"we can’t blast out 53 covers. We would pretty much just break the internet."

Christ, this reeks of either blatant ignorance of what constitutes as internet breaking content or a PR Person desperately trying to spin how much their "Industry Changing Announcement" fucking bombed. I mean by god

>With Legacy, our biggest thing was figuring out a way to debut these titles that’s interesting, that will get people talking, and also we have like 53 of them. Normally we would just blast out an email, and we’re like, we can’t blast out 53 covers. We would pretty much just break the internet. So we were like let’s break the internet in another way.

>And we came up with this really cool idea that the Legacy covers that are gonna accompany all our new titles were gonna be homages to older, well known, famous comic covers. I don’t think I even realized how cool it was gonna be until we saw them for the first time. I would see the covers as just prints, and be like, this is the new cover by the artist that our Legacy title is gonna be.

>And then when I first saw it, when I opened all the gifs, I’m like, oh my god, this is so cool, because a lot of them are just so well done that when they transition back and forth you can easily tell, even if you’re not familiar with the book, but you know the title, you know the cover. If you know comics, it’s really cool.

>And then we decided we’re gonna break the internet by giving seven or eight comic sites exclusive little bursts, like five or six gifs, and we’re gonna kinda roll them out throughout the day. Eventually we’ll post all of them all together. It’s kind of a cool way to tease it because obviously we have a lot more to reveal about Legacy. It’s one of our biggest Fall events, and we’re gonna be doing a lot more leading up to comic con, as far as information about the books and the creative teams. All that stuff is coming. We’re just trying to tease it out really slowly. But I think this is a really cool way to get people excited.

How the internet reacted according to them
>I was scrolling Twitter when this started, because this all started this morning, and people were like ‘oh I’m so glad to see that this title is continuing, or this title.’ I forget people don’t really know. It’s like, ‘oh I’m so glad to see that Moon Girl still has a title.’ So that’s fun to see, everyone reacting to these covers and the rollout and the way they’ve been received by basically like the whole internet

>We have so much cool stuff. We’ll have a lot more Legacy announcements. We’re gonna announce stuff about Generations, as well as a bunch of stuff with Disney Publishing and Women of Marvel. There’s so much stuff that we’re looking to announce, and it’s gonna be really fun. Part of my job now is figuring out who’s gonna be on the panels, who we’re gonna invite, what talent we’re gonna invite, and that’s really fun because I get to look at everyone like, I know who’s coming to this panel and I know what you’re gonna talk about but I can’t say.

Christ Hiro, pls raise the message cap.

>What’s exciting about San Diego is that Women of Marvel will be coming back, as per usual. Hopefully we’ll be able to announce the date and time soon. We’re looking to build some great ladies for the panel, so everyone who’s going to San Diego, you’ll have to stay tuned. We’ve got some great stuff in the booth – also mum, so we can’t talk about any of that – but it should be fun and exciting for those who are attending the convention to come by the booth and check it out.

And that's it.

Unless the cover is of a Muslim being hanged with his penis cut off, I don't see how any Legacy Marvel cover could break the internet.

What is this sentence?

>And then we decided we’re gonna break the internet by giving seven or eight comic sites exclusive little bursts
How are shitty variant covers suppose to break the internet? How? The new art isn't even as good as the past covers. Most of the covers have nothing special or shocking about them (Amazing Spider-Man was the laziest one of all). And it's mostly just the same books from Now(er).

Does Marvel not know about solicits?

Someone trying really really really really hard to hype up variant covers as some kind of brand new technology and the greatest invention of mankind.

It's official, women have smaller brains.

I'll take things that didn't happen for 5000, Alex.

If they want to break the internet just put out a NSFW variant. It would sell more than all these shitty variants combined too, guaranteed.

The best people can say about this shit is that they aren't killing books. That is fucking hillarious

If they wanted to break the internet, they'd hire Chris Chan and Andrew Dobson.

I don´t understand how this is going to break the internet? Is the idea 53 variant covers or is something else?
Did not they do this every 3 months like, 50 states variant or is venom month so every comic has the heroes "venomised" in the variant or deadpool variant cover in every 60 comic they publish?

Well they've already got Gabby Rivera and Kate Leth so that'd just be par for the course, honestly.

>internet breaking content
What is breaking the internet? I see it all the time on the perfectly serviceable internet.

Yeah, have Kamala hanged with her vagina mutilated.

That's sure to get people talking.

Women has always have smaller brains than male, dumbass. And it's never indicative of intelligence.

Hey, I can read Sup Forums today! Looks like the internet is fixed after Marvel broke it with their variant cover reveal. What did you guys do during the downtime?

It was a bunch of random variant covers.
bleedingcool.com/2017/06/23/reality-threatened-sixth-industry-changing-set-marvel-legacy-titles-homage-covers-revealed/

Nothing Internet breaking. They lied.

I can't believe Marvel Comics managed to break the internet. Especially since we ran out of the internet years ago like Extra Credit said.

I was in the middle of fapping to porn when Marvel broke the internet. Didn't even get to finish. Might sue Marvel for rape.

