mfw dumbasses are going to claim Rick and Morty is declining in quality because of "muh sjw wymyn writers!!!" when in reality Rick and Morty has been going downhill since halfway through season 2.

BOOM BIG REVEAL

Episode 2 was fine, anyway. We just have too much short male virgin spillover from boards like /r9k/, angry about Summer having casual sex with attractive men and actually being competent, and blaming it on the female writers who wouldn't even give them a second glance, which makes them even angrier.

Mediocre men are so pathetic.

I couldnt fucking stand jerry and the subplots about his and beths marriage, so im kinda glad theyre just focusing on rick and morty now.

I just don't like when shows start off as a simple premise then incorporate large overarching plots that start to get more attention than the original premise. I just want some goofy scientist to go on adventures with his grand kids, not some galactic terrorist be an edgy faggot. I hope this new episode means they are going back to that.

>yfw realizing that the people complaining about female writers are just IRL versions of Jerry.

"[insert series here] went downhill after season 2" is a meme as old as television. As usual, ignore and move on.

>the you realize R&M was always pretty shitty and forgettable with 3 or 4 stand out episodes and you're just waiting for the show to die

YAAAAAAAAS

Cant wait for the episode where rick and summer get buff and beat up trump, pepe the meme frog, republicans, conservatives, [insert things liberals hate], morals, ect. while x gonna give it to ya plays

If anything else, the Jerry plot line is a shoe in to save the season. I want to see just how far they go in breaking this man's spirit.

This. I'm glad I'm not pathetic enough for my wife to cheat on me then leave me.

Rick and Morty was never good, though.

BURP GOD IS DEAD BURP

Rick and Morty was good for 8 episodes, episode 6 being its peak. It was all downhill from there.

>Majority of the hate from the last episode was how the show is too "meanspirited" to Jerry
Don't get me wrong it's not a particularly good episode, but when did everyone in Sup Forums become total pansies? It feels like a lot of people here have as much backbone as your typical tumblr user. I'm not saying criticisms on the show aren't warranted, because a lot of it is, but half of the response people give seem to be that the show hurt there feelings and/or repost the same two memes as if acting retarded yourself somehow is proof that the show is retarded.

Just a bunch of dumb women, ignore them.

Rick and Morty is popular and all Sup Forumsntrarians are grasping at straws to find reasons to hate it.

Rest assured if Sup Forums still exists by the time the show is cancelled you'll see threads a few months after the final episode airs and everyone except Sup Forums has moved on that read "Now that the dust has settled can we all agree this show is actually pretty GOAT?"

Go to bed Dan

guys there's only been like, three seasons.

>virgin, mediocre, pathetic

Anyone who doesn't like what like is insert buzzwords. What are you 12 user?

...

No, from what I can tell the women fans want to ride Rick's cock and eerily miss the whole point about how he's manipulating Summer and Beth to do his bidding and spout their own memes different from here. Which in itself is retarded for its own reasons. But a single positive I can give is at least they can still articulate there thoughts well most of the time. Can't say the same thing for a lot of Rick and Morty threads here.

>people still claiming Rick and Morty has been going downhill when the first season was just as plagued with issues and lulls as S2 was
Maybe you just got tired of he humor style. It's very grating, after all.

MAYBE there were a few more miss-plots in B than A, but it was hardly dramatic.

>i was hating rick and morty before it was cool: the post

I think it's more on the fact they revealed there best cards to soon. You have to remember that Rick and Morty came out it mostly looked like another Futurama 2.0. When shit like Morty almost getting raped, them abandoning their whole family and evil Morty were revealed, it came with genuine shock because nobody expected the show to take such dark left turns route.

But by season 2, all of this stuff was expected. We expected for things to get grim and Rick to not be exactly a hero, so now when it happens it no longer has that same impact. It's expected at this point and because of that it's lot some of the charm. Rick and Morty isn't likely to ever going to be as good as season 1 because nobody expected what season 1 was going to go until it actually had hit them.

