Because he sucks.

Because he's boring

They don't want to risk ruining his legacy.

Pretty sure there are at least 2, both in the middle age or something.

but during the stone age...

Mickey Mouse has no personality or jokes.

>"In 2002, Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida began production on an all new Disney animated feature titled The Search for Mickey Mouse. The plot of the film is said to involve Mickey (played by the now late Wayne Allwine) getting "Mouse-Napped", which results in Minnie Mouse (Russi Taylor) hiring Basil of Baker Street (fresh from the 1986 animated film The Great Mouse Detective) to help find him. Minnie, Basil, Donald Duck (Tony Anselmo), and Goofy (Bill Farmer) end up traveling the globe to find Mickey, all while encountering at least one character from every Disney animated film to exist at the time. Some of these characters would include Alice (Kathryn Beaumont) from Alice in Wonderland, Aladdin (Scott Weinger), and Peter Pan (Blayne Weaver)"
His own movie (that got canned) wasn't even going to be about him.

Because he's one of the worlds most famous and profitible icons and no one wants to risk that by making a product that even has the possibility of sinking or causing the slightest bad press and having him be associated with that.

Which kind of sucks. It'd be great to see a movie with a similar spirit to the old Floyd Gottfredson comics. Maybe give Oswald a proper reintroduction as well.

sounds interesting, but all the inconsistencies... for example how big Basil would be? Rodent sized or Human sized?

Human sized CGI mouse would be good only for horror movie.

He's not a character anymore. Just a corp mascot.

Don't worry when Mickey enter public domain someone's going to put him in a movie just to spite Disney

>when Mickey enter public domain
not happening in our lifetime m8

Mickey Mouse has had a pretty distinct personality for the past 5 years: A parody of his public image, a perfectionist that freaks out at the slightest sign of something going wrong, overly optimistic, etc.

They could easily make a comedy film based in the world of Mickey Mouse after the amazing track record Disney have had with the character.

He's more an icon than a real character.

Well he has but it wasn't in theaters. It's called the 3 musketeers,

Didn't Disney actually lobby (and succeed) to change copyright law to keep Mickey from entering public domain?

just if one don't read european comics.

They did. They continue to do so. We will be long dead before public domain Mickey happens
