I have been reading comics for over a year and half now and I can't help but notice something. Why there are a lot of symbolisms and satanic themes in DC? Like seriously, whats up with that?

>inb4 muh company war
I mostly read only DC and I don't know if Marvel have them too (do they?).

>Why there are a lot of symbolisms and satanic themes in DC?
You gotta explain further my dood.

What?

Because satanic themes are metal and DC has a lush and vibrant magic side to its universe, unlike Marvel.

Batman #666 was set in the future where Damian Wayne sold his soul to the devil.

There’s entire mythology in DC that all about black bagic which they are full of satanic symbolisms.

Lois had a romance with Satan.

There’s a book AND show about Lucifer.

There are more examples and you can easily find them in Batman (the Metal event has some symbolisms as well).

I don't find it strange? Most mysticism in modern western culture will lean on Christianity so Satan or at least the concept is going to be used in some ways.

It's not natural when they used it so much and even normalize it. So, it's actually strange and they even getting more bold with them

I mean they use other forms for "ultimate evil" too like in Final Crisis, but it just makes sense. Easy to resonate with an audience.

You're going to hell user. Don't worry about it

Using Satanic symbolisms doesn't make sense especially when they keep romanticism them and make them look to the teenagers. You have characters like Zatanna and Constantine who use black magic and they considered to be loveable heroes.

Really? Because I have noticed that in the end Good always wins in DC. Hell, you can find a lot of analogies between Superman and Michael Archangel and the heavenly hosts fighting agaisnt the ultimate evil and winning.

If you are going to try, the Lucifer tv show is not that different from Supernatural but very much so from the book (which doesnt change the fact that deep down he is tyrant).

Or you are just an schizo looking for symbolism where there isnt.

And now you are trying to hard. You really havent read many of those comic book? Because Constantine also managed to trick the devil into drinking holy water.

You want evil shit? Read the comic about Cain.

Batman #666 was a play on the 666 thing by Morrison, but I think the selling your soul to the devil thing was supposed to be a bad thing - a sign of how dark that future was. Lucifer is spinoff of the Sandman series, that had a lot of wacky mythologies from all over the world, including Christianity (with Angels and God). I've never heard about the romance with Satan.

However, if you look, you can see just as much symbolism for Christ/Christianity - Omega Men is pretty explicit about it, Superman almost always has a cross-pose to reflect that Superman is the chosen Son of Krypton sent to save the Earth - there's just a lot of it everywhere.

They never had the evil win in any form of the media so don't be a smartass.

The problem is the way they keep normalizing them and inserting them into individual conscious. Just look at the kids today and the way they react to satanism like it's so natural compared to the previous generations.

I'm a pretty hardcore conservative Christian (Baptist), and I think that the real problem is the question of good and evil. Symbology is important - images do affect us on a level before thought kicks in to analyze - but I don't think just seeing Zatanna or John Constantine do some fake spells is going to cause kids to think they want to be a sorcerer and contact demons or the dead. If kids are doing that, there's deeper problems than them reading comics.

>normalizing

You really havent read those books, don't you?

Because I can tell you dont know of what you are talking about.

After I read and watched documentaries about how Symbols affect the subconscious, I can't say that they are harmless and have no effects my dude.

Like I said before, kids these days are the examples of their effects.

I didn't say they were harmless. I said that the real problem is how the parents are raising their kids - to recognize these things and think about them.

I think it's much more destructive for kids to be exposed to porn than to images of magic. (lol, watch this completely derail the thread)

Comic books need less Satan and more good wholesome old-time religion

Lol. Needs more Chick Tracks stuff, though.

>tfw one guy in your trpg group constantly makes deals with demons or doing crazy shit like lopping off his own arms to graft demonic shit onto it
>usually little to no consequences for making deals with demons
>tfw your GM and he does the same stuff
> you allow it while vaguely alluding to a high cost
>end of game demons take everything he cared about (butler and entire continent of british isles dissapears) and force him to be a silver surfer, flying around other planets to trick people into making deals with the devil

That's AWESOME. :)

Lois had a relationship with Satan?

Zatanna's magic isn't black
Constantine isn't for kids

Look up Hypercrisis. There is a popular theory the DC Multiverse is real and we are simply an Earth in it that influences the rest of the earths.

Marvel has its own mythology with their versions of the Greek and Norse gods. They aren't too preoccupied with Christianity.

If anything, they're more interested in Islam these days.

The only thing that makes sense is a bunch of nwo pagans use symbolic brainwashing techniques to raise a army of millennial teens with illuminati agendas with the ultimate goal of raising satan

it got included when Vertigo was rolled into the main universe. So all the satanic stuff that was in some stuff to make it more edgy became canon.

This.

Silver Age imaginary story insanity

>more bold
In which recent comics?

I don't know what you're talking about

OP do you not bow to our lord Satan? Of course western cartoons and comics are all trying to popularize the belief in our dear red-skinned long-horned sweetheart. Haven't you heard user, Sup Forums is the work of the devil and everyone who's on it is stan worshippers.
