i don't, draw like shit and i'm not getting better

I just got a tablet the this year and I honestly wish I would have waited until I actually got better at drawing, but hey whatcha going to do.

Fuck if I know.

For line art practice I reccomend you use a sharp pen tool so the lines look crisp and coloring becomes easier

I like to draw. I am good at drawing. I also like Instagram likes, and drawing helps me get a looot of those.

Litterally how, I get very minimal likes for drawing

Don't use the uber popular tags like #art. There's no way anyone will be able to find your art there. It updates way too quickly. Use popular but less popular tags (stuff in that 500K-1M range is optimal, but some of the less popular tags are actually decent too). Don't just tag shit like #drawing. What's in your drawing? Are the clothes detailed? Use tags for fashion illustration. Did you draw something that looks like it could be in a comic? Tag that shit. You get 30 tags on Instagram. There's no shame in using them all.

Also you don't have to be an amazing artist to get a good following. You just have to be a consistent one. You don't have to post every day, but at least a few times a week is good.

You whore on the latest drawing trends and draw things for the general appeal or #relatable_comics.png

i totally gave up, lost motivation. miss my characters though

I don't even know. there's this idea that it'll be fulfilling. But I end up hating everything I do

dang, 30 tags. That's good to know.
I think tumblr still gives you a whopping 5 :/

because its fun lol

It's also the only thing I'm decent at because im a worthless autistic sack of shit

I want to git gud so I can draw cute fat girls and wholesome heterosexual sex.

...

to help the pain

Because I'm bored and it passes time rather quickly.

Here's some early progress on redone d&d Modrons made to fit their descriptions more than their goofy art. The rightmost two (Quadrone and Pentadrone) are still in the early phase where I might scrap them and restart, in addition I might redo the one with a square head (Duodrone) to fit the theme they all have with their "eyes"/heads instead of having the different design.

To make a comic down the line. I wanted to go into animation back when I was younger after dabbling in some amateur work. Gave up on that since the way the big networks have been acting in recent years. Good or bad, I'd rather not have something I made be run into the ground or get shafted.

Damn dude, that star one on the far right looks awesome

to make myself feel like I'm good at something so I can combat the self hate, except whenever something doesn't come out ok I end up not drawing for a month because I can't bring myself to even hold a pencil in my hand without crying or wanting to kill myself
and they say artblock isn't real

this truly made me think

Here's the sketch sheet for it where you can see a fair bit more detail.

I might scrap the hydra-spider and make something that fits the original a bit more though, I like it's design but I think I could probably come up with something better.

>Have Wacom since 2 years
>2 fucking years and i still suck
>Haven't finished a single fucking drawing cuz i am ashamed of myself since all of them are trash

Do i still have hope?

Continue to practice.
Eventually you'll get to the point where instead of going "this is shit" you go "this is pretty good, BUT this area could use improvement..." then once you redo one spot, you see another area you can touch up, and another, until eventually you have an image you actually like. For me personally once I hit that point it became much easier to sit down and draw for an entire day because I could zoom out and see a full size picture I actually liked instead of some half-assed sketch I'd never finish.

If you practice and work to improve you will get better. It's literally that simple.

i want to be able to draw more than anything but i cant make myself practice and improve and not suck shit
i wish i could just kill myself

you and me both senpai

>that feeling when you realize that people who get lots of compliments and draw really well were just like you but practiced really hard while you're just being a piece of shit too busy self-hating to do anything, meanwhile those artists are only getting better while you're stalling and even getting worse
alright

Good to know, it all boils down to practice, but drawing digitally feels like a whole other ball park. There is so much to learn it's almost like relearning how to draw in the first place.

But after years of doubt and just not drawing because I was lazy and filled with self loathing, I finally decided to buckle down and just start trying new things and getting out of my comfort zone.

whats a good free program to use for animation?

