Miles Morales

So is Miles Morales actually interesting or is it just that everyone likes him because he's black?

He's not interesting and nobody likes him

Hi person who hasn't been in a single fucking Miles thread in the past 5-6 years for some dumbass reason.

Nobody truly likes or dislikes him because he's black, because he barely has any black qualities due to being written by a greasy bald wizard who shall not be named.

He's boring as fuck and that's not changing anytime soon.

"havent been in a single fucking miles thread in the past 5-6 years for some dumbass reason"

Maybe because I don't care about Miles. However on a bunch of other sites all I ever see in reference to a Spider-Man movie is "IS MILES GONNA BE IN THE NEXT ONE OMGGGGgg"

He used to interesting and was supposed to replace ultimste peter
Then they brought him to 616 so his existence is meaningless

Miles is the only character to replace someone for god. He still is replacing ultimate pete.

Sam is back as falcon, Odison will be thor again.

Don't worry ryry and cho are forever.

Some of us see shota porn potential in him.

>However on a bunch of other sites all I ever see in reference to a Spider-Man movie is "IS MILES GONNA BE IN THE NEXT ONE OMGGGGgg"

Where do you see that ever? The only publicity I see about Miles is "Yup, he's the black Spidey!"

And learn how to greentext quote for crying out loud, user.

I'm more interested in generic black gangster Miles than in actual Miles.

that's probably a post by a tumblr type that marvel caters to that doesn't buy comics

I think they are going to reveal that he is in love with his fat asian friend.

How do you know that he is black gangster? Because he is a scarface man?

YouTube and Facebook mostly. Any MCU normie on social media will say something about Miles before they ever say anything about 2099 or Scarlett Spider, so I thought miles popularity has to be something besides a black Spider-Man

And because of Peter's reaction. And because Bendis couldn't possibly write anything interesting. My bet is that Miles will be revealed as something like Alex's dad from the Pride. Except shit.

Unless they're bringing up actual cool shit that Miles did or said (which does exist, believe it or not), or they're bringing up one of his many "pairings", they're being full of shit.

Miles' only real hooks are

A) He's black

B) He's not Peter Parker

Neither is really doing a whole lot for him.

He was the first major test of killing off an original and race swapping a character. Because Ultimates was an AU, Ultimate Parker got a decent death and the continuity was such a shit show already, nobody cared that much.

Alright. I'll bite. What's the coolest thing that Miles has ever said? As far as the coolest thing he did, it's what? Show up in that hentai spiderverse parody?

fpbp

So is Miles Morales actually shit or is just that everyone hates him because he's black?

>hentai spiderverse parody
At least he is good for something.

I hate him for both reasons. He's a shit character and a forced minority legacy character so progressive retards can pat themselves on the back

People want to see him in more stuff so that he can become interesting. Peter is interesting, but that's easy when you've been in a thousand pieces of media with many writers (both good and bad) at your helm. Miles has really only had Bendis on his comics and a few episodes of Ultimate Spiderman under his belt. The best rendition of him to me was when he was in that first arc of Totally Awesome Hulk. He still has a lot of potential and growing to do.

His venom blast makes him a truly terrible character. Until he gets rid of that instant win button Sup Forums is never going to give two shits about him because there's never any stakes with his character.

>it's another Miles' hate topic

no one likes him

When he wanted to bring back his father.

>it's another Miles' hate day

His first run in the Ultimate Comics was legit. His current run is pure trash.

>it's another Miles' hate month

I really like his suit.

>ywn see Peter take on Miles as a sidekick, having him develop into the surrogate son he never had

So much story potential...but no, let's just keep throwing Miles on random teams and hope it sticks.

Read his comics and find out. READ. COMIC. BOOKS.

No, he isn't. He's been written by pretty much ONLY Bendis.

I don't care for Miles because he's been a character for over 5 years, and he doesn't have a personality beyond "Peter, except he's black". There's no great Miles stories, none that you would list among GOAT Spidey stories in general.

Black.
Hes got zero personality and wins every fight with his stupid one-hot venom blast

Really depends on who you ask, given everyone has different tastes & looks for different things in characters. I personally enjoy Miles. I few years ago I marathoned his entire run & have been keeping up with is main books. He's just a good kid trying to live up to the mantle of Spider-Man and make the best of his situation. I like the interactions he has with his friends & family & the shenanigans he gets into. Plus I like the fact that most of his main runs have had really decent art.

>That in sufferable repetitive Bendispeak
So glad Im not reading that garbage

The wrong Spider-person survived Ultimate's death

This. He's a boring character plain and simple.

If Marvel wanted to go full progressive, they could do a good story with Miles about police and African Americans

Imagine a brief 2 to 3 issue arc where he's arrested and being harassed by police; he knows he could easily get away because he's (a) Spider-man, but he can't do it without revealing his identity to the police or causing further problems.

Or maybe an arc where a BLM protest goes bad and he has to choose between his desire for equal treatment vs his support of law and order.

Marvel likes to be "progressive" in all the ways but what counts. Throwing a black guy in a new costume isn't progressive. You actually have to make a statement.

Shit or get off the pot.

>Peter is interesting, but that's easy when you've been in a thousand pieces of media with many writers (both good and bad) at your helm.
Peter was interesting within his first fucking appearance. Miles is just... there.

Garbage?

Describe his personality without mentioning Spider-man

I'd rather just have Peter finally have an actual kid with MJ so the character can get back to growing.

Does every Bendis panel have some form of repetition?

Repetition?

Bendis' Spiderman stuff. Trash.

Trash? Like garbage? You're so talking about refuse right now.

That sounds horrendous.

Refuse? Like, not liking bendis?

If you were actually there to read Peter's first appearance ever, I commend you for being the oldest of oldfags. But when Peter was created superheroes were no where near close to what they are now in terms of oversaturation and mainstream appeal. And if you read his first appearance anytime after it he was created you likely aren't coming in completely fresh and already have your own bias.

Over-caring, occasionally careless, & nervous at times
>inb4 muh peter clone
Well, when you take into account that peter's your basic self-insert for a lot of comic fans, then of course. I still enjoy Miles

Miles himself is not interesting in the least, but his supporting cast has potential, but then again, he poached like half of it from other shit.

Not to mention, this is the REAL Miles. As in the Miles actually native to the main continuity, not just some paradoxical reminant of a dead reality Eternity felt sorry for.

Or you know, just know a thing or two about the history of the character. The entire reason why ASM even started was because the Spider-Man character from Amazing Fantasy really appealed towards people.

A shiny new toy from a shiny new genre. I thought the first superheroes I saw were cool as fuck too. There's nothing remarkable about Peter Parker himself, the what he's been through and how he's grown is what makes him interesting. The only way Miles gets that is through time.

Spider-Girl says the exact same thing twice in one panel.
