Has a comic cover ever made you think "That's a bit misogynistic"?

...

Killing Joke.

No, but one has made me want to masturbate. Which this does.

I am masturbating to this right now is what I'm saying.

A couple of people's porno books made me raise an eyebrow but no. Objectifying? Maybe. But misogynistic implies a level of malice that simple isn't there

this is the only one to make you want to masturbate?
if not, how many, would you say, have made you want to masturbate? order of magnitude estimate is fine

Yeah this. There's truly some depraved artists out there but most of them are too obsessed with women to hate them.

Cerebus

Honestly? This is about a six on a scale of one to Frank Cho.

is this ok?

More like I think, "Yep that's that artist's fetish"

If a comic cover is all it takes for you to think misogyny then you truly live a sheltered life.

Learning to draw leads to thinking about TNA pretty much all the time.
A friend told me.

isn't this literally a porn comic?

can't think of any recent examples off the top of my head but damn if silver age Lois Lane wasn't just getting shit all over 24/7 on the covers

Believing that something might be misogynistic? In this wonderland of free speech? It's practically criminal to even think that, let alone speak it.

Also yes.

Misogyny is a pretty string word -it's the dislike, hatred or mistrust of women based only on the fact that they are women.

Heavy sexualization is normally not misogynistic - it's just sexist.

Superman is 100% right here though, Lois is a mongoloid for not seeing it.

Thinking about? Nah. Being paid by desperate non-artists to draw? Yeah.

Man come to think of it heterosexual men are sad. Get a hobby.

Maybe those Marville covers with the photorealistic naked girl holding pizza and PS2 games? And I didn't even think they were misogynistic, I just thought they were really sleazy.

I read trash and the thought never crosses my mind

Nah, but I've read plenty of Mitton in my days. All of his series are about the woman main characters and the side characters getting raped and tortured until they perish in the last volume.

$6.95

That sounds like a lot.

>Hey Bill I drew her falling in a trash can
>I can't wait for bitches to pee their panties at my laziness

>- it's just sexist.

It's not even that. Any ISM is just a premature thought based around a thought. Large amounts of TnA and sex appeal are completely unrelated to whatever ideas you may have of the subject

>Sup Forumsmblr was a meme, they said

Have ever witnessed bait, senpai?

>Killing Joke.
I thought its cover was just Joker with a camera or something?
I mean, I know it's been released a bunch of times, but I mostly recall covers just having the Joker

if it was truly Sup Forumsmblr, it wouldn't be phrased like a matter of curiosity, it'd be stated as an absolute certainty in a tone full of indignation

whatever happened to this? Scanlations and tankobon scans seemed to just stop after a while

Welp, time to start reading Femforce.

No because I'm an adult.

>superdickery5
where's the other 4. I love seeing Sups be an asshole.

He might be referring to the cancelled Batgirl cover that references Killing Joke and triggered dozens of twitards and tumblrones who don't read comics.

You can be obsessed with women's bodies and still despise them/be a misogynist.

It's important to keep the terms straight.
I mean, there is objectification, a common claim, but hard to really substantiate without looking at the roles characters play. To treat any group as objects in a comic, you need to make them passive and powerless. Just oggling them as a reader does nothing of the sort, if you want the term to have any meaning past recognising that comic characters are indeed not real and objects to be manipulated for the illusion of a person.
Sexism is equally hard to substantiate since it reflects what you think, not necessarily what you do as an artist. Because it has to be discrimination for the reason of sex specifically. If you do something because you find it hot, that would probably be fetishism.
And misogyny... a hard accusation to ever truly be demonstrably right about. You have to find malice in a piece of art. So, unless you get women specifically tortured...

No, I'm not a purple-haired faggot.

He's right tho

I want to pet that unicorn.

you can also be a smut peddling horn dog and have nothing BUT respect for them

About 99% of Sup Forums and the folk scanlating it gave up when they found out the Yakuza girl began prostituting herself out to a gross old Yakuza boss to keep her hitman business afloat and the ax girl gets raped evil for a while, most of the fan wanted them to stay "pure".

>fans wanted them to stay "pure"

thats pretty standard for Japan and Anime/Manga fans desu

Yeah, the first volume had a little girl turned into a nymphomaniac by being repeatedly fucked, then turned over to a serial killer who chops her up, tears her own hand off pulling herself out of barb-wired restraints, has her innards spill out, then gets the wounds sewn up with barbed wire, but people seemed to think the heroine getting raped and their boss fucking an old man to keep him off their backs was going too far.

no

anything that somebody would call misogynistic I would probably call "arousing"

I know this is bait but there was one that made me wonder if the artist had a major problem with women.
Sadly I cannot remember what it was.

And yet Berserk kept getting scanlated even after Griffith was revealed as a twink prostitute. There's no justice.

to be fair, it was a bit far even for DC

Western comic - no. But some manga artists have issues with women.

Superdickery was a website with the finest silver age crap.

Huh. By the cover I assumed this comic would likely be made by Ennis and Frank Cho.

