Remember when everyone was losing their shit?

Saying how this would ruin childhoods by "millenializing" DuckTales or whatever the fuck?

And now it's shaping up to be a superior adaptation of the original comics?

it should have stayed a comic with that fucking shit puppet tier animation

The animation isn't great and we don't know about the writing. It could be that they use pop culture references or preachy stories about gril power.

Everything in the previews and shorts indicates it will be about adventuring and exploring the unknown. And the animation actually looks better with heavy use of toned colors. Where did the "gril power" fear even come from?

Sleep it off, Pudi

I like the art but the animation is shit

>>And now it's shaping up to be a superior adaptation of the original comics?
Barks or Rosa?

> Reminder women are not ALLOWED to be offensively motherly or traditionally feminine anymore

calm down the first episode isn't out until august. Trailers are supposed to get you hyped. Hopefully they do the show justice.

Not hard to be superior to shit.
Both comics and the old show are terrible.

The clips they've released look promising, but don't get too excited just yet. It's too early to say how the show will turn out, and hyping it up may just set yourself up for disappointment.

>tripple double
Why not both?

So's your life. But people do care about this

Literally looks like a transman

No not really.

This

oh come the fuck on and be honest. Who fucking gave a shit about Beakley before any of this? She was just the doting tertiary character who's biggest contribution was to bring Webby into the show just to have some female flavor to balance somewhat off the Huey Dewy and Luis. Not even furries cared about her, she only has 9 entries and Paheal and fucking 2 on e621 that isn't the new one

To be honest she reminds me of Nanny from Count Duckula

>Where did the "gril power" fear even come from?

cynism & low expectations

>Not even furries cared about her, she only has 9 entries and Paheal and fucking 2 on e621 that isn't the new one
you think they will care about her like that now??

Great argument

I completely forgot about this, how many episodes were released already?

> Where did the "gril power" fear even come from?

People are not really worried about that *by itself*, really. These character are such standard fare right now that even anti-swj edgelords feel more bored than threatened by now. Or they would, if summer wasn't here already.

It's just than when even two well stablished characters get basically rewritten to neatly conform to zeitgeisty archetypes that are used in -almost literally- any currently running show, then you pretty much know there's little chance of any originality or independent thought being employed in other areas of the writing.

I see a strong possibility of 1/4 of each show being wacky chases and yelling, half the dialogue being "hilarious" self-aware comment on stale tropes, and the whole thing being as simplistic and by the numbers as the promo images show. The only appeal of the project right now is the promise of classic Barksian storylines getting adaptations, but I really don't think that can hold it together by itself.

Great response here.

>2017
>we're still making talking animal bullshit

Looks fine. Reminds me of Supernanny, which is fitting.

Whoa they're making a calarts ducktales? Shame

/thread

Devil's advocacy; this change is to make her fit with the greater adventuring focus. Did the old vesion ever do stuff like that?

I'm a little worried the cast is too big and redundant besides. In the comics Donald sometimes plays the role of idiot but now we have Launchpad for that (much more intensely), plus the triplets are now individuals and there's Webby as well. Even without Launchpad and Beaksley the core group has gone from three (triplets count as one) to six.

I'd be pretty annoyed if it's mostly the triplets+Webby and not enough Scrooge or Donald.

Perhaps different episodes will push forward different characters or sets of characters.

Everything is redundant.

Scrooge should be the unlikely badass most of the time and Launchpad can sometimes be muscle, in an assistant capacity. Giving both traits to a third character is kind of silly. Then there's indeed the problem with Donald (since Launchpad was just a replacement for him to begin with)

> the core group has gone from three (triplets count as one) to six

This is my first concern as well. The triplets are traditionally one character in 3 bodies, which gives tons of interesting options to actually creative writers. It shows whoever is running things doesn't really understand the original material's setup (comics or show) and why it worked that well.

None. the show premieres on August 12

>Saying how this would ruin childhoods by "millenializing" DuckTales or whatever the fuck?

Only morons were saying that. You can tell when a person whining is looking for something to whine about. The only legitimate complaints I saw were about the voices.

The original audience WAS millennials

>The triplets are traditionally one character in 3 bodies, which gives tons of interesting options to actually creative writers.