Blender is free, but it's mostly 3D. I've seen people use it for 2D though.
Opentoonz maybe? I haven't tried it. Just find anything that uses onion skinning, that's all you really need for 2D animation.

are paper drawings allowed?

Because I have an insatiable desire to draw cutesy shit.

Krita has a nice animation interface if you're not concerned with adding sound/music to it.

I literally started drawing cause I grew up watching cartoons and wanted to draw my favorite characters hanging out with me

The first step is to not look for things that are wrong, but to try and find things that are right

If you become so aware of what could be wrong that you fear being wrong, you'll lose sight of what is right.

I think you can find a version of tvpaint in for free.

it works pretty damn well.

Sketched some random, wrinkly dudes.

>That tired face of innocence

A-user, my heart...

...

So I finally tried using Photoshop to draw stuff.

FireAlpaca has animation tools.

Why wouldn't they be? Just be sure to scan or photograph them properly, or otherwise adjust the image before posting so it's not huge, sideways/skewed, and/or orange.

Because I wanna get better so that I can draw comics one day, then a kid will read my comics and be inspired pick up a pencil and draw as well

WIP

Looks like Rib Dyke ti me.

I was naturally good at it as a kid. Kept at it because it was an easy, cheap hobby I could do during class or whenever else I was bored and because everyone gave me compliments. If I'm being truly, really, 100% honest then for most of my life it's just been a parlour trick for me and a way of getting people's attention/affection. Nowadays that's changing and I actually like doing it and want to do something with it.

I've already posted this but seeing these threads repeatedly die saddens me.

Krita

I'm always glad to see you art in these threads. You got a blog/page/deviantart/anything?

I basically have to. I might die otherwise. From brain breakdown.

>2 years
2 years are nothing user, see you in 10+.

because there are pictures which I want to exist, but do not, and I have the power to change that

You drew that user? Looks pretty good, its got that 90s feel to it

Jesus, i just realized that he had a bunch of needles in him

When the fuck did I post this

bumpo

when you had a lack of sleep?

you guys seem pretty talented, got any tips on coloring/shading?

>that damikura

Yeah, don't shade with black unless you're trying to stylize your piece. You'll get a greater emotional response through your use of color. This can also be pushed not only by changing the tone, but the actual hue on a shaded area.
This means if say I had a bright yellow ball, the shading wouldn't be a darker yellow, but rather something like a darker blue.

Also with shading, consider your light sources. Depending on how many you have, what color of light, and what intensity you're trying to convey, the depth of your subject can vary. Most people only consider the one spotlight or area light when doing simple illustrations. If you're going for detail, consider where the light is coming from, if it's being refracted or reflected, and how that changes depending on what it's hitting. If you have a strong light hitting a surface at an angle, it's going to bounce off and that's when you should start paying attention to under/rim lighting on your subjects. Sometimes drawing some simple directional arrows helps keep that in mind.

I mainly do it to try and spite a specific person one day. There's a reaaally talented artist out there that I see every so often who just draws fanart.
Anytime that someone says something to them they pretty much respond with "thank you, btw art prints are available at my site, prices are $$$ $$$, here's a link to all my social media, make sure to follow me on all these popular/offshoot art blogging sites"

I get that there's a lot of people out there who do this but this guy shills like there's no tomorrow.

To make depression go away

you and me both brother, nice characters though

Many reasons, but recently, its mostly spite.

you are capable of amazing things, you are The Special.

we seem to be having these threads pretty frequently. Maybe we should just drop it to a week so there isn't a lot of pressure? We could maybe issue some kind of art challenge for fun and to help people improve themselves

how come user? is it because you come up with something and see that someone else has done it? Or that your favorite influences show up a bit too blatantly in your work? That sort of stuff happens to everyone

not that user but its
crimsoneyedkeeper.tumblr.com/

his stuff's pretty cool, reminds me of the old scary stories to tell in the dark artwork.

