actual special needs or something you just added?

like father like son I guess.

this question is important

Well, at least he's not drawing girls with dicks.

Yet.

Not actually special needs afaik, Ben is truly just this incompetent art-wise. No need to feel sorry for the guy.

Who?

Never thought this guy could get any worse.

youtu.be/vbF1Yol_D7Q

>he didn't notice the bulge

For those who don't know, Ben has been doing artist spotlights to showcase the "best artists on the internet". Coincidentally, I suppose, every single episode so far has been about artists who draw cartoon porn. Really makes you think.

I can understand wanting to draw a bunch of porn, or letting your dick control your drawing hand. I get that, we're only human, and if we have the ability to create something we deem tantalizing, we're probably going to do it.

But there comes a point where you have to look at your work and say "...you know, this isn't actually erotic, sexy, or attractive at all. What in the Hell have I been doing?" And then take time to learn the basics of anatomy so that you can effectively bend the rules you know, instead of bend the rules you have not one iota of an inkling of.

My brother is almost the same. He hasn't gone to an art school, but has drawn for ~20 years. He thinks that he is the greatest artist ever and thinks he is a professional but his art is worse than bennys.

>there are kids with actual talent and passion who can't afford art school, and either go into debt to do it, or just bottle it up and waste away.

Marx was right

Post it.

>How do they feel?

Happy that they went into one of the few areas of art where they're likely to make money.

P-people pay money for this shit?

When did Marx say that? It's like he predicted Hitler.

With such low prices how could they not? Also I'm sure this guy draws ballbusting porn.

Clearly not since the price dropped

>going to artschool
Why do westerners fall for this shit

It's a great place to make connection, nothing else really.

Not many, I'd imagine. His commissions folder on deviantArt isn't exactly highly populated. And given that he slashed the prices, and recently, he may be in a drought of customers.

But the fact that ANYONE is buying this shit is a terrifying precedent.

Mandatory for these type of threads.

This. I started drawing "professionally" during my junior year of high school and now 7 years later I'm making a good living drawing both lewds and non lewds, sure I may never get the connections but if Otto Schmidt is doing Green Arrow I don't think my chances are that low

connections don't mean shit if you're blatantly unskilled. Unless you're charismatic, and most of these dorks are not.

Find me a wildly recognized internet artist, especially one that does commissions, that never drew porn, even under aliases.

>students graduate no matter what
clearly they don't have any real schools in whatever cornfield you grew up in

primarily* cartoon porn, that is. Most of these people have entire galleries of pinups on DA just like Ben. Additionally, aside from shaddai over there, most of who he has talked about are literally whos

youtube.com/watch?v=x35FxR2OosM

If you count teenage fanboy/fangirl years, pretty much every artist has drawn something lewd.

Were those the pictures in their portfolios? I actually feel kinda good about myself... I'm better at actually drawing than someone trying to get into art school.

This is why I opted not to go to art school. The rates are excessive and the curriculum isn't taxing enough.
I ended up taking private lessons with a former professor on my own time and it helped tremendously.

I can guarantee he's at least autistic.

>primarily* cartoon porn
I think that's most of the drawn kind of porn, especially if you aggregate anime as a type of cartoon.
>most of who he has talked about are literally whos
Good for them, it's called a spotlight because you bring unknown people to the masses.

That's my point

user, scroll up.
Those are the pieces of people with MFAs. Six or seven years of college education.

It depends on if you count softcore or not.
There are factually artists who have not drawn people having sex, just naked people.

please move to China, keep your communism out of here.

Oh...

And it's outrageous; A lot of people will see that degree and just assume, oh yeah, they're qualified.

I'm not a top tier artist, but when I see some of the 'professional' artist that work for big industries, or even just regularly commissioned, it's so disheartening.

I should be able to find steady work outside of the occasional logo vectoring or soft drink promo.