Lmao

>I'd be pretty annoyed if it's mostly the triplets+Webby and not enough Scrooge or Donald.
I don't think that's going to be the case. The creators implied family interactions are going to play a big part in the series, setting Donald and Srooge aside wouldn't make sense, especially after all the focus they gave Donald in the promo stuff.

>they made her swole
>they turned her into literally Garnet
I'm sure there are a lot of people that are fairly upset about this, but I just I just can't take this seriously, please, I hope this is funny.

>giving personalities to the triplets is bad

Don't ever write.

They had personalities before, only it's just one for the three of them.

jesus mrs beakley got stacked

> arbitrarily changing well-known characters because of a simplistic quantitative principle is good

Write all you want; just don't show it to people carrying pitchforks

It's possible that Launchpad is in there as a concession/fanservice to the previous TV series. Maybe all he ever does is fly the plane and never goes on the adventure.

Remember when Scrooge filled his colon with helium to welch on a bet?

The people saying it would ruin their childhoods are autistic idiots.

The people saying this looks like anything more than a cheap, soulless nostalgiagrab are also autistic idiots.

i read
>Literally looks like a trashman
lmao

Born in '78, watched this show when I was 9.

Was it, really?

>giving personalities to the triplets is bad

If you give them really shitty ones, yeah it is.

The important thing is that you found a way to feel superior to both.

Speaking of Quack Pack, how come everybody hates that show since they made the nephews act sarcastic, snarky, and have tons of 'tude? They're doing the same thing in this new show and everybody seems to really like it. At least Quack Pack had good animation.

Yeah, if you have strong feelings for this show one way or another, I guess I am superior to you.

It kind of triggers me how they use CG so liberally in the intro elsewhere, but the diving-in-coins bit turned out so half-assed. That's the kind of thing you use 3D for goddammit

Animation is better today because old animation was biased against people who didn't know to draw. Today, ANYONE can make a cartoon no matter how untalented you are. PROGRESS!

I knew people disliked it but I didn't start seeing hate for it until the Nostalgia Critic blasted it in his Disney Afternoon review. Same with Mighty Ducks.

I'll defend Quack Pack. Most people dismiss it because of the whole '90's tude' thing. If people actually took the time to watch it, they'd see that half the time they were actually making fun of the '90s-ness of the whole thing. The Tasty Paste episode is one of the funniest half-hours of TV animation that Disney's ever done.

I'm still not convinced...looks flat. I still think DuckTales and everything else should have just been better off they way they were.

Holy shit that animation is bad.

The reason the show looks so cheap is because apparently Disney didn't have any expectations for it. They put all of their money into the 'Tangled' animated series because that was the one that was supposed to be the big, merchandising hit. When they announced they were doing a new DuckTales series, Disney executives were surprised and said, "Wait, people actually care about this old thing?".

Maybe season 2 will get a larger budget.

idk I like the idea of Mrs. Beakley being Scrooge's bodyguard/maid. I hope she can fuck shit up and also have tea and lunch prepared on time.

Simply put, I hope she is one hell of a butler.

> Maybe season 2 will get a larger budget

Season 2 better get Magica as well. Srsly where the fuck is she

So basically Alfred from Beware the Batman? I can dig that.

>Season 1 will be introducing everyone's personalities and roles on the team while introducing a few antagonists

>It will end with ominous Magica pandering

>Season 2 will be all the team vs Magica's machinations

2 words MUSCLE FETISH

That actually makes a lot of sense the way you think about it. I do hope that the intro does update with better animation if this gets popular.

Either that or they blew a lot of their money on the voice cast.

I think only Louie is sarcastic and snarky in the new show actually

on the scale of 2010s reboots/revivals, DuckTales will fall between the Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack revivals

>apparently Disney didn't have any expectations for it
But that's complete bullshit. They announced season 2 before even the first preview came out

> dont-look-at-huey.jpg

Shit, I did

It'd be in line with Scrooge's frugality, too. Why write two paychecks when you can just hire one person to do two jobs

He might also pilot a ship.
He's most likely going to be the guy who drives whatever transportation device the Ducks use.

Yeah, because of the reaction it got on Social Media. The higher ups at Disney didn't give a SHIT about this series.

Why PPG? Isn't that completely garbage that doesn't even have fighting?