So what's your excuse for women getting doctorates while you post on Sup Forums?

>And we came up with this really cool idea that the Legacy covers that are gonna accompany all our new titles were gonna be homages to older, well known, famous comic covers. I don’t think I even realized how cool it was gonna be
how come Marvel PR´s think that homage covers is something new or that they came up with the idea just now?
How many people that do not know shit about comics have them running (or ruining) the company?

Are you implying men don't get doctorates too?

It's Axel's fault. He told everyone to hype up the variant covers as Internet breaking (the freakin retard).
One Bleedingcool rumor says he's received heat for it (as he should).

>not having a doctorate while posting on Sup Forums

Look at this woman and laugh!

>all this delusional bullshit
Marvel PR used to be unfuckable
What the fuck happened?

>I was reading Twitter during our promotion and the most notable thing I saw were comments like "Huh, they're still publishing Moon Girl?" and I was thinking "Yep! We're still publishing Moon Girl!" and I felt great that I could remind people we were still doing things like publishing Moon Girl.
How is it possible that every bit of information that comes out about Legacy just keeps getting worse?

>>Marvel: Releasing 53 covers in one day will break the internet!
>>People: This is lame.
>>Dan Slott: WHAT DID YOU FAGGOTS SAY?!

Isn't it ironic that Marvel comics is a lot like Sony?

It's simple. People who got into comics because they saw the Avengers got hired by Marvel.

Silly mandates, stupid business practices, and incompetent editors that think shock and hatred is better than actually making a enjoyable book.

Take of a look at Tom Brevoort and see why everything is going downhill.

>Brevoort: Anger and clickbait is good!
>quits twitter because of anger and clickbait

I don't know about you guys but I definitely felt broken after the reveal.

>We would pretty much just break the internet. So we were like let’s break the internet in another way.

It's like listening to my mother try to be hip. How does a PR person talk like this? Jesus, is ineptitude a requirement working for Marvel?

>Andrea
Diversity hire, I guess?

>I’m like, oh my god, this is so cool, because a lot of them are just so well done that when they transition back and forth you can easily tell, even if you’re not familiar with the book, but you know the title, you know the cover. If you know comics, it’s really cool
is she mentally challenged? is marvel hiring literal retards now?

It's part of how acting less mature is being enshrined as how "normal" people act.

Holy shit this all reads like some 22 year old got her first marketing job, has no idea about the industry, and is flailing madly to keep her head above water. GG Marvel! You've done it again!

there are dogs who sound more human than that when they try to speak
its like that cartoon trope of the alien trying not to stick out by doing something completely unnatural
how is this person a pr manager?

...

>We would pretty much just break the internet.

Massive overconfidence and ignorance seem to be pretty valuable job skills nowadays. Perhaps colleges ARE teaching the right things.

Im sorry but I still cant get over that VARIANT COVERS is there next big thing. Are they high or just stupid. Thats like praising/marketing a movie solely on its poster. Also whats this "breaking the internet" shit they keep repeating? Paying homage to classic imagery is just another way of saying you're fresh out of ideas and giving nostalgia another coat of paint.

She is a worker bee type of woman. She doesn't do anything spectacular in any field but it doesn't stop her from working and being a kiss ass. You can see from her linkedin the amount of effort she put into to get where she is now. Although it seems like she was just another diversity hire that charmed the Marvel executives with her bubbly personality. She also specializes in female led media.

You can find her linkedin account and see that she prides herself on the amount of experience she has in many fields even though her main source of writing is nothing more than reviews and recaps of "Geek" shows.

The worst part of this all is the amount of power they're giving her by allowing her to set up the Comic-con panels for the company. Allowing her to dictate what the narrative is during the conference. I half expect there to be a woman only panel up there with the likes of Gabby Rivera and other YA authors talking about how great and progressive Marvel is.

Reminder

For whatever else you want to say about Joe Quesada, he was actually good at his job.

Axel Alonso is in over his head and it's trickling down to every level.

Quesada was horrible at his job. It's the projects he didn't stick a finger in that actually made up the numbers. He was proud of Disassembled and House of M, remember?

...

He wrecked a lot of shit, but his job was to spin things to make it sound good. And apparently it worked because the books sold and they didn't completely walkback on Disassembled and House of M until, what, when Quesada was going to leave or Alonso was already EIC?

In that regard Quesada was better at that job than Alonso.

No one was excited about moon girl, that I am 99% sure about. Her demographic was too busy complaining about punisher getting a war machine suit in his ongoing which apparently is an example of whitewashing.

Decades of favoritism leading to a 70:30 gender ratio to try and cover up the issue?

You should add the quitting twitter announcement to the bottom of that.

I dunno, Punisher getting War Machine's armor is pretty retarded

You're right, I gotta do that.

>And we came up with this really cool idea that the Legacy covers that are gonna accompany all our new titles were gonna be homages to older, well known, famous comic covers
But people do that LITERALLY ALL THE TIME. Why are they acting like it's such a marketing breakthrough?

