartoon everybody

TTG overshadows stuff?

The only thing TTG overshadows is CN's ratings.

Not in terms of quality, but CN spams it as often as it does for a reason, user

She's bi because Kevin Sullivan, a jew faggot, wanted to force his mental illness into the show to validate his sexuality to himself

That's the point, you can't say shows with worldbuilding and "muh feels" overshadow everything when the ones getting the most airtime are dumb, slappy comedies like SB, TTG and LH

That guys statement should have been "On Sup Forums, Lore is the thing that overshadows everything".

Except waifus. Waifus trump lore here. The main reason Gumball and Loud House even survived at all on Sup Forums can be put somewhat to Waifu's. The only reason most of Sup Forums started watching Wander over Yonder (too late) was because they saw a clip of Dominator swinging her hips during a musical number.

But I agree with the other guy ultimately. Shows like Avatar spoilt some people here and now they just can't appreciate a simple episodic comedy show now. There are folks here who will latch on to anything that even hints at an overarching murder mystery but call a comedy boring after a single episode.

Clyde's dads were already in the show, Cletus. Stop huffing paint.

>le fart jokes are ALWAYS BAD mr enter here btw

Not even gonna argue with you retards about it
About the diversity stuff, it is the only time I see it not being absolutely atrocious in a cartoon (see steban galaxy)
Like the episode about Luna, everyone HUR DUR DUR DUR LUNA IS BI DUR DUR and forgetting the episode is about being shy and having low self esteem to talk with someone you like
I can sure relate to that and I know many of you fags do tho
Even liking the show, I can say that it never had a spetacular episode

>the gay couples have mental issues

doesn't sound so progressive to me :^)

> it is the only time I see it not being absolutely atrocious in a cartoon

What you really mean is "i like this cartoon so it's okay but i dont like the other cartoon so its not okay there".

>this thread
And people think Sup Forumsmblr actually exists

Hell no dude, it is always awakward when their go out of their way with episodes like
>seeeee?! this character is gaaaaay his life is haaaaaard, seeeeeee?

the gay dads are just gay dads, there was never an episode about like, Loud sr saying
>no Linlcoln you can't play with clyde because of their kind!!!!!!

They're just gay

Yes, Adam Sandler, fart jokes are always bad. There's nothing inherently funny about any body function except maybe sneezing, and that's mainly because it's an easy way to show a character isn't stealthy.

>seeeee?! this character is gaaaaay his life is haaaaaard, seeeeeee?

that never really happens anymore. would you like to name a show?

>Yes, Adam Sandler, fart jokes are always bad.
but that's just false equivalency
Adam Sandler jokes are too close to reality to be funny
Fart jokes in cartoon are often more exaggerated, like someone throwing a diaper and it exploding likea nuke of green clouds and making the rooftop fly away
I'm just happy to see a cartoon with fart jokes again, last one that aired was panty stocking

On the scale of "how much of a blatant and embarrassing publicity stunt for brownie points it is to shove a gay character into the story for progressive points", with Richie in Static Shock being a 0 and "Bobby, you're gay" being a 10, Loud House ranks in around the 2 area.

Not a cartoon
But the last time I see this happening was in that black mirror episode San Junipero, that shit scuked dick

okay, so how do you tell the difference then? protip: i already told you the answer

Eh. I'd say TLH is a 4-6.

Do you honestly think that faggot wouldn't have stopped there? Not when he could force his desire for AIDS onto a main part of the cast? Fuck off back to tumblr and suck a dick, maybe Bernie will win if you donate another paycheck to him

Fart jokes are immature as fuck and the show abuses them. Ok, we get it, Liliy shits herself and it smells bad, do something else now

>are immature
it is a cartoon

t. cletus

That doesn't exempt them and regardless, they still overuse them and it's gotten old. Bodily function jokes are amateur and just shitty shock humor, it gets old quickly

>ad hom

And thanks for telling me you're retarded and have no argument.

Not even white by the way

Haven't seen the Luna episode yet, but as far as the dads go I agree that it's about a 2 or 3. The dads are goofy and cartoonish like everyone else, and the episodes don't rely on them being gay. One of them could have easily been a woman as long as they kept the same personalities.

>That doesn't exempt them
It does though. It's a cartoon for children, and children are, by definition, immature.