Its very artsy

Because most Americans are stupid hicks living in some bumblefuck nowhere in the great swaths of small town nothing that fills the space between the half a dozen relevant places in the US. With laughably underfunded, poorly standardized, and just generally low quality education in the country you can't actually expect most of those people to be up to snuff for any kind of a real secondary education curriculum. But as the urban centers attempt to push their professional bars higher the associated schooling becomes more valuable and the wider the gap between a joke of a high school diploma and the actual functioning work force the more sham schools looking to get rich on tuition fees fill in the gap. It's bad enough in the places where there are actually people, but then you get these hicks who're playing their whole life with lag (picking up on basic taken for granted amenities 10+ years after they've hit general market, the kinds of backwards towns where if your coroner or lawyer or locksmith dies they have to find someone from an entirely different town to fill that niche) and far from being anything remotely desirable to any work force they get targeted by the bottom of the barrel schools that know they don't even understand what an education is, who know they hardly have to scam them at all they're so dumb, that could just ask them for the money in exchange for a piece of paper and no education at all and would probably still get away with it. But once a trend like that takes off there's no stopping it because there are more of those bumble fuck nowheres than there are major cities, and now by sheer force of number there are places where quite literally people have never seen what an actual school looks like.

should also be noted:
>Ben draws porn of cartoon girls
>his "top 10 hottest animated women" is mostly girls 15 & under
>he's drawn lots of porn of underage girls
>he's drawn porn of both himself and people he knows
>he plays along with people wanting to role play with his porn in the comments section
and I could probably go on

He says he's showcasing the best artists the internet has to offer, and blatantly refers to some of these people as friends.

>mfw no compenent art schools in Tacoland
>even the local bleeding-heart artists draw like shit
Why is getting into fine art so hard for non-murrikans?

Good thing I imported the entire collection of pic related (which, btw, has an AWFUL spanish translation and it's out of print).

Oh, in that case that's bullshit

I've got bad news for you user - that's the sort of art that gets into major galleries and rich people pay lots of money for as an investment.

>Good for them, it's called a spotlight because you bring unknown people to the masses.
from what I've heard, most of these people have larger followings than ben

>he's drawn porn of both himself and people he knows

now now user

not everybody graduates from a cornfield, some of them conceal fiendish mazes to consume the unwary

thus is the Corn King satisfied and his blessing granted to the harvest

I'd assume from the choices, the higher-scale obnoxious waifu fags on this board

I mean, who the fuck even remembered Pink girl until FOTM happened?

SCAD is like this and it's one of the biggest art colleges around. You have to actively sabotage yourself to fail.

>keep your special needs child in his fantasy career of making cartoons for kids

Well there's your problem. Art is never a good career option and you should do everything to discourage it.

>Good thing I imported the entire collection of pic related

Those are free in web archive these days.

Graduated animator myself, problem in my country is the circles are very small because theres not huge demand for animation in my country (aside from mobile game companies) and the amount of work you have to do is big enough to scare away most "art students". 21 eager animators in the beginners course, only 7 left after the beginners course. And only 3 of us graduated in the end.

You could see how most students who had their parents pay the tuition for them were there just to feel special about themselves. Instead of doing demanding projects they sat on Twitter and Facebook all day. I had to fund the school with the money I got from 6 years of hard labor in a factory so I was baffled why they were wasting so much time in such a costly school instead of working their asses off and learning everything they don't know how to do well.

Same here. I'm now inspired to get back into drawing. I don't know how I was lucky and got a high school art teacher who taught how to draw realistic art.

For someone who wants to get into animation someday, there are very little things that are more depressing to me than this image.

So sad.
I can see what he meant by they don't want to learn how to paint, they want to paint themselves. Every single one looks like they tried to turn their shit way of drawing or painting into a art style. Really shows off how big their egos are.

Pretty annoyed, since all that money was spent and the little cunt didn't learn to fucking draw.

Unfortunately a lot of it today is putting on a internet persona and using charisma. Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Deviantart, and other bullshit.

I bet they feel awful. I mean, look at that anatomy! Just awful. It's barely even fappable.

>pay butt-loads of money for a degree that, by definition, demonstrates nothing
I would never do something so stupid and enabling. If he wants a useless degree he can go to a proper University and "earn" one. Or at least an art school that takes itself seriously and actually rejects/fails students.