>Old series: A show about Uncle Scrooge and his family going on adventures
>New series: A show about Uncle Scrooge and his family going on adventures except there will be continuity

Maybe I'm just not as close to Ducktales as everyone else, but I just don't get it. Why is everybody freaking out about this show?

What would be your source for that?

Do you have a single piece of evidence to back any of this up? This feels like all stems from "this doesn't look like Tangled so let me make this entire conspiracy around it"

Because it looks like shit and the voices are terrible.

That's my hope.
WoY started out a little better than this but actually got to great-tier animation by the end.

It's Mercury Filmeworks again right?

That's my reasoning anyway. You'd think anyone on Scrooge's staff would need to be at least a little badass to keep up with him, so we'll see how they handle the new angle.

I'm just relieved because the original Webby and Mrs. Beakley were by far the most annoying parts of the old show.

DISGUSTING, IT'S POOP

The entire show is in line with Scrooge's frugality 2bh

Mercury did the first season, Bouler Media did the second season's animation. But in my opinion they both did a great job with the animation!

It's funny because the Tangled series also looks like cheap shit. Just not as cheap as DuckTales.

Not as many people really give a shit about Tangled as Disney thinks they do. It's a cute show but I don't see it going past 2 seasons. It's already feeling repetitive.

It does Purposefully Obliterate Old Precepts, user. Well spotted

>Tutn the maid into Brock Samson, to go in adventure together
>Literal a battle maid
>Bad

This dynamic seems way funnier to be honest.

Makes me want to vomit.

It looks like trash compared the 90s-style art. Everything is flat and low-detailed. Guess that's cheaper, but it sure as heck doesn't make it look better.

>Caring about Ms. Beakley at all
>Thinking Ms. Beakley (and Webby by association) mattered when they weren't even from the comics and only existed because late 80s Disney needed a girl audience
>Not thinking that, other than remove her entirely, doing something like actually have a reason for her to be on adventure by turning her into maid Brock Samson is a good thing

I can't believe you actually tried to put 'motherly' as a positive in a goddamn duck adventure show for boys.

That's the nature of these modern Disney CG films. Their popularity burns bright for a few months but by the time the next trendy thing comes out, nobody cares about the old thing anymore. Especially the princess films aimed at tween girls like Tangled and Frozen.

>implying it is not easy to feel superior to both of those groups.

I think the old DuckTales is a thousand times superior to this new shit in every single way, but you have to admit one thing. The old Webby really, really sucked. Admit it, you never liked her. No one did.

>people actually care about this old thing that revolutionized syndicated cartoons across the entire world?

You need to be 18 to post on Sup Forums

Why would a Disney executive be posting on Sup Forums?

That's some impressive lack of reading comprehension, kiddo.

Fuck you, I liked it

I literally remember none of that at all. As far as I recall, people were excited about it from day 1.

Went through stages. First people didn't like the idea of a reboot because "fuck another one". Then the first promo image came out and people were hyped especially to see Donald. (Interestingly enough, back when this was released the artstyle was widely appreciated because it looked so comic-ish) Then they announced the second season and that got people curious. Then I think we didn't hear much except for that one website that called Magica a lesbian icon which ruffled some feathers but it was clear they didn't know what they were talking about. The first trailer dropped and that's when you see more of the "muh animation" people crop up. People were still hyped though. I think there's been this air of Sup Forums still being salty over Mabel regarding Webby on that note which got exacerbated when her adventurous character and grappling hook were shown.

So we've come to now where all the character designs and some clips have been revealed. I'd say outside of here, it's hyped as fuck but it's really divided around here mainly because of animation. Doesn't really bother me that much but whatever.

i seriously doubt Webby will be another Mabel. They can't possibly make her boy crazy, always make H/D/L in the wrong for her own bullshit and I really hope she doesn't do the thing that makes Magica all powerful

Autistic American children will probably like it. European fans who still love these characters have much higher standards and probably won't care.

She's more like a tomboy with a crush on Donald, Mabel was outgoing but still clearly a girly girl.

>revolutionized syndicated cartoons across the entire world?

Fucking what?

>Saying how this would ruin childhoods by "millenializing" DuckTales or whatever the fuck?
No. As I recall, Sup Forums was always pretty hype about this series. Disney's animated series have been pretty fucking great for the past few years.

Also, how much longer do we have to wait for good Webby porn
