I'm not worried about the animation. I just don't want it happen in general. All these reboots and they're all shit. The entire industry needs to quit with reboots until they learn how to write good stories again. All they're doing is shitting on good memories.

It's not a reboot, kiddo.

this to be quite fucking honest. the only thing I'm kinda excited about is Invader Zim because I've been wanting it back since it first went off the air and I'm pretty sure it's a story that was planned back then anyway

>Rocko is gonna suck shit without cell animation

Fixed

It's worse, it's a re-imagining of rocko's modern life only in modern times.

I didn't even know new episodes was a thing. Time to kill myself.

Should be interesting to see how toned down this is.

>implying nick isn't testing the waters before launching a full series reboot

...

Yeah, there is going to be shit involving facebook and smartphones and everything. This should not legally be allowed.

Come on, that's not that bad. All it really does is open up more opportunities for Rocko's life to be ruined as usual. Tell me you wouldn't want to see Rocko try and use Tinder.

Fucking hell no, it'll just open up to twerking shit like the neo-ppg did.

Fuck off millennial.

Who the fuck wished on the Monkey's Paw this time?
Seriously, why do people keep using the thing?

That's an issue of bad writing, not new technology.

People born before the 80s come to Sup Forums?

>I don't know what a millennial is. - You

Millennial is anyone born from 1980-2000 and after that is generation z. If you're born within that 20 year period, you're a millennial.

>Rocko's makes jokes about 90s shit
>everything's okay
>Rocko's makes jokes about 2010s shit
>this is an outrage

????????????

I've never met someone so wrong.

I don't see any arguments that I'm wrong

noun
noun: millennial; plural noun: millennials; noun: Millennial; plural noun: Millennials

1.
a person reaching young adulthood in the early 21st century.

>mfw they make a gender episode

Of course, it's the year after you were born, right?
Fucking millennial.

Having Bev Bighead or the Chameleon Brothers twerk is something the original series probably would have done if it had been popular at the time.

t. millennial

This, I mean what the fuck, did Sup Forums even WATCH the original series?

Having the characters deal with modern stuff is not only keeping in the spirit of the original show, but opens up a lot of opportunities.

The chameleon brothers probably won't even exist anymore because they are a homophobic representation of gay people.

Where did you get that definition?

No it's not. The plot is that Rocko and friends got stuck in space for 20 years then return to Earth in modern times. Then they have to adjust to the modern world.

A dictionary. You should read it so you can learn what words mean and not what the millennial generation has turned the words into.

>people itt are getting upset that a show called Rocko's MODERN LIFE is about modern life
And the plot synopsis is that he hates it and wishes it was still the 90s.

Whoa wait, since when there's going to be new episodes of Rocko?

Webster disagrees

I think every article on the first page talks about it.

>And the plot synopsis is that he hates it and wishes it was still the 90s.
Somehow I'm getting the impression that this is basically a reboot designed to be a satire of reboots.

>The original voice cast members who brought Rocko, Heffer, Filburt, and the rest of O-Town to life will reunite for Nickelodeon’s forthcoming one-hour TV special, Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling.
The one-off TV reboot will premiere on Nickelodeon in 2018, written and executive produced by series creator Joe Murray.

Oh so it's just another TV movie, wew.

They get deported back to Balzak by Trump, and get killed.

I will be very mad if they make trump an evil villain.

Stephen Hillenburg could have worked on this too if he didn't return to Spongebob

rockosmodernlife.wikia.com/wiki/Donald_Frump

That was a one time thing for the comics, I mean if they use it for propaganda that trump is an ebil nazi who wants to keep innocent browns out.

I'd say the average user on here is 17.5 years old so they were born after Rocko's time.

Eh, it's a series where a network demand for a female character with a good hook to serve as a positive role model for girls resulted in a character with a literal hook.

Stop pretending it'll have any of the magic of the original series. I got fooled with ttg and neo-ppg, I won't get fooled again.

It's from the original creator. If anything, it'll be like Samurai Jack: a great beginning with an okay end that'll enrage a good chunk of the audience.

Of all the shows to bring back, Rocko was not one of them. It's entire existence thrives on the era it was made, it'd be like trying to revive Jem & The Holograms. Thank GOD they never did something so stupid.

>it'd be like trying to revive Jem & The Holograms. Thank GOD they never did something so stupid.
The movie happened

There's no Jem and the Holograms movie. What the hell are you on about?

>It's another "people being blindsided by their own nostalgia goggles" episode

But they did the comic.

...

>he doesn't know
youtube.com/watch?v=EIX4UUFqTdQ

You DO realize he was being sarcastic, right?

Sort of like saying there was no Berserk anime covering after Golden Dawn, or how there was never a Devil May Cry 2.

It's hard to detect sarcasm when it's text instead of audio

Then user should do a better job with sarcasm because he came across as completely serious

Like I said, there is NO Jem and the Holograms movie.

See? He gets it. It doesn't exist.

No amount of telling yourself it doesn't exist will change the fact it happened.

Maybe you guys are just really bad at reading between the lines. It was pretty obvious to me.

When I reread it again, it was sarcasm. Like everyone practically knew about that movie.

the backgrounds are hand painted, joe said

I'd rather forget that Devil May Cry had a remake

Never seen rocko desu, is it as good as everyone says it is?