>For someone who wants to get into animation someday, there are very little things that are more depressing to me than this image.

Well, good news is theres not that much competition in the field these days. And that you can self-teach yourself better than most art schools can teach you with a fee.

Heres all the Loomis:

archive.org/search.php?query=andrew loomis

Heres videos for Croquis drawings:

youtube.com/playlist?list=PLOq-SnwbtX9u231janaHRCo3tcTWshKML

Then add in books Animator's Survival Kit (where the quote is from), Disney's Illusion of Life and Scott McCloud Making Comics, make a vow you will draw something every single day (even stupid 15 minute scribbles, just ANYTHING once per day) and you're all set.

I'm sure theres Toon Boom torrents somewhere if you look hard enough.

Saved for later. God's work user.

Just remember the point of Croquis is the draw the whole figure within the limited amount of time. 5 minutes is the maximum amount of time and you can make the time shorter from there by your own decision. Best scenario draw with no eraser, or with thick inking pens/coal.

Those severe restrictions force you to concentrate on quickly drawing the essentials, which can help you tremendously in getting confidence in your drawing ability.

This reminds me of a great website called conceptart . org

Furries and terrible Deviantart artists with boosted egos have wandered in and have left because they try to correct them instead of stroke their ego.

I'd be terrified to post my art there. Artists with real work history behind them like published comics post there are give chriticism and advice.

They closed off access without an account, so here is a website that cataloged the luz. Be warned the site has NSFW ads. I'm going to share the story of Nibru that happened when a highschool kid asked professional artists to draw his lined paper skribbles.

Warning again: ads on the side of the page are bad.
encyclopediadramatica.rs/ConceptArt

Really?
I would be excited
No competition at all

The Legend of Nibru
It began as it always does; beginner artist enters CA thinking it's DA and made up of similar beginner artists when in reality it's populated by industry professionals and serious students. The new artist, known as "divinenibru" also thought that his little activity, based around other artists drawing their interpretations of his very lulz-worthy character named "Nibru", was awfully unique and worthy of everyone's time (despite the fact that many activities already take place each week on CA, some with prizes, some led or joined by pros).

He's what I imagine my Guardian Angel to look like.

—divinenibru,

Things that should remain constant through all interpretations:
- The Halo on top of his head, it should be a solid halo-shaped object above his head. The stripes don't have to be there though...
- His Mouth is stitched shut, his eye brows are composed of stitches and the marks on his right and left cheek (think of them as warpaint)
- He is old, has only his left eye and has long hair
- A Necklace that's the letter M
- He should be carrying a spear but the design of the spear can change

—divinenibru being unintentionally funny

McCloud and finding someone, anyone with some professional knowledge to get feedback from is enough to become a competent comics artist alone. It's insane how many published artists in American Comics can't draw figures outside of 10 set poses. The Jim Lees of the world have ruined artistry.

Wesburt (a guy who's done work for Sony, EA & Activision) becomes Nibru's first disciple
Faced with a possible tartlet armed with a drawing made on lined paper, the jaded denizens of CA expected the obvious; zero participation with some light flaming leading to the eventual closing of the thread.

Wesburt decided that enough was enough. Rather than mock the new user in customary passive-aggressive fashion, or direct them to CA's activity center, Wes did what no professional had previously dared; he joined in, becoming the first disciple and honorary templar in the church of Nibru. Like a true Nibru knight, he kept the trademark lined paper.
With one of their own taking the plunge, the art dragons of CA spread their sparkling wings, opened their gaping maws and unleashed a fiery barrage of professional-grade art based on a high school kid's doodle of a stitch-faced, MacDonalds-endorsing sneaker-wearing emo wizard with a doughnut on his head scrawled on notebook paper. Artists who had worked on AAA projects were joining in left and right, and over the course of the next few days CA users lawled and basked in the warm glow of pure, unrefined hilarity, all the while divinenibru (apparently having no concept either satire or what constitutes professional art) thought he had made some new friends.

Problem with Conceptart.org is that you're not going to get much help unless you take part in some pros free course in there, ironically you get the most attention if you're already good, so its more useful with pros sharing tips with each other.