Because they're marketing it as one

Disassembled and House of M were shit, but the good-to-shit ratio under Quesada was actually pretty fucking good. When he started Marvel Knights before getting promoted to EIC, he was putting out top quality shit like Priest's Black Panther, Bendis' Daredevil and Ennis' Punisher.

Quesada was far from perfect, but he brought in talent, unlike the mass exodus under Alonso, and he knew how to do PR without sounding like a PR robot. And there was none of this fucking desperate scrambling behind the scenes. For all his flaws, he knew how to run the ship.

You see Marvel is so far up its own ass they think that if they pitch something thats been done a hundred times before as something new and groundbreaking, enough people will fall for it and buy them. All Marvel does these days is do backflips to get new reader numbers, and do next to nothing to ensure they stay. Instant gratification

> Jude Terror
You aren't special and don't deserve a 12 year old's edgy pseudonym.

>and also we have like 53 of them
because 53 is more than 52
House of Ideas

As someone who works customer service and constantly has to put a positive spin on the absolutely stupid decisions the company that makes the product we do support for engages in I can tell you this guy probably hates what's going on more than anyone because not only does he know it's shit but now he has to go out and try to spin it with a line of bullshit.

>Unless the cover is of a Muslim being hanged with his penis cut off
They're trying to scale back Kamala

>about Joe Quesada, he was actually good at selling Marvel's children to strangers

I am picturing her saying all this sweating profusely and crying her eyes out.

That's it? That's Marvel Legacy? THAT WAS JUST A BUNCH OF CHEAP VARIANT COVERS!

Man they are for a rude awakening once they arrive at San Diego.

Lol he quit? maybe he and Waid can actually get to work now that they left twitter, hopefully Slott follows.

Oh please, like anyone will say shit

Have you been to comic panels? Nerds do say shit, most of the time it's nothing more than one autist getting into a mini verbal fight with one of the writers or editors but some shit has gone down like the girl who sperged at Kieron Gillen over Young Avengers so badly he had to take her aside and talk privately, or that Batgirl that followed DiDio at every con, or even drama from the staff itself like PAD sperging about Gypsies.

People are upset about how Marvel has been handling things so some shit will go down even if it's minor.

>break the internet
I hate this phrase so much

I actually tried to keep track of their homage covers a couple of years ago, but there were too many. Regurlary around 5 per month, but including variants and especially Deadpool variants there could easily be 30 in a month. This is going back to early-mid 2000s, so i don't see how this could be sensational.
They've recently had variants themed on Gwen Stacy, Gwenpool, Deadpool, Venom, resurxion, Defenders, Champions, XCI, Death of X, and MJ thats mostly homages

>Normally we would just blast out an email, and we’re like, we can’t blast out 53 covers. We would pretty much just break the internet.
Not everyone is using a dial-up faggot, this is 99.

>One Bleedingcool rumor says he's received heat for it (as he should).
Source?

Imagine how much better perceived this would be if they were honest about it. Or at least slightly more pragmatic. Like "Yeah, we're not going to show off all 53 covers at once because then people would only focus on a few standouts. With a staggered release, each cover gets its time to shine."

The amount of times like shows up makes me want to strangle every asshole that works there.

Like both hands.

If the comic industry was a person, it'd be slitting it's wrists repeatedly and hoping there's an afterlife

bleedingcool.com/2017/07/03/dc-comics-talent-marvel-legacy-misfire/

Kek

Yes.
Or maybe they should phrase it more like some fun pr.

>we will annonuce some neat things. But we try to give many comic news site some exclusive information to appreciate them, give our fans a little puzzle and try some new hunt for clues.
>We break our news, you could say "we break the internet" and its up to our fans to unify this multiverse news. Lets see which hunter has the first full scope of our news. Marvel out!

Maybe i should try to get the pr job at Marvel.

Done.

I'm pretty sure this is just more evidence for Marvel being run by vapid cunts, not anything to do with women

Why would Axel or any suit push variant covers as "Industry changing" or "internet breaking"?

Let's be honest, that strategy has worked before, if you remember the early marketing for Kamala

>I would have a PhD but the feminists are opressing me

With Marvel's mentality DC's Adam Neil's variants should've broken the Internet too

And Miles. And gay characters.

my internets still broken from when Future's End had those holo-grphix

I said that exact thing only it was about Americx not Moon Girl

MARVEL BETRAYED US

>Americx
damn son

>>And then when I first saw it, when I opened all the gifs, I’m like, oh my god, this is so cool, because a lot of them are just so well done that when they transition back and forth you can easily tell, even if you’re not familiar with the book, but you know the title, you know the cover. If you know comics, it’s really cool.
Sounds exactly like Trump

No, yours is really bad too.

>Marvel's legacy will be homage covers
House of ideas indeed

What's even more shocking is how much they're trying to spin this as something industry shaking. I mean what the hell? Did the entire marketing division suddenly get collectively shitfaced and design this strategy while drunk?

Andrea, pls!

It's really cool and it's fun. Really fun.

And its badass!!

This is Marvel.