Because I have too many OC's and not enough skill to draw them as I see them in my head

Try popping down to /i/ sometime, they have an oc thread where anons are encouraged to draw other people's oc.

youtube.com/watch?v=DJ8ZhI_kB0o

I've gotten some drawings from /i/ by begging even though some anons told me to fuck off. All apart of Sup Forums I guess.

I even commission some artists as well, but I really want to develop my own artstyle so that I can actually make a story out of it

yeah, /i/ has become a little more hostile recently since a lot of requestors have been flooding the drawthreads (mainly anons asking for fetish porn). As long as you draw someone else's in the oc thread you should be fine, as a sort of informal art exchange.

I blame patreon for that last one, but then again sex sells

Adjust your colors when shading, if its orange and needs a shadow cast on it, move the slider closer to red, if a light is shining on it, slide closer to yellow

Because it's simply what I want to do.
older picture, bc what I'm working on right now is an animation and I don't really know how to take gifs out of it right now, not until it's finished.

damn dude, that's pretty stylish for an older drawing. Is that a knight in front of the pale woman?

It puts me at ease when I've too much anxiety or are down. It relaxes me, and also makes me happy converting my ideas into actual studd.

And sometimes it's a bit of a challenge, and that's nice too.

ah lol you misunderstand what I meant by older, I meant old as in relative to this thread, I did this a month or two ago. But thanks! And yeah, that's a knight. I tried to do a fun character card of most of the important characters in my story/cartoon/whatever. I also tried to make a sort of good composition thing where your eye starts at the center-ish, follows the knights horn, goes down through the blue mage's cloak, to spiral up and end back at the lady.

well it sure did work for me. do you keep your stuff anywhere? blog etc.

yeah mate, I've got a tumblr where I'll blog my art and shit.

nin-the-skeleton.tumblr.com/

you may have to sift through some reblogs, so just search the art tag and you'll find it.

Made a quick practice dance gif! Wanted to try to give it a snappy sort of feel

oh, also I stream my art/animation with my friend every now and then on twitch, link to that is on the tumblr, if you're interested.

oy dabbo dabbo not bad, did you think about having the fire to keep moving even when she's still? Might be interesting.

I wanna make comics, but I'm afraid

that's one fat ass

Finished

this could totally work as an album cover.

I Have Just made this drawing of the Batman Beyond Girls, Dana, Max and Melanie as latin dancers from a animated 1991 music video by the Gipsy Kings, I've Got No Strings.

>I hope this drawing will do well at the co-llection site

it sure it

is*

>I'm always glad to see you art in these threads. You got a blog/page/deviantart/anything?

Aww, thank ya, user. I have a tumblr page, too.

Here ya go: That user beat me to the punch, lol.

Love the image btw. I never thought to see Spawn and Deadpool sharing a moment together, even a forced one, lol. The maggots are a nice touch, too.

>Comparing my work to Stephen Gammell's work

O-oh~!

Much appreciated, user. I'm flattered you think my stuff looks as good as the stuff that scared me back in 6th grade. Gammell's a fantastic illustrator, and it's sucha shame his artwork was replaced in later editions. Still, I really adore that sinewy/springy look in his creature designs.

I just cant grasp drawing on a graphics tablet and it's driving me nuts. It's really discouraging

Because it keeps me from thinking that were just meaningless specks in the universe and that all life will eventually come to an end

Plus I like to draw cute things

It takes a shit ton of time to get used to it

someday i'll nail these guy's designs! gotta keep testin testin testinnn

these are super cool!!!

It essentially lets you play God, since you can create and destroy whatever you want that's not in our reality.

...

fat ass is literally her name

>literally playing god
Honestly never thought of it like that

>Fart.

I love who ever made this

That kick looks a little off

It's what I enjoy most and do best.

Pic not related. Just a quick redesign concept I threw together of Fisherman, my fave Aquaman villain.

It's fun. See: The Sun

to be as good as other drawfags in this board
