Of course they did. It was a nuisance lawsuit. Any other outcome would be a chilling legal precedent heralding a sweeping upheaval limiting creative freedom across the board just to spite "big bad Disney."

I don't really care that much. I tend to side against IP laws in general, and this is one of the times it pairs me up with a corporation, I guess

Good.

cool, are we still praising this movie for being oh, so relevant?

Were they sued for that Kimba incident?

there was ntier documentary how this movie was mae, did he wanted some temporary fame or something?

nah, they changed it enough to avoid copyright infringements also tezuka was fucking dead

I knew they would, but it's obvious they stole the idea. They do that shit all the time at Disney, it's a terribly kept secret.

no they didnt

The only people that were up in arms about it were manga artists inspired by Tezuki. There was never really a big thing about it other than everyone noticing.

Yes, yes, defend your mouse overlords, good goy.

Mickey pls

>only the sloth is the same animal
>only claim is that they stole some general character archetypes
>implyng the furry community doesn't flood the market with this shit by virtue of existing

He was a dumb faggot for going up against the mouse with such a pisspoor claim

I don't feel like reading the whole thing, was there any actual evidence that they stole the idea?

youtube.com/watch?v=27IbgnYwiII

Just from the picture, none of the characters really seem alike except for the sloths, and a slow sloth character seeems like it'd be pretty generic itself right?

this is as stupid as that man who claimed he wrote harry potter first and demanded all the money from movies and books. also total recall was a shit movie

>this is as stupid as that man who claimed he wrote harry potter first
Neil Gaiman?

Yes... keep it up! Earn your pay!

I agree with the judge.

Mismatched partners is a cop-movie trope, and predator/prey is an obvious one if you're going cop movies with animals.
The designs really aren't very similar besides conforming to the same cop movies tropes. You could take Brooklyn 99 characters and make a similar chart. It's not like "cop movie with animal characters" is some sort of groundbreaking premise.

HEY! you are on Sup Forums, you are supposed to hate Disney because they are rich, also a corporation, something something jews, flat earth, illuminaty and also rich again while the true american heroes of Sup Forums draw porn on their basements and get no respect for it. this is like another hall of cost!

BASED DISNEY

Disney literally did nothing wrong in this case. The Total Recall guy just want to jew them out of their money. He's reaching hard with the comparison.

This

It's pathetic how Sup Forums retards want us to hate Disney when the only thing they ever do is put out great movies

It's just stupid

>He's reaching hard with the comparison.

He didn't even need the comparison. He gave Disney the project called "Zootopia". The comparison was there only to establish that it was, indeed, about an animal world, rather than "in name only".

oh boy oh boy boy

i cant wait now for zootopia to be popular
just imagine: shorts, comics, book, toys, plushies, merchandise!

Among the dumbest lawsuits I've ever heard of. Would have to ignore many movies in the past featuring bipedal talking animals.
The only thing he might have gotten away with was the name, but putting together Zoo and Utopia together isn't exactly a groundbreaking idea.

Sup Sup Forumsmblr.

>Goldman described working with Disney on another film and pitching his own project (titled Looney) to the studio at least twice.
>titled Looney

sup my fellow neo-nazi blue eyes aryan friend! boy! I sure am in the mood of killing some fucking jews so they leave alone all our money/culture alone already.

Sup Sup Forumstard

Big day for you isn't it

I wanna fuck that cheetah

Better than the retarded fat faggot cheetah in Zootopia

How about this?

youtube.com/watch?v=tqlaPttudUc

He pitched them a similar idea with similar characters and similar plot points ten years ago and they didn't accept it, only to release a similar movie ten years later.
The judge decided that the lawsuit was bullshit since everything is very generic.
There was a lawsuit. Disney had enough money and lawyers to stall until the other guys ran out of money and had to drop the lawsuit.

>It said the true story, so nothing is altered!

>Sup Forums retards want us to hate Disney
>Sup Forums
>hating on anything related to Walt "Gas the Jews, Race War Now" Disney

I don't even know who's trolling who anymore.

>tries to win a case against Disney

Not to mention that in the animation industry, artists go in and out of companies ALL the time. After 10 years it's likely that most of the people who knew about Goldman's pitch weren't even at Disney anymore.

YES! YES! YES!

The concept is honestly VERY cliche, so I'm kind of glad Disney won because this is some stupid nitpicking over a movie made on cliche/basic ideas.

Z2 announcement soon. not

Wasn't this a similar deal like the guy who tried to go to court over Kung Fu panda being stolen from him?

In that he went back and changed shit to try to make it look legit.

wew
Someone's triggered.

Nah, though the books were ripped off another children's book about a witches school. Shits pretty straight up cept Harry is a girl in those.

I'm surprised s(he) hasn't killed itself after the election

ANTI-DISNEY BTFO!!!

AHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA

Doubt

In what way as it obvious? There's almost no overlap.

>He gave Disney the project called "Zootopia".
He pitched a product called "Loony" about an animator who makes animal characters, and tried to make the claim in court that the name "Zootopia" was somehow attached to it.

>trying to take on the House of Mouse's lawyers

Alright, now just confirm Zootopia 2 at D23.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Worst_Witch

Shit's uncomfortably close in places.

LWA, sure, but it doesn't sound much like Harry Potter

It literally sounds nothing like Harry Potter except for the fact that it involves a magical school.

thats what you get when you try to mess with the mouse, cuck.

SOON

you dont need to be a fascist to complain about something... in fact fascism is blind obedience

...

They won because neither Zootopia was particularly original to begin with.

Each is composed of motifs extremely common to anthropomorphic allegorical storytelling. Hell, part of the lawsuit tries to even persue the fact that the animals are largely "African", as though African animals are unique to the prosecutor's story.

None of you care about the agrument this lawsuit presents at all, or what disaster of legal precedent it would set had it gone through.

Keep posting this.

...

Why don't you think I care?

Why won't this mediocre movie just fade away already.

For all of the hype for this movie being socially progressive and relevant to our times, it was quite dull and not particularly funny.

The sight gags and "witty" banter isn't that well written, and the focus on furry fan service detracted from the core theme of this movie.

I was not impressed with this movie, to say the least.

The real legacy of the movie is the invasive furry porn permeating the internet.

>Why won't this mediocre movie just fade away already.
If you're seriously asking this it doesn't matter anymore...

Worst Witch predated HP by a decade AT LEAST, but beyond the not too original concept of British boarding school for magical kids, there's not much overlap. They're basically "What if Neville Longbottom was the protagonist and a cute girl except he never stopped being shit at magic?" Wizards and Witches go to different schools, magic is different, they're short children's books with no real ongoing storyline, there's a school bully because it's a fucking children's book set in a school, of course there's a bully character. There's a bitchy potions teacher who dislikes the protagonist but she didn't want to fuck her mum. There's no Dark Lord and not much emphasis on monsters or creatures. It's got far more inc common with P.L. Travers or Enid Blyton stories than J.K. Rowling's, and most similarities are due to Harry Potter being pretty formulaic in general.
