And as said on OP, we are also running our third (now 2)weekly challenge!

>THEME: post apocalyptic - cartoon - animals
>GENRE (options): FREE PICK limited offer
>DEADLINE: August 13

Remember that you can play with the theme as you see fit, we want to see how creative you can get!

>FREE PICK limited offer

Just either say free pick or just shit out some genres

the "limited offer" bit was intended as a joke because of how we rushed it this occasion, please don't bully.

I fix the grammar.

well last time we only had two themes plus a genre, this time we have three themes. add a genre and it's gonna be hard to include those four things in three pages.

whups

Guess I went full retard then

>first panel
capitalize The where it starts a new sentence
>second panel
period after around, new sentence, quotes around yes
>fifth panel
capitalize Lous. using 'mind' twice is a little bad, you should say "what was going on in that strange place" or change it to "scan his brain"

>tfw too horny to write or draw

I feel bad for the people that feel like they have the right to mock coldfusion's work when their own comics are way worse
>inb4 shut up colfusion

You're allowed to object, we're allowed to refute. Doesn't have to be a big fight.

write some porn. jerk off to it. write your regular stuff

>tfw when I'm too horny I just think of any sex scene my characters would have in the story and use the moment to think of the dialogue and actions.
>tfw best faps I have.

It is weirdly fun after writing your characters being normal for so long, to suddenly write them lewding out in your head

Gloryhol user reporting for duty and spamming my comic.

tapas.io/episode/779675
tapas.io/episode/779675
tapas.io/episode/779675

I know what you mean, it's weird yet fun and even cute depending on the kind of lewd. Sadly -or fortunately- I'm too aware of my own skill level so I don't think I will ever disgrace anybody's eyes drawing any ugly porn. Hell if I ever reach the part of my main characters starting a relationship it may remain a situation like pic related.

Still messing around with stuff on this comic. Now it has some greys.

>Combining The Number of the Beast and The Trooper
I like it

>Oh shit I have been lied

Is easier to crack, that's why people get it for free.

I didn't even have to crack SAI when I got it

It was on a deviantart page where someone reuploaded their folder for the program

Thanks user.

To autistic shark guy,
I will see what I can do about making him more anatomy accurate.
I'm still struggling to write one funny thing a day, which I think may be more important.

Looking really cool so far!

If I remember correctly, there was one of those one-time deal things that people exploited, like getting one of those 1$ chinese mouse pads that required you to things in a real particular way to legally obtain it for free.

Really it's just the gills moving forward, you could consider them 'cheeks' when you plan out his face. everything else is fine and actually better than fine given how cartoons usually draw sharks.

Fake grays!
These are not true grays.
Screentones or bust!

At least I remember it was just cracking some folders and that is. That's why some people had problems with SAI working like shit or something. The one deal with the price I have seen most is with CSP, costing 25$.

what do you prioritize most in your style?
I've seen most people here work on making thir anatomy construction show, but what would you say it's your strong point?
>anatomy
>composition
>color
>rendering
>gesture
>design

My anatomy is not the best but I make my best try to make it as accurate as possible, or at least for it to not look uncanny. I think I'm good enough at design.

I have been trying to make better gestures so my characters don't look like ":U" dolls nor anything like that, and seems people like the funny faces I do so I guess I'm good on it? Composition if only I wasn't so lazy to do background.

Not sure what rendering means here. Color I may be good at color theory but I'm shit at coloring itself.

Would it be a bad move to write 99% of the story as the main character(s) retelling their story?

It's been done in a lot of other forms of media. Plus you can switch from dialogue/character-driven to narrator-driven without it being jarring.

It just concerned me that it'd come out as an easy cop-out or too cliche. Plus it kinda gives the main characters plot armor from anything bad that might happen to them.

Liek so?

Nice. Now it looks like someone scanned some pro work.

You can always have characters in the story who only show up in the story that the main characters are telling, there's still room to build tension and create drama even though it's only a story being told.

It looks great. Is that a simulated effect or did you use a brush for it?

Does anyone want to write something for me to draw? Shittily, if I may add.

