Flash Gordon sells out

>Flash Gordon sells out
>we get a great movie
>Dick Tracy sells out
>we get a great movie
>Garfield sells out
>we get a great TV show
>Calvin and Hobbes doesn't sell out
>we get nothing and it fades into irrelevance and obscurity

How'd that work out for ya, Bill?

Not all great comics need to sell out.

>Calvin and Hobbes doesn't sell out
>It's still considered the shining jewel of news paper comic strips
I think he's fairly happy with the results.

well, all these years later people are still talking about it, so...

>>it fades into irrelevance and obscurity
In what fucking world?

>Garfield sells out
>we get a great TV show
In the fucking 80-90s. Every single Garfield adaptation past it is okay at best.

Because Garfield was such an amazing comic to begin with, right?

Those movies and TV shows suck that's why

Does your meth addict single mother let you eat lead paint?

Amazing no but, Garfield was a pretty funny strip throughout the late 70's and 80's. I still have like the first 8 compilation books and reading them still gets hearty chuckles and amused smiles out of me.

The Garfield comic strip should have ended ages ago but, man, I will defend the fuck out of early era Garfield.

The things you list have a certain camp charm but by no reasonable measure can they be considered great. Time to take off those nostalgia goggles user

Nobody cares about Flash Gordon, Dick Tracy or Garlfield, with movies or without them.

Your bait is weak

Where is my pipe?

Flash Gordon sold out back when your grandparents were children OP and Hitler and Stalin were in power.

His underwear ain't even silver. Have I been lied to?

>DC sells out
>

>Garlfield

Calvin and Hobbes is timeless (mostly).

Garfield should have died by the time the first cartoon series and its specials ended.

...

The difference is that unlike the others, we get a great comic.
