What's Battleborn?

Killing joke animated

Batman Vs Superman while Civil War is Overwatch

>Best joke

But this is exactly why I'm getting sick of the MCU. It's all quips, all the time. Gets old, desu.

Game that's better than Overwatch. But didn't have that many titties.

youtube.com/watch?v=FElmjlzdSSM

a legitimately fun game that had some issues at launch and the misfortune of trying to compete against Overwatch and not realizing how brutal and petty Blizzard can get towards those it sees as competition

also it's now available for free, so go give it a try

A game a producer tried to promote by pointing people to a Battleborn porn sub-reddit. Which led to people flooding it with Overwatch porn

This is a complaint I see super often on Sup Forums but I never quite get it. I see the humor as a big part of MCUs charm; it has been since Iron Man came out. It's like buying tickets to a musical and complaining about too much rhyme.

I would understand more if you just thought the humor sucked and wasn't funny at all, but instead it's like people want less humor and not better humor. If I go in expecting quips and jokes and snappy dialogue, and that's what I get and it's done half decent, leave satisfied. There's this weird idea that every series needs to take a left turn eventually and experiment rather than run its course and I don't get it.

Less humor is better humor, because the MCU inserts humor everywhere, no matter if it fits the tone of a scene or the character speaking it.

> misfortune of trying to compete against Overwatch
Paladins is doing the same thing and seems to do pretty ok.

Less popular does not mean better, my cynical friend.

I personally am only annoyed by the quips and humor in the trailers, because it's just a string of jokes right after each other which little context to show how wacky the movie is.
Maybe that's why the Ragnarok trailer is so good, it only has one joke instead of 6 half jokes

That's because Paladins sells himself as "poor man's overwatch" and people who aren't willing to pay for Overwatch are ok with this

>Paladins is doing the same thing and seems to do pretty ok.
that's cause they waited till after Overwatch came out, also because Paladins is a free to play game(notably Gearbox had wanted Battleborn to be a free to play game from the start but 2K didn't want that for whatever reason, really most of the problems it's had are due to 2K's ineptness as a publisher)

Captain Marvel

I don't think 2K's ineptness has anything to do with the game's awful attempts at humor.

Paladins is barely like overwatch though.

Less humor the better? But I loved Airplane.

I disagree that it destroys the tone of certain scenes. The reason I care about these characters is that I find them charming, so making them act taciturn would not necessarily make me want to root for them more. It's nice that even when there's tension they're still acting like the characters I've come to see. Just my two cents.

>flooding it with Overwatch porn

Man, Overwatch Fans are the New CoD Fans

third post best post

Reminder that all the Overwatch Characters like Pineapple Pizza

...

Can't tell if serious or joking. Laughed either way

It's good taste.

There is literally nothing wrong with pineapple on pizza.

>I don't think 2K's ineptness has anything to do with the game's awful attempts at humor.
some of the jokes are hit and miss but I do think it's overall pretty good

>not realizing how brutal and petty Blizzard can get towards those it sees as competition
I'm almost positive that Gearbox's attempt wasn't even a blip on Blizzard's radar, or was a very small blip.

Overwatch was already set. A year or so of hype, great designs that made people want to play them, and enjoyable to watch as well. Not to mention Blizzard's brand itself. There's a reason Blizzard has its own convention.

Gearbox was either prideful enough or stupid enough to try and compete against Overwatch when Blizzard wouldn't have had to do ANYTHING and still outshine it.

You simply don't release the same genre of game against other big names. It's why Titanfall 2 got such a low player turnout because it released right after Battlefield 1 and right before Call of Duty. It doesn't matter how good your game is if it goes up against a fucking juggernaut of a company.

Inhumans.

Battleborn released at 60 dollars and I think a week before Overwatch
They also didn't bother advertising because they assumed that "From some of the people who played Borderlands 2" was enough advertisement

>Tigole has shit taste in pizza
Color me completely unsurprised.

Suphero movies aren't fucking comedies. They're a sub genre of action/adventure. Their primary focus should be on telling a story that has intense action and supheroics. Any humor should be used only to grease the wheels. Marvel movies are only concerned with showing how silly superheroes are. They milk the audience for chuckles and then worry about a plot later.

>Marvel movies are only concerned with showing how silly superheroes are.
Because superheroes are silly. That's why they're so great.