It's a screentone brush. I got a few, but I think this one looks the best.

Re-posting my pages here, will give an official chapter release eventually

imgur.com/a/v7qrG

Honestly I like thlee grey version better, the screetones make the whole think look rather foggy. There's no real reason to use screentones unless you're planning to print it cheaply, or want to do all-out manga emulation.

My strength is also my weakness, and it's inconsistentcy. Since I have no defined style and neither a fear to change I let myself experiment.

agree, but it does make it look more authentic

Authentic only if you're going for a very certain aesthetic. is there any reason to pursue that aesthetic?

Which version looks better?

well that other user liked it, so... probably?
I know i sometimes like things that look authentically like they were done in real ink pen. Never been a big fan of screentones though

Left. The large arc in the line of action just seems better for the reaction from the character.

Although the little impact lines on the right add a nice effect, so por que no los dos?

1st one is a really big fucking hit, second is more of a subtle bit of emphasis.. however the second one has impact lines that the first doesn't. Depends just how much of a smak you want this to be

I started drawing up some pages for a web comic I've wanted to do but I need my asshole torn with some constructive criticism. So far I've only colored this and another page.

QUICK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't post anything. Just work on your craft and improve.

sometimes you need a second pair of eyes to improve. Others can see tiny stuff that you might have missed.

great followthrough, there are just a few things about your initial aim that are slightly off.. kinda low heads (only slightly) and the eyes arent always super even. Overall though I love this. I love their hairstyles so much. It reminds me of the wolvering anime. Like that's how they might draw a grown-up X-23
needs bigger letters though

I can't understand who's talking in the second to last panel but I think you would benefit your coloring with a harder brush because that airbrush makes everything look messy and dirty, is that a spirit coming out of him?

I'm confused by the last 3 panels, but I'm curious to see more. Also guys with sideburns are my weakness.

I see what you mean, I'll fix up the bodies. I'll also going to play around with some font packs I downloaded as well.

Gotcha, I'll lay off on using the airbrush too much and save it for minor highlights/shadows. That is a spirit in the last three panels trying to warn the protag of the police while protag is trying to score. Its sort of a stand-like being but its more autonomous and can act alone in some situations. There's several in the story and each works with a person that they like but in some situations they turn on their master. I'm still trying to nerf their abilities since too many people with them would turn into a boring power-level fest.

those last three are a little confusing since they lead into the next page where the police question protag about some crimes. I tried to work them entering the bar in the background but like mentioned my airbrush work made it look messy.

I am surprised that my comic is growing this year. My art has a weird style to it because I use it to fiddle around with gimp and Photoshop. I am much happier with it.

Oh fuck yes those are cool.

Damn those designs look real neat

I want to make a comic that will unite /agdg/, /indie/ and /hyw/.

...

I almost called this one number of the bitch haha

By indie you mean like mu?

I decided to do some redraws
nothing too drastic but better than the original
(the first page isn't changed other than adding a page number)

...

...

I can't decide on the colors.

...

...

Coldfusion hits a special pain spot where his comic art """style""" strongly resembles a lot of the late-2000s deviantart cringy rambling fantasy adventure webcomics, so he gets more shit than most.

...

...

...

...

and there

I know it was just a simple mistake, one I would probably make a year or two ago, but it's funny how the background seems to be rising up behind him, and then in the next page we're actually looking at it overhead next to him. Like the ground just lifted up into the sky without him

Dude has been drawing for 14 years and his art still looks like that of a 14 year old's what's not to mock?
I take more offense with his insistence on giving shitty "criticism" and "advice" to other artists, i.e. rambling at them like an autist and telling them to change everything until they fit his tastes.

Huh, that's the first time I've heard that in the negative... but unlike a lotta things, I'm gonna own right the fuck up to that. It's literally exactly what I'm aiming for.
As time goes on, I'm sadly drifting away from that, and I miss the hell out of it.

i don't have a name for my comic and i'm thinking of naming it something dumb and catchy so i can snag a domain thats easy to remember even if it has nothing to do with the comic itself

bad idea? i might do several comics on the site if that justifies it at all

Cyanide & Happiness had the explosm.net domain and the comics are pretty much random stuff.