Same as Venture Brothers and Adventure Time, both of which fell apart by their third season and were never good again.

considering how many people liked the season 3 premiere, I'd argue you're full of shit.

people hated sunday's episode because it had shitty girlpower moment for summer which is unalike anything written before it and it shows.

I just can't remember if the humor always had as much overexplanatory to the point of being half-meta stuff (which is different from the overtly meta humor; this is more like tangential Phineas and Ferb humor). That was really my main weak point, but it's been too long since watching the older episodes; maybe it was always like that

>I just don't like when shows start off as a simple premise
We learn Rick is a galactic terrorist in the first episode. We learn he's an "edgy faggot" in the first minute when he tells Morty he's built a bomb to destroy civilization.

The real issue with the Sup Forums fandom is that you didn't pay attention to the show and instead filled in the gaps with things you'd prefer, so now you're mad the show hasn't conformed to the fantasy version you created from whole cloth.

>Venture Brothers
I will fucking fight you.

Venture bros. peaked in season 4 and has been largely good beyond its peak.

>your typical tumblr user
Your typical tumblr user browses Sup Forums.

It was but not to the extent season 3 and some of 2 seems to be. They'd make a meta discussion that'll last a couple seconds but then that'd be it and they'd move on. Season 3 they'd bring up said discussion and drag it out. Like the best example of overexplanatory joke in Rick and Mort S1 was when they were running away from Scary Terry and Rick and Morty talk about how instead of running they should just go hide. It was meta and talked about a bit but it didn't drag. In comparison S3 likes to hit you over the head that 'Hey have you noticed Summer is acting differently? this is not a very healthy way to deal with your emotional problems" or the mustache bit which started funny but then got tiresome after a while.

Are you?

Yes and at the same time they're the ones making "oooh poor jerry :(" posts.

Are they? I could've sworn they hated him because they're daddy Rick hates him. Maybe the tones changed since this episode I don't know.

You're not proving him wrong though. user is referring to the fact that both episodes of season three have been an on-going story that has took centre stage instead of being just tid-bits in the episodes.

The show was mostly about wacky adventures and while the occasional story heavy episode is a nice change of pace it doesn't allow jokes to flow as well and ruins the overall mood of the show.

>You're not proving him wrong though.
user argued that Rick and Morty started with a simple premise all about wacky adventures. This is demonstrably false. You're arguing that the overarching plot is worse from a humor standpoint. That's a different argument. Admittedly, I don't know if I'd disagree, but I didn't start out thinking the show was going to be that humorous to begin with.

This, completely unironically

I know this is an anonymous board and you can vent and rant about things you don't actually believe, but there's a part of me that thinks that impressionable kids will read this and actually internalize the misogyny

I think that was intended for And I simply don't agree. The cracks were clearly forming in season 2, though I felt Season 3 managed to get back to the Adventure Serial pastiche to some degree. Your appreciation of season 4 onward will depend heavily on how much you like the show with its core concept removed.

I didn't.

I get that they couldn't keep taking the piss out of Jonny Quest forever: by Escape to the House of Mummies Part 2 they had completely deconstructed and reconstructed it. They could have ended the series right there, and IMO they should have.

Being an intergalactic terrorist wasn't a huge deal though, it's the premise for the adventure in episode one because they're setting shit up about Rick and the show in general.

After that only two more episodes use this aspect of Rick in Season one as a main plot device while the rest are wacky adventures. Season two has even less.

So again that user isn't wrong, the show was always mainly about wacky adventures and with Season two's last episode being story heavy then followed by Season 3 having both being story heavy I get what that user is saying about the change in tone.

I really liked the first few episodes of season 2, and the finale was good, imo. That said, the worst episodes so far have definitely been somewhere in season 2, I agree.

I never liked those ad-libed episodes. Get Schifty was shit. The purge episode was a few years late. But there were a few good S2 episodes, mini-verse.