Loudfags are no better. First you were pedos, now you're Tumblr mixed with pedos, so the worst kind of shit that can be called "a fanbase". Both shows should die.
And this is the answer to OP's question. Not only on Sup Forums, the rest of the internet goes crazy drawing porn of the sisters plus a bunch of irrelevant background characters. That is the only appeal of that shit show.

No child is exactly alike and now you're projecting. There are some children whom are very mature for their age and there are some children who aren't. You even have adults whom are immature, the majority of this site for example. But that still doesn't justify the overuse of shitty and bland shock humor

>the fart jokes are bigger so they're funnier

This is why Family Guy has a fanbase, there are people who honestly think if you overblow a bad joke or drag it out then it's even better

AIDS isn't a homosex-only thing, Jesus. It's actually mostly prominent in junkies these days. Also, you have no real argument beyond "I get hugely upset when I see gays portrayed in media, even when it seems natural, but I can't justify this, so I must ad hom both the writer and my interlocutor." You have the reasoning ability of a small child.

Faggots are over half of all new HIV infections, not junkies. And you have no real argument beyond "REEEE THE FAGGOTS SHOULD BE IN THE SHOW" You're the one pissed off that someone isn't accepting that a faggot is trying to push his sexuality into a show so he can influence children. Fuck off

>Mostly prominent in junkies

Not according to reality

I would say it depends on how much you market it or if someone says a sentence that can be translated as "DID YOU KNOW I'M GAY?" in an unrelated conversation.

Despite the gay parents of the best friend and the Bi sister and that one kid with downs they had, they haven't gone swinging from the rafters saying you have to watch the show because they're in it ticking a box for you and that's all this character is. They aren't even acknowledged by any characters in the show, everyone just goes about their lives as normal.

Compare this to JK Rowling buckling down on retcons to her books at key publicity moments, or Bioware's mess in the latest Mass Effect where a character introduces themselves as Trans out of nowhere, or just like half of what Marvel have done with new takes on Legacy characters. There's a reason why people like Kamala compared to say Lady Thor or Iron Girl. She feels like a sincere attempt at a new character. The others exist only because they're "progressive".

There are obvious bits of pandering out there. But when you cry wolf at EVERYTHING that isn't a white straight male character, you are just as bad as the morons who cry foul at every white straight male character.

>a theatrical movie release in 2020?
Need a cite on this OP

Honestly, why would this bother you unless you actually wanted to have Male to Male sexual contact though? Or share a needle with your gay friends who you are unlikely to have based on you having a problem with them maybe having HIV in the first place?

> the rest of the internet

Well you're at least the first "they only like it for the waifus" complainer who has admitted that people like the show outside of Sup Forums.

No, Clyde has mental issues. Well, he goes to therapy, so interpret that as liberally as you want.

>One of them could have easily been a woman as long as they kept the same personalities.

In certain countries, they actually do dub the thin white one as a woman. Apparently Saudia Arabia and Russia hates the gays but are all aboard the BLACKED train.

deadline.com/2017/03/spongebob-loud-house-sherlock-gnomes-1202054433

It's not good though.

I mean, I took a look to see what all the fuss was about, and it's terrible. It's not funny. Maybe it would have been if I were still nine years old, but I'm not.

I mean, it clearly gets good ratings with kids, and that's cool. I find it fucking weird when people call it a good show, though, because it's just low tier as hell in terms of writing. Stuff can be popular with kids and still great, like Dexter's Lab or the old PPG or TT. Or Gravity Falls, which, no matter how meh the ending was and how Sup Forumsntrarian nu/co/ is willing to get about it, was great.

In summary, they've waited years for a cartoon to get Spongebob's viewing numbers and now that they finally have one they will milk it for all it's worth.

I expect a spin-off with Ronnie-Anne within two years, and the Funko Pop tier merch within one. Series will become Zombie Loud House after the movie like all other big shows they've had.

Your quads don't lie about that spinoff; that special was a backdoor pilot through and through. Most obvious merch will be kids' meal toys to promote the movie. As for how the show will be after the movie, I'd rather not think about it.

>All this mental gymnastics over the appeal of a fucking kids show

Guys...kids one record has always loved stupid shit and it rarey has shit to do with quality. Fucking Teen Titans Go is popular but you don't see threads asking what's its appeal. TLH doesn't do anything unique nor is it executed particularly well its just shit you turn on to keep kids quiet hence why the show had no traction online and the only adults who gush about it are pedophiles drawing porn and fanfiction.