Yep. One of those cartoons that wasn't afraid to put in jokes for adults but as opposed to Rugrats throwing in a disco reference Rock would put jokes about masturbation or sex motels.

not quite but it's good

it's famous for sex jokes but that's way overblown, there's not actually that much of it. it's mostly a harmless kids' cartoon, albeit a unique one because it's cynical about society. the characters are adults living in the modern world having adult problems, which you don't see that often.

Holy shit, use commas.

Well, Invader Zim was cancelled prematurely. There was a lot left for them to do and now they have a chance to do some of it. That's something to be excited for. Not to mention the show was so unconventional. It had lore and continutity but never took itself too seriously or got too wrapped up in being story driven. In that sense, it was kind of a predecessor to Rick And Morty.

Rocko's Modern Life, on the other hand, is all wrapped up. It did everything it possibly could and the show is over. It led a good life, passed away peacefully in the presence of its loved ones and Nick is just reanimating its corpse for money. I don't want to see Rocko in the present day any more than I want to see George Costanza lament about how he was the originator of the iToilet.

The Ren And Stimpy Movie is going to be fucking weird, though. That'll entertain me even if I never watch it.

>The Ren And Stimpy Movie
the fuck? made independent of John K?

I heard he was involved but the fuck if I know. All John K. drama aside, nothing can negate the fact that Adult Party happened. Ren and Stimpy having gay sex, Naked Beach Frenzy, Ren torturing a frog, the log sawing scene, Stimpy taking a shit, Ren bragging to his mom about how he managed to plant his seed inside Stimpy and the snot eating all happened. It's all canon. It's all attached to the Ren and Stimpy name and it all comes up when you search the show. The quiet inclusions of Stimpy in some of the Nicktoons sports games were always funny to me. APC is like a giant elephant in the room that everyone is talking about except Nick. How can the franchise ever recover from that? It would be like if Rare decided to make a Conker sequel that brings the series back to its kid friendly roots.

>Ren and Stimpy
>Canon

Ahahahaa.

Nick still references Ren and Stimpy all the time. Hell, they have this at their animation studios.

Ren & Stimpy was never particularly kid-friendly anyway. Can't imagine marketing it to modern day pussies. Even back then it barely made it on the air.

Not to mention this at their animation studio too.

I think given what a pop culture icon Ren and Stimpy is, and what a failure Adult Party Cartoon is, people just choose not to acknowledge it. Ren and Stimpy is always changing settings and stories and everything anyway, it's not that out of the question to just pretend like APC never existed.

i like when people use this quote not knowing it's ironic. that is to say it makes me angry. Stimpy's Invention is goddamn art.

Most people use millennial to mean people born around the turn of the century because that makes sense, because there's a massive difference between born in the early 80s and late 90s, and because the term was coined long before anyone could know what it would mean.

I use the term canon loosely. It's like when people talk about Spongebob "lore". I don't mean that there's any kind of tangible story or plot to Ren and Stimpy, I just mean that APC is completely official and cannot be scrubbed from the brand.
Ren And Stimpy was very kid friendly, at least in the sense that it knew what kids wanted to see. Kids didn't want to learn lessons about sharing or forgiving your sister for breaking your shit. Kids wanted to see cartoon chatacters acting like retards and doing gross shit. It pushed the boundaries to an extreme that's unrivaled but it was all for the kids.

APC is not for kids, although Onwards And Upwards and some other visual gags are childish enough that it feels like some particularly immature kids could get a kick out of it.

There's definitely a big difference between Ren beating George Liquor with a paddle and Ren making a frog vomit its innards then reswallow them, hotwiring it, cutting its limbs off then leaving it to suffer in a garbage can.

I'm not making a broader point or suggesting that Nick give up the franchise, although it came across that way. My bad.

It's just amusing to see a kids show foray into extreme R-rated shock humor then quietly return to being a kids show as if nothing happened. I mean, you can find actual scenes from Ren And Stimpy on pornhub.

I've never seen anything else like this happen and it's fun to muse over. It's so surreal and bizarre.

>I mean, you can find actual scenes from Ren And Stimpy on pornhub.

do you realize that anyone can put whatever they want on pornhub?

>implying you never jacked off to the shower scene in Naked Beach Frenzy

There's a rumor that they were actually planning to make an APC version of Spongebob.

I remember when anons here lost their fucking minds at the discovery of Pornhub hosting the entirety of Bee Movie.

That site really is like the old wild west days of Youtube, except with a lot more porn.

So its basically Rocko's modern modern life?

That's interesting, user. We almost got a cynical, self aware Scooby Doo movie in 2002 or so, but they backed down and made it fairly conventional.

Wasn't Spongebob supposed to be a lot more risqué to begin with? Sometimes these off the wall rumors turn out to be true, like the cast being based on the 7 deadly sins.

No they don't, because all those articles about millenials are talking about their 20-something interns, not 17 year olds. It's people on Sup Forums that misuse millennial without any self awareness that they're the millenials all the Gen Xers and Boomers are criticizing.

We're all tired of these remakes, we all know that. Not many things deserves to have them. Only a few franchises can still stay fresh after all these years and offer new and good story telling.
As this user said, Rocko has finished its run, it needs no continuation. Invader Zim and Hey Arnold actually had a story left to tell. Some other shows like this exist as well, such was Samurai Jack. The good news is that execs are learning that maybe they should dig up that old unfinished show that people want back, the bad news is that they're digging up some things better left buried as well.

I have a feeling this is gonna be good.