I think they laid out the divorce angst/coping mechanisms a bit much, but it was far from the worst.

I like that they're having Summer be more involved in the adventures. She's a decent medium between Morty's whiny shit and Rick's recklessness. The usual fear of female involvement in the creative process is censorship and the "in your face" kind of female empowerment, but that doesn't seem particularly present in the first two episodes of the season, and I don't think it'll ever change.

Rick is such a jaded fuck so consistently it's hard to care about what he's doing or why he's there. He's barely invested himself.

There are only so many times I can give a flying fuck about someone who would burn a hobo alive because he forgot his mittens, then bitch that mittens are an inter-galactic conspiracy to keep him from properly using his Portal Gun -- steeled by the fact he's right, that's exactly why they exist in so many dimensions.

It's long, sloppy self-fellatio. I stopped watching and feel happier for it.

Is it stupid that I like Jerry the most out of all the characters?

It's fine. The shitty underdog who never succeeds in climbing out of his rut has an appeal of sorts.

>angry about Summer having casual sex with attractive men

>Hemorrhage
>Attractive

Ha.
Besides, it wasn't even casual sex. She married him in less than three weeks. Bitch was super comitted to that guy way too quickly.

Nah, Jerry's okay. We're just inculcated to dislike him because he wasn't GOOOOOOD ENOUGH for Rick's precious beautiful thoughtful double-plus-intelligent daughter

You know, the daughter that ends up with an empty family life and house full of exotic birds and wine bottles in those universes she didn't marry Jerry

Wow, Rick, you're right, Jerry just ... ruined a fucking masterpiece, didn't he?

Only the dictionary and the hookers jokes were remotely funny for me. I laugh more at Sonic Boom than R&M, despite that everyone irl swears is the funniest show ever .

Fucking this. Futurama started off as a goofy but well written show about a guy adjusting to life in the year 3000, and over the course of the original FOX run, it slowly revealed its cards and how poignant it can get with Luck of the Fryrish and Jurassic Bark, and it revealed the true genius of the show with shit like Why of Fry and Roswell That Ends Well. Rick and Morty blew its load waaaaaay too early with its first season and so it's not as exciting because it can't surprise you anymore.

This was a repeat of the Purge episode; too reliant on a movie parody

>Roswell That Ends Well
"... How far is it?" still fucking gets me

No, he's the only likeable character in the show aside from Morty.

Rick is upset that Jerry got Beth pregnant in her teen years, but it's technically his own fault for abandoning his own daughter to go off on space adventures.

>Only prominent character that stands up to Rick's bullshit
>Remains the butt of all jokes
What did they mean by this?

If only they were just focusing on Rick and Morty, but now we have to have Summer tag along for all their adventures to add pussy points to the show and muh diversity.

She's the third wheel and fucking annoying and I pray to god she's not gonna be in every fucking episode.

I agree, but I couldn't give a shit about the characters because everyone except Jerry was an asshole. The season shouldn't have started off with Rick sabotaging his daughter's marriage and happiness just to get back at Jerry.

true

THIS! We Redditors are the real men around here. Drinking Starbucks, masturbating to cuck porn, and donating to HARASSED WOMEN's patreons! Only TRUE fans of Rick and Morty will support them no matter what.

She is a literal self-insert allegory for female audience that took place of either male MC would have had her entire storyline not been there so I'm not sure you can say that and not be lying.

It means "I'm like ten kinds of ironic about how cool my main character is, come fight me, I'm Justin R, R is for Rusty Dick Up Your Ass."

>The season shouldn't have started off with Rick sabotaging his daughter's marriage and happiness just to get back at Jerry.
But that's funny. Cringe is funny. Destruction is funny. Jaded, narcissistic anger is funny.

Rick and Morty never went downhill, it's still as good as ever

I'm having fun and you can't stop me, eat it nerds

You go girl.