As long as it's catchy and you like it I guess it is fine. A weird first choice, but not unviable.

I've been here for a while aand haven't seen him once rant about anyone's work rather a bunch autists telling him to change everything until it fits their tastes, you get me?

Coldfusion, even if you are a loser. You are a pretty cool dude.

It's almost as if this general is full of projecting shitposters who realize that the one thing you can't ever say in your defense is "no u" no matter how true it is

Started season 2 of my comic's arc today. Feels good to b productive again.

...

Chuckled a bit. What's with putting the dialogue in quotes?
Looks like you're going for kind of an old newspaper comic look, but with a lot more dynamism of shots.

Thanks for the (You), user.
I try to imply there is a lot more going on than there seems to be at first glance. The quotation marks are there for a reason, not all of the dialogue is verbal and some characters don't speak conventionally.

Well, when a person is reading a book or it might even be narration, it makes a little more sense, but.. I'm having trouble imagining what the reasons for quotes to be actually in a bubble would be. If it'll be revealed later, I'll be patient.
For now though, I feel like some of this could use tightening up. There's a lot of subtle little crummy bits that would work a lot better if they had better geometry. That's part of what makes even 'toon' drawings good.

coldfusion isn't a loser, he's just autistic

Autistic is when you have trouble understanding feelings. What would you call pic related?

>vacation period always feels like I have less time for my projects than when I'm at school
>just finished my college career so school is over forever
>school will be replaced by a job anytime soon and will still not have as much time as I would like for my own doings

/blog/ but I really would like to be like those hacks that place almost no effort on their comics yet don't have to worry about salaryman stuff.

Why would your vacation mean you had less time?
Anyway, work part-time or work remotely. It's the only acceptable life choice.
now let's get down to what the fuck that picture is from and means. she's a pokemon-a and likes to suck the beak?

>Why would your vacation mean you had less time?

Because I still live with my parents and vacation time also means my dad gets vacations so we have to go around doing family quality time, also double house chores. Is mostly me not being able to schedule my free time and school being used mostly for my actual projects since had not much to do.

As for the pic I only chose it for the face but as for the meanings, yes, "pico" means "beak" yes but in southamerican countries it is slang for penis, which is why there the whole Boku no Pico franchise gets even more mockery than normal, all the guys' names are some spanish slang for the male sexual organs. It's almost as if it was done on purpose by the nips. I think the source is some sort of show of the "real people real problems" and shit like that.

>family shit
Oh fuck that noise. you're a man now, you have education and shit. they can eat your ass with their double chores.
oh man, that makes those old flash games/toons hilarious. the ones with the kid named Pico. Also, that one fakey kid computer drawing toy
considering the intentional espanol in bleach, I wouldn't put it past anyone.. but uh.. yeah I got from context that it was a talk show. The question at this point is... Pokemona? Even if that is how you make it feminine, which you don't do, is it saying she IS one, or has a problem with it?

Do animatics go here? I feel like it's kind of the same thing.

>Oh fuck that noise. you're a man now, you have education and shit. they can eat your ass with their double chores..

I'm a spic and here the rule is either get a job or help a lot with the house. Is a huge motivator to actually get employed but so far not many interviews calling back.

As for the pokemona bit, well, talk shows don't really do research. The text there does imply that it's saying she IS one though, but that's as far as I know, the whole thing reads like a weird edit but that's how I found it. And knowing the quality of the talk shows around here it can be legit, and still gives a laugh.

I think there has been some acepted discussion about some animatics.

well duh

I understand the confusion. I admit I dug myself into a little bit of a hole with how I initially wanted to execute some of the stranger concepts of the story, but I'm too far in to change it. It'll all make sense as the story goes on.
As for the art, I agree with you; it's is not as good as I want it to be. When I started I could hardly draw anything at all, but I didn't want to wait for ten years of practice to tell a story that had already been in my head for a long time. Again, I appreciate the reply, criticism is lifeblood.

I know, but little bump can help keep it alive.
