Sup Forums memes aside, why do Canadian and American Sup Forums seem indistinguishable, unless their nationality is implied?

Yes, the Canadian identity is at risk of being dissolved into the American identity.
That's why the CRTC exists, to put up barriers to ward off American media and try to protect and nurture the Canadian identity.

Their only difference is who has healthcare or not

What's a Canadian?

Shut the fuck up, leaf.

This is an anonymous imageboard. Such details are irrelevant most of the time.

Because there really isn't much of a difference, really. There's some groups like the southerners who have something more of an identity, but they're not really used as something that represents their culture and more something to condemn or use for gags.

you know that to anyone who isn't american or canadian, the two are pretty much the same thing, right?

The only difference is who shitposters harder, the day of the rake must happen soon.

Other than Quebecois and Southerners they're really about the same.

Albertans are basically southerners.

Because American culture spreads all over the place and Canada is right next door. Also there are a lot of Canadian shows in America

What are getting at, OP? Most Americans don't look Asian.

Because 99% of Canadians live in the US border, nobody give a shit about french language outside of Quebec.
Yukon and Baffin Island are wastelands.

All of Canada is a wasteland except a tiny strip along the US border. Canadians are basically desperate to become Americans but can't due to ridiculous immigration laws, so they live as close to decent weather as possible. Some cope by adopting an anti-American mindset.

The CRTC will be abolished after the next federal election, along with the CBC. The Conservatives are the natural governing party this century, the red wave was a one-time thing really.

Hatred of Cancon laws was always there but has now reached a boiling point due to the Internet, so they will not be allowed to continue. Most Canadians see nothing wrong with joining the American media ecosystem anyways. And other policies like net neutrality will be dictated by what the US decides.

>Yukon and Baffin Island are wastelands.
Poor NWT, so forgotten it doesn't even have an original name.

>HEALTHCARE
>METRIC SYSTEM

>CRTC
it's embarrassing. it feels extremely insecure. like we know that our own products aren't good enough to compete in a free marketplace, so we protect them. all while we preach against economic/social/immigration protectionism, but then do so much of it ourselves. so hypocritical.

Both will be reversed eventually. Healthcare is guaranteed, but I even see regular complaints about using the metric system without the US.

Wait, so you think all Canadians want to be Americans, but because we can't get in we just all live as close as possible.

Because that's insane

That's a misconception. It's not that they're not good enough to compete, it's that Canada isn't a big enough market to support its own media.

Look at other countries that aren't the US. They generally have CRTC equivalents, even while speaking a different language for the most part.

Nobody actually wants to live in Canada. It's sad but true. The country offers no significant benefits over the US, but enormous downsides that severely restrict quality of life.

>Canada isn't a big enough market
you think Nickelodeon won't play Canadian made cartoons in both the US and Canada if they are good enough and sold to them for the right price?

>Look at other countries
same insecure, protectionist BS usually. that or state propaganda.

>you think Nickelodeon won't play Canadian made cartoons in both the US and Canada if they are good enough and sold to them for the right price?
Yes, absolutely. Canadians can and do watch stuff with American references all the time. The reverse would be a disaster, Americans are far too patriotic.
>same insecure, protectionist BS usually. that or state propaganda.
That's not what actual economics says.

>this level of conceit

Fuck that. I rather not have American sensationalism infect our media.

Mark my words: the USA will be dissolved before the end of this century.

Does anyone have that weird foreign youtube music video of him the trailor park kid from failry odd parents and another character cant remeber his name singing songs together

Oh, honey, that ship sailed long ago. The fact Trudeau go elected is proof enough of that.

Same reason westerners cant tell the difference between japan, china, and korea, and assume that those 3 are the only countries in asia

Any proof? You guys are trying desperately to keep Quebec in. I give it another 20 years before they go.