She's going to end up having gotten pregnant, huh? Mirroring her own mother. The writing is on the wall.

great argument fagtron

Rick and morty isn't going downhill and never will.
You can't go downhill if you were never up

>all posts need to be arguments
Well the guy he was responding to already lost because he didn't say any arguments either.

Nice ad hominem.

Wh—what? I mean, Starbucks is awful, but how is it a Reddit thing? And what does any of that have to do with /r9k/ being losers?
This post is confusing on so many levels.

>already doing damage control

I think it was ok 6/10. It's my fault to get too hyped about it. Also the trailer gave away the best parts.

>"manipulating summer"
>Rick can't control Summer the entire episode and has to wait for her post-apocalyptic marriage to fall apart before he gets to go home

>"never good again"
honestly did you keep watching to make sure or are you just saying that

are you really /edgy/ if you actually do destroy civilization?

Hopefully the rest of the season isn't like this.

>no u

that's a pretty good counterpoint user

Don't rile up user, you are just going to get a giant ramble about how everything is secretly about how straight white men are being oppressed. I mean shit there was a thread earlier about Kenya banning cartoons with gays and some were able to make it about how straight white guys in the west are oh so oppressed.

It's okay to have meanspirited humor in a show user. The issue only arises when you constantly shove it in without any humor and they unironically play it off as if Jerry is in the wrong somehow which is just shitty writing because it detracts from the characters who are being mean spirited. It makes them out to be assholes which is okay if they get punished for being assholes but otherwise it just makes it impossible to sympathize with them. That's why villains in most shows are likable despite being absolute pricks. theyre always put in their place and we're never expected to sympathize with them to begin with. thats not the case here

t. reddit

don't you have a tumblr blog to go update

Don't you have an infographic to make?

What would I make an infographic on user. I'm well adjusted. Unlike the typical person you would spouting gibberish about the cis white male menace on a chinese imageboard

>roiland realizes this.
>hires a full team of female writers to take the fall for him.
This man it's brilliant, but somehow this is a tactic a woman would use, he just took it to the high leagues.

You would make an infographic on how women won't date you because of feminism.

I was also just taking the piss out of the user who was all 'oh if you like rick and morty then you like cuck porn, starbucks, and shitty patreons' so calm the fuck down and enjoy some late nite half assed banter.

Everyone is Mr. Enter now and don't like mean remarks towards other characters on the show >:(

It's literally a win/win.

>If even minorly competant, having women writers on staff guarentees a glut of new SJW audience members that will shill how great your show is on every form of social media.

>If the writing suffers, you can blame the new writers for not "understanding the spirit of the show" and quietly let them go. And you only have to do this if the writing is so bad that people notice it over the loud droning of SJWs jacking off how great it is to finally have female comedians be recognized.

That guy is such a fucking faggot...

the show's been shit ever since "muh deep meme characters are 2 real 4 u" took front stage. if you had told me at the end of season 1 that rick was a badly-written character, i would have told you to shut the fuck up because the point of the show was to have mindless sci-fi fun, not have deep and dramatic characters and arcs. sadly i dont have that luxury anymore and the show is forced to stand on its weakest leg

in reality Rick and Morty has been going downhill since it went to the tv from the internet

>the point of the show was to have mindless sci-fi fun, not have deep and dramatic characters and arcs
RIP Adventure Time

Why it's always so easy to spot women on the internet?

It's amazing how f*cking pathetic you losers are

How about you go back to Sup Forums or whatever MRA sh*thole you're from and suck off your soon to be impeached "god emperor" some more

I like Summer. She's a good character.
I also think I like Beth but she has done nothing yet to justify that. I wish she was more relevant.

>mfw you thought this show was bearable to begin with

>censoring yourself

Lowest quality bait. At least try next time, my dude.

> in reality Rick and Morty has been going downhill since halfway through season 2

The Get Shwifty episode was the beginning of the end.

If you're interested in watching them break a man's spirit, then maybe cartoons aren't the right type of show for you.