I remember having a sketchbook there for half a year and the only feedback and criticism I got was "read Loomis/these books" every once in a while with no specification on what was wrong. So I got the books and read them and started self-educating because the forums sure weren't any fucking help.

Most help I got was when we started doing animation shorts in animation school. The sheer amount of work you're required to do eventually makes you better at drawing by itself, because you literally draw the same thing over and over again hundreds of times to get 10-20 seconds of footage.

>McCloud and finding someone, anyone with some professional knowledge to get feedback from is enough to become a competent comics artist alone.

Well, the meat of learning is to draw a ton of drawings. The magical 10,000 drawings limit is not bullshit, you can't help but be better at what you do once you've reached that treshold.

You learn extra fast if you challenge yourself to learn everything you're bad at, instead of drawing the same thing over and over again. You have plenty of time to draw the same thing over and over again when people start commissioning you the same stuff all the time.

>How do they feel?
proud because he's my son.
Gid you all had to have an abusive childhood.
Didn't your parents support you no matter what?

>haha i can see her underwear!
I'd probably blacken his eye.

Y-yeah....what kind of idiot would waste all that time and money. Especially if they still left a shitty artist with no connections.

>The closest thing to an online artist community that actually gives feedback I can find is fucking /ic/

It's fine, because the reason he wanted this was for societal notice and/or praise, and he gets it since this modern world enables bad art and parades it under "acceptance", like fat praising and saying anyone who says it might be unhealthy is a hater and to be ignored, same here with people "shitting on wonderful art"

he got what he wanted because if you want praise where you don't deserve it, nows the time

>Unless you're charismatic, and most of these dorks are not.
Or you could go full Greg Land.

Word of advice: don't go full Greg Land.

it's actually more likely that he'll just be ignored

Money is money.
The degrading shit I'd do to get a decent consistent paycheck for my art.
Especially if it allows me to actually work on what I want in my off time.

Plague of Gripes
:^)

Proof or fuck off.

And yet, America is still the most successful country in the world, with the most successful companies, and the most far-reaching culture (whether or not people like it or asked for it).

Is the rest of the world even trying?

>>Captcha: select all street signs
>>Do it 4 fucking times with no obvious errors
>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
New Captachas are annoying.

Outline and Select/Find all are fine (granted the ones where you need to find all the apartment buildings or bridges in the backgrounds of pictures of street signs are a bit annoying), but that one were you have to click lots to select one thing and then it asks you for two things that aren't often in the same image are a nightmare.

>erotic friend-fiction

This seriously looks like the beginning of some questionable R34
>dat bulge

My favorite is
>Click "skip" if item is not present
Like seriously, what the fuck.

This is what this guy does now? Were shitty cartoon rants not paying the bills?

America is that group project where there are three retards that slump all the work onto the overachieving dork, and yet the group inexplicably gets an A+ on the assignment.

I thought nobody else in this thread remembered this guy. Jesus.

He also had a tumblr once, but I have no idea why it got taken down. He posted most of his questionable shit there.

>charging people to see your art
If you do this you need to kill yourself or get a fucking job you degenerate slime

Looks like something the drawfags here would shit out

That's one way to look at it I guess, but what I mostly mean is that the passion and enthusiasm for this kind of thing is slowly dying.
Thank you, user. Saved all of these.

>post your shitty OC
>professional artists draw him for you free of charge
So basically this guy won here, right?

>ben the looney
He's not relevant anymore unless you're either Clay Claymore or soulbrothanumbuh3 beating a dead horse. Move on

There pretty much is nowhere in the world that teaches you how to draw and paint properly. It's becoming a lost art in higher education.

>museums are degenerate
???

as a shitty drawfag, I find that offensive

As a Fluttershy fag, I find that drawing offensive

that's ok but youre waifu a shit

I only now realize who that was meant to be.

>>he plays along with people wanting to role play with his porn in the comments section

I don't think lewds should be a deal breaker. I'd buy a non-lewd comic series by Shadman or manga by sindoll if the writing was decent.