Super ones are great because they show the better parts of humanity. They inspire us to be better people and work harder. If you want clowns, go to a circus or a comedy club.

So you want Zack Snyder to direct every superhero. Got it.

>Super ones are great because they show the better parts of humanity.
Oh fuck off with your pretentious bullshit.

Batman is a guy who dresses like a bat because he was scared of them and fights a clown, a guy who spouts riddles, a guy dressed like a scarecrow and a fucking luchador on steroids, to name a few. You can tell a serious story with him, yes, but do not for a second forget that the core of him is a very silly premise.

Captain America is a guy who wanted to be a soldier super bad and took part in an experiment that gave him superhuman abilities. His villains include a guy with a thin red skull for a head, a frenchman who's in good shape, and a guy in a white hood and skull mask.

Superheroes are silly. It's because they're silly but want to help people that makes them human to us. I believe that movie Captain America is someone who wants to help people and I would believe in him and want to be him more than I would the last two incarnations of movie Batman who try to take the entire thing way too seriously. And Captain America is the one who is in the "only silly superheroes" universe.

The most popular superhero in the world heavily features a clown. Superheroes are silly entertainment for children.

>Suphero movies aren't fucking comedies.
Doesn't mean they can't have a comedic focus. Who wrote that rule, you? Well I don't like your rule. Here's my rule: Stop watching shit that doesn't appeal to you and getting annoyed that it appeals to anyone.

>judging an entire genre based solely on first visual impressions
Congrats. You're looking at superheroes the exact same way a casual/normie would.

>"If you hate it, don't watch it!"
>But never complain about it either, no matter what. You're not allowed to dislike things!
>How can you hate it if you never even gave it a try?
Morons. All of you.

adding to this, batman is just as shitty as his villains because his dipshit "killing is wrong" code just gets more people killed. joker kills people, batso puts him in arkham, joker escapes, joker kills people, repeat forever.

>solely on first visual impressions
Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot about the gripping narrative and psychological drama that was attached to the billionaire dressed like a bat with a child sidekick in red and green, fighting crime but also fighting against aliens with an alien farmboy reporter, a warrior from the Amazons, a half-robotic black man, a martian, a guy who can shoot green light out to form whatever weapon he wants, and a guy who has a magical speedforce that lets him go faster than humanly possible.

Superheroes are silly, user. Again, that doesn't mean they can't be serious vehicles about human potential and morality, but it has to be really, really good in order to make you forget that it's still adults dressing up in suits to fight against silly criminals.

Does Marvel focus on it too much? That's really opinion-based, but I can agree on it. But don't for a second act like it isn't applicable or reasonable for them to have comedy attached.

It has Orendi though

Literally this.
A genuinely fun and funny show that got bad publicity by pissed off Sonic fans and was immediately thrown under the bus by Cartoon Network at a morning timeslots. It is a lot funnier than the last tryhard Sonic shows due to better writers. Everyone dismisses it due its strange character designs and unimpressive animation but anyone who actually watched it knows it's decent.

It's eerily similar to me in the way that I find both Gearbox and Sonic Team annoying but really like Battleborn and Boom.

>But don't for a second act like it isn't applicable or reasonable for them to have comedy attached.

Look here >Any humor should be used only to grease the wheels

At what point did I imply in this post that there should NEVER be any humor in superhero films? My point is that there should be a balance. Wonder Woman found that balance. Winter Soldier found that balance. These are proper superhero stories.

And what is not proper?

I feel like you guys who complain about the humor in these films think it's a quip every other line.

>And what is not proper?
Please use critical thinking skills, user.

If it's proper to exercise a balance between tension and humor, then what is not proper?

Ghostbusters 2016. both tried to sell themselves as the first thing ever with non-sexualized badass women, both got decent reviews from the press and both were loathed by lots of people since they were announced, both flopped miserably and were forgotten soon after they were released.

No, I mean what film did not use "the balance" correctly?

>enjoying the fembusters movie

Hi, Dobson

Its because its the only criticism that people looking for against the MCU have found that's stuck.

But with quips, the argument goes:

"This movie has jokes in it!"

"Yes, I suppose it does have its funny moments..."

"TOLD YOU SHITSUX BRO"

Which gives user that cool, *natural* high that comes from proving yourself to be smugly superior to something that is popular.

a-all of them?

Even Bastion?