But thats the same thing to these people, the sexualization of females *is* woman-hating. For reasons unfathomable to this reader but there it is.

For shits and giggles, find a blog post that does the mental gymnastics to explain why romance novel covers are *not* objectification and man-hating.

Hm.
That actually is a bit disturbing.

Yeah, it is called "Manga"

Pretty sure thats an edit.

>when a thread basically just says "please hide me" in its topic

But are we going to assume that about every artist who draws cheesecake?

Yes, male sexuality is inherently evil.

I don't recall any blatanty misogynistic mainstream comic I've read in the last two decades. Cerebus, maybe, but I don't think it qualifies as mainstream.

Comics with female characters who were nothing more than a wank fantasy of a thirsty nerd? A whole lot of them. Comics going the fedora route of all women are otherwise useless whores? Not really. Even Sin City had multiple women with agency, even whores with agency.

You know the majority of people who read Femforce where female right?

There is something extremely sad about this cover and it made me want to hug people and comfort them

It's an edit, in fact. The real one is a great cover and in fact it has become iconic. And yes, this Joker can be pretty scary, the cover remind us that Barbara has not completely overcome the issue, comprehensibly.

Too scary. Let's make it more wholesome and family friendly.

Now make her pregnant!

>Cerebus, maybe, but I don't think it qualifies as mainstream.
Tell me about it. It's way to tldr for me.

The issue that SJWs took about is that because it felt "rapey" because the gun is gesturing to her genitals. It's fucking retarded.

Nobody cares if a twink is still pure. They only care about the cute girls being pure.

Certainly not FemForce.

Those covers are hilarious!

Maybe it would be if he were slipping it up from behind to between her legs...

I still say Joker raped her too. It makes for a better story.

The best part about romance novel covers is they frequently take different parts of men and slap them together. As in they will take a ton of headshots of male models then hire different models for their bodies (broad shouldered, lean, etc...) and slap the two together to create Dream Hunk #465. It is literally the most objectifying thing ever because even male models aren't good enough to be on the cover of romance novels.
It was my cousin's first job when she graduated out of graphic design, she has a ton of stories about arguing with her boss because putting an Arab guy's head on a white guy's body would screw up the skin tones and be especially obvious where they were joined. Or the time she was out sick and they shipped a badly photoshoped white guy head on black guy body and claimed it was a "Printer error"

It's ok when women do it because the patriarchy oppresses women.

That's their argument.

Don't put your kids in liberal arts colleges

But that line of thought was aimed at porn artists. People who just draw cheesecake are fine but when you talk about people like shindol they clearly have issues.

>It is literally the most objectifying thing ever because even male models aren't good enough to be on the cover of romance novels.

Sily user, don't you know that whenever a man gets objectified, it's -really- a "male power fantasy"?

Misogyny is the protective camouflage of the subhuman vagina monster.

gotta say, I at least like that one better than the "it's a male power fantasy, the shirtless Fabio hunk staring lustfully out from the cover is really there to appeal to men" argument

This makes sense to women because women love to self-insert. Granted, some guys do it too, but those are the more kooky examples.

Tell me more.

The main char got ass fucked as a child. This happens as far as I remember once and he killed that guy later. His GF later got demon raped and turned retarded that way.

ShindoL actually seems like a pretty normal guy actually, outside of the porn
He's got a cute wife, lots of friends. He was going to vote for Bernie Sanders

She brings it on herself more often than not

>it felt "rapey"
Isn't that the fucking point?

Just read this issue, so how come she gets knocked out cold by a tire iron to the back of the head but has the durability to not be crushed by those heavy equipment they use to crush cars?

Of the cover? I guess? I don't really see the issue of the cover, it's a joker anniversary edition cover and Joker is supposed to be this menacing guy, I never saw the big controversy over the issue tbqh fampai.

Cerebus is not misogynistic. That's a baseless rumour started by the Comics Journal.

Can anyone confirm?

Basically yeah.

TCJ ran a hit piece where they responded to Dave Sims meta-fictional Cerebus book "Reads". They got a bunch of quotes from random comic creators and asked them if these out of context bits Dave wrote where misogyny.

They said yes and then they quoted his ex wife and ask him about all kinds of intimate details about his relationship with her where she basically said he's immature and is afraid of commitment.

For me the part that made me drop Trash was when the Gun girl got raped and beaten for two chapters and I mean legit raped and beaten, none of that hentai level shit full on ryona. It was at that point I realized it was to much edge for me.

ShindoL is a whole nother animal. I feel like some of his work is less porn and more "art" that happens to have a LOT of hardcore fucking. The cow story and Emergence come to mind. That being said he needs to do more vanilla, especially with cute disabled girls.

>shindol
Would you say the same about a director specialised in horror movies? In thriller?
Tarantino likes to shot violent scenes but I doubt he likes violence in real life.

There are things you can only enjoy when you know they're made up. That goes for porn too.

Shut the fuck up and post more FemForce
