Alright Sup Forums I'm going to a comic con for the first time tomorrow. What should I expect?

alright Sup Forums I'm going to a comic con for the first time tomorrow. What should I expect?

depends on the organizers.

if its a wizard world thing, artist alley will be sad, the focus will be "celebrities" and half the floor will be people selling toys and geeky shit

if its a local thing, it'll have more comics sellers than toy/merch vendors. maybe some artists, but not many.

you will realize how right all the stereotypes about nerds are (neckbeards, overweight, generally socially inept)

A lot of lines. You'll probably be late to a bunch of panels you want to go, and get stuck wandering around the Artist's Alley or some booths. Which one are you going to, by the way?

If you plan on taking pictures bring extra batteries. If you're cosplaying, bring any sewing supplies or a kit for doing repairs. Do not wear your cosplay all day. Lots of cosplayers only wear it for 1-3 hours then go back to their hotel room to change into regular clothes. No one really cares about how knowledgeable you are about geek culture. Everyone there paid over hundreds of dollars to be there and are too busy with their own schedule to care about what other attendees are dong. Don't be shy to ask someone for a picture.

-Depression
-Fat people
-Manchildren

going to a comic con is like going to prison just find the biggest guy there and punch them out and you will get respect

Stuttgart

Bring food from home, the lunch alley will probably rip you off.

i was gonna roll in at like noon would there be long lines even after that?

Stinky people, obnoxious Deadpool cosplayers, awful lines, and a waste of money, time, and energy.

expect an empty wallet by the end of the event

sounds like a shitty time

>Nerds. Nerds everywhere.

It looks like it was a popular event last year, so expect queues and plan accordingly.

As said, I imagine it will be mostly merchandising and multimedia (animu/mango, vidya, TV/Film etc), but check out the comics section.

You will see all manner of nerds and geeks, but you might get some normal looking people and families.

Yes. Bring money. Go to a cashmachine before you get to the event; the ones nearby will be empty very quickly.
Plan your budget carefully; set aside your food and travel money apart from your spending money.
Resist the temptation to spend it all on the first stall of shiny gewgaws you see.
Spend it all on the independent comic creators instead.

Go to the one in small cities (or if you live in a shithole like me, stay there)

Few lines and lots of idependent stores selling toys and comics for neat prices

>Spend it all on the independent comic creators instead.
this. the independent guys have always been the best. they give you great deals.

>Meet guy from a webcomic that i follow
>Say that i also draw shit
>He asks to see my art
>Invites me to sit with him in the table
>All day talking about Robert Crumb and porn
>Go lunch with him
>Still have him on steam

Great times

...

is going to comic-cons even worth it Sup Forums?

Bring nasal spray and fucking hand sanitizer. Germs run crazy and the smell can be insane. Expect lots of socially awkward conversations. Drama queens who want tons of attention. Bring a shit ton of money cause nothing is cheap. Think Sup Forums if it was a person - socially inept, fat idiotic neckbeards with no lives who will debate everything under the sun.

remember to bring your own chair

First and last time I went, a 12 year old lad was sweating profusely and ran up to me in his Deadpool costume for a hug. Never went back.

Went to comic Festival

Find an Artist I like, buy sketch book
Doing a custom sketch on back.

We talk, turns out we are from same town. Ask if I do art, tell him I do stencil. He seemed interested in it.
We talk some more.

After he did the sketch a walk on my way, I regret not showing him my art.

>bring any sewing supplies or a kit for doing repairs

Check if there are any security regulations that may get in the way of carrying sewing supplies. My local con's security is tighter than an american airport just after 9/11.

The biggest guy physically or just the guy with the most influence and power?

>Getting caught with a sowing needle
I don't care how tight security is, your a sucka' if you can't sneak a needle in.

Wash your fucking hands.
