Treasure Planet

Can I get Sup Forumss opinion on this movie?
I watched it for the first time last night begrudgingly and came out really fucking mad that it received such poor reviews, I really liked how strong the characters were. Was it just released at a bad time?

It was released after Toy Story, 3D animation just sells better.
I really liked this movie too. There's a handful of Disney movies that didn't go anywhere that released around the same time.

Unappealing at the time taking in count Pixar was making it big with their original cgi releases. But out of the whole "2d art mixed with CGI" gimmick it is a pretty entertaining Disney adaptation, at least visually.
Story wise those who had read treasure island know how it goes and in how many parts the adaptation had to be cut short or dumbed down making then movie feel pretty rushed.
I like this movie but every time I watch it I feel like I just spend 30 minutes it even if is an hour and a half. And all for the sake of showing off how many special effects and cool visuals they could fit in.

Last I checked Sup Forums had three opinions about this movie.

A)That guy with the crap taped to his arm.
B)I wanna fug the alien thing
C)Remember that shitton of shipping porn between the Amelia and Jane from Tarzan?

Loved this movie.

This movie fucking sucks.

One of my all-time favorites, user. I'm right there with you.

Amelia was the best part.

'Tis a shame there are so few lewds of her.

...

How long till the live action remake?

Will they be able to land Russle Brand to play the robot?

Bump

this

You ain't looked in the right places my dude

>Treasure Planet
>A Goofy Movie
>An Extremely Goofy Movie
What other movies are essential father/son-core.

It's a fun film, yup. Animation is such a great medium for Space Opera. Japan produces a ton of space cartoons, but there's been relatively little over the years from anywhere else.

Less than 100 is "too few"

I thought it was pointless as hell.

It had some moments, but it's such a who cares movie

It got bad reviews because it was BAD, they butchered a good story like Disney always does and it only delivered crap.

The comic relief could be pretty hit and miss, but outside of that I think it's really underrated.

I loved the style and atmosphere of it all, and Silver was an enjoyable antagonist.

>Amelia and Jane from Tarzan?
It still baffles me.

I liked it when I watched it on Netflix recently. It does feel rushed and the characters aren't all fleshed out too well.

I can understand why this never caught on with general audiences as far as timing when it was released and the movie feeling rushed.

Still, I liked it.

Aladdin and the King of Thieves

Everything about that is so fucking pretty.

I remember loving this film as a child.
I even had some weird solar boarding racing game on PC where you had to swipe physical cards to unlock courses.

I rarely use the term "underrated", but this film is just that. It's so strange how this movie was completely forgotten in time.

> father fucks off for most of son's life to hunt treasure

Hoe about no.

I wanna fuck that cat captain.

it was fine, but doesn't deserve cult classic status

They killed the best boy

It has resulted in Sup Forums's best screencap. I wonder what that user is up to now.

someone post it

it's the BEST ship fuck you

I genuinely enjoy this film, I wish they'd gone 100% with the space aesthetic. I would have rather them had actual space ships instead of literal sailboats in space. It just makes no sense. It's like they wanted the film to be equal parts swashbuckling action adventure and sci-fi space opera and the two themes just clash too much between the costume and set design. Like, they almost should've gotten with Don Bluth a few years earlier and just made Treasure Island but with the set and costume design of Titan A.E. and firmly ground the physics in reality instead of having sailboats drifting on ether streams. Overall, I consider it a lost opportunity.

You're telling me. I just do not understand what caused it. Tarzan was 99, Treasure Planet was 02, so it's not like they were competing with each other. Just felt out of nowhere.

I really liked John silver being a father figure for Jim.

It's ok, surprising how the best parts were the action rather than the dialogue and characters which is what I usually expect from Disney. Didn't like the humour very much

It's one of my favorite animated films. It's underrated as hell, too bad we never got anything else out of it, except for that one pretty good ship combat game.

>Disney
>Underrated

The final act is such complete shit. The Ben Gunn robot is horrendously unfunny and the entire movie just stops working for some reason.

>its another thinly veiled silver-user thread

Finally. Thank you.

I never knew the laughing shoes.jpg came from that thread. Incredible.

I liked it but there was that furry coupling that I just didn't care for. However I'm still going to shill Titan A.E. because I just loved the concept so fucking much. Why don't we have more coming of age space exploration films?

I was having a shit day, but I've somehow never seen this before and just had the longest laugh I've had in a long time. Thank you user. I don't regret waking up today now.

> people still think that's real

both space films are amazing

I think it's because of this fan video someone made(they have a ton of other videos shipping random Disney characters together) youtube.com/watch?v=ahVKiBDMBHw