Most of them are hit or miss on pineapple pizza, but Morrison orders it every time because HE likes it, so that's what gets delivered.
Reyes was allergic to citris.
Now you know the true, dark secret of why he turned on Overwatch.

The Best Character in that Game

Man of Steel and BvS took themselves too seriously. Every MCU film barring Ant-Man and the Guardians movies didn't take themselves seriously enough. It's clear what most audiences prefer though. They rather a cape movie be sillier than more tense because that's what audiences have come to expect from the genre at face value.

>Every MCU film barring Ant-Man and the Guardians movies didn't take themselves seriously enough.
I phrased that wrong. Winter Soldier took itself seriously. As did Cap #1. Both had good balance.

Where in that post did he imply that he LIKED Battleborn? "Non-sexualized Badass" women is a buzzword in itself.

Marvel comics circa 2010.

The problem with the Snyder movies wasn't that it was 'tense', its that they demanded to be taken seriously but didn't have the chops to back it up.

The scriptwork for both of those movies was weak, and the editing wasn't doing them any favors either. If the movie promises you nothing more than a good time, you are more likely to forgive its flaws because it never promised you a masterpiece.

But the whole tone of MoS and BvS IS promising you a masterpiece, and while you get some cool visuals the substance behind it is a mess. BvS was so up its own ass about symbolic dreams and flashbacks that I still don't know whether the horse conversation on the mountain was a memory, a hallucination, or just a fucking metaphor portrayed onscreen for some reason because it has no narrative context whatsoever and doesn't connect to anything else in the film.

tldr: if you are going to make your movie 'serious' rather than fun, it has to also actually be good or people will call it on its bullshit.

I don't give a shit about any of that, I just think it's dumb that your biggest complaint is that they're doing superhero movies "wrong" as if you have some cape flick ten commandments up your butt.

You have every right to say the movies aren't to your taste and I have every right to think your opinions suck and I'm tired of hearing the same weird non-complaint over and over and over. Goes both ways.

Now just edit pineapple pizza slices in shrug!Reyes' hands

To be honest, though, the Marvel side of comics has always been a bit more silly in terms of their superheroes than DC has been. It makes sense that Marvel would opt on the side of silly.

And like you said, it's clear that's what most audiences prefer. On that same coin, one of the most well-received movies in superhero film history is still The Dark Knight, which both takes itself entirely seriously, keeps itself going with tension, and has very few humorous moments.

So I'll say that I prefer a bit of a serious tone to it, but Marvel was never going to be the one to bring it. DC is the one who's supposed to bring it, but they failed.

And still, I gotta emphasize, Superheroes are Silly. It doesn't matter how far you stretch it, they are still going to be silly.

Something people were glad failed. Not because it was bad but because randy pitchford needs to be raped to death after aliens colonial marines.

>aliens colonial marines.
I've played worse games but that was indeed a huge disappointment

I'm still not over that Fucking Lex Luthor

An absolute failure of a game, full with unfun gameplay, unfappable waifus and Randy Bobandy, a failure of a human being, as their lead developer.

youtube.com/watch?v=bozvLUp0f1o
Watch it and say that again.

fuck off, Randy

fuck even tf2 is still holding its ground against overwatch and it hasn't had an update in over a year and interest has been naturally declining for the past decade.

And borderlands and Duke nukem

WTF, I love Overwatch now.

Still best girl

You can't put Borderlands on the same level as Duke Nukem. For fucks sake have a heart

>created first but always trailing second to it's similar rival

Battleborn is DC, Overwatch is Marvel.

Forever was such a huge disappointment.

Overwatch constantly shits on its loyal fans?

I honestly doubt it will happen, but the actual question should be when it will happen. And even then people would still play Overwatch unless they really ducked up.

Also, it's connected to a really bad game. The TV show is its own entity, but the game really soured people on the new take with Sonic.

Which one is TF2?

Timely comics?

It's gotta be this piece of shit

TopCow.

EC Comics

judging by the character design, anything Rob Liefeld did

Your point being?

That's what I meant by bad publicity. Both had almost no ads and had Rise of Lyric and Aliens: Colonial Marines fresh in our minds.

I like Battleborn's character designs more than Overwatch. I like its cartoon asthetic.

For almost no apparent reason, Overwatch move up their release date, most speculating to spite Battleborn.
