Unpopular Opinions/Venting Thread

Talk about Sup Forums related opinions or views you just wanna get out there but don't know where.

Honestly, I'm good. No notable gripes tonight.

The new Squirrel Girl is pretty readable

I like Pepsi Fire.

Sup Forums overrates a bunch of shit just for being "obscure": OTGW, SBT, Motorcity, the list goes on.

Gwenpool is fucking trash stop jacking off to it.

I'm starting to find Star vs fans worse than SU fans. And creepier too.

this

The MCU company wars maymays on kikebook is starting to get to me. I want to tell them to fuck off but I don't want to reveal my power level

They are worse and creepier.

I never understood the Sup Forumsmblr meme, like we're just as a spiteful as any other board.

Anyone else think the "female writer" meme is kinda generic, ignores critical thinking, and otherwise liquidates any conversation of R&M to a dumb term. Sure it was a roastie writing, but this debate is really retarded.

Also fuck trapfags, they force that ironic meme everywhere

Star vs is mediocre. I don't understand this board's obsession with it.

I can't take any cartoon recommendations from Sup Forums seriously since I don't know if the show is actually good or if people just watch it to jerk off.

I don't understand rape fetishes, and I never will understand.
Nothing about unconsentual or coerced sex is attractive.

It's a combination of there only being three new cartoons a year and the huge number of lolicons on this site

It's a power fantasy above a sex thing

Aishi gets too much hate. I didn't like how SJ ended but I think the final season was good.

Marvel's current cartoons are decent at worst.

Rick& Morty has always been okay. I never understood why people were praising it as the second coming and why they say its going downhill.

There is nothing wrong with cartoons having an animesque art style.

Legend of Korra was good. The only problem were love triangles and the second season.

I don't get the appeal of Gwenpool.

Champions is actually decent.

Right Now Kapow was ridiculously underrated.

-I never got into Tintin as a kid and don't really like it.

-The rushed finale of Samurai Jack wasn't worth the hype.

-I haven't followed a webcomic in more than a year and I don't plan to.

-I think I buy monthly too many comic books to bury some kind of emotional void (aka tfwngf and lack of sex)

-I can rewatch Home Movies/Xavier Renegade Angel/ATHF ad nauseam and never get tired. Simpsons Golden Era goes without saying.

-Everytime I see a Harly Quinn book cover by Jimmy Palmiotti & Amanda Corner, i feel like kicking a baby.

I hate that when some people attempt to create an OC project on Sup Forums, there are assholes that come out of the woodwork, just to shit on it. Then afterwards, they create a "Failed Sup Forums projects" Thread, just to shit on the concept again.

That latest project with Black Superheroes comes to mind. Dear lord were there some samefagging trolls infesting that place, as well as blatant bait people gladly took, just to argue.

Why is it, that when people try to make things, others are willing to drag them down?

Protip: Plan something, do it and THEN post it in this wallachian beemongering board looking for input.

>just for being "obscure"
Or because, hear me out, it's actually good enough for people to like it. But of course there's some ulterior motivation to like/dislike things. Sure, smug pieces of garbage like you always know better.
Speaking of which, here's my venting: anyone who uses the word "contrarian" to immediately disparage any even slightly controversial opinion should be banned on sight. God forbid someone has something else to say other than hugboxing over liking/disliking one thing.

People shouldn't associate certain posts with other boards or websites. Also I think it's weird that people will associate with a board or website so much that they claim they're from them as if it was a physical place, and that they're proud of it like some sports fan or patriotic simpleton.

bump

We could have so much fun if we just applied a few creative wordfilters. A deluge of uninspired R&M shitposts turns into them unintentionally calling themselves 12. Who was in the wrong turns into "I was in the wrong".
We're getting the torrent either way, why not have fun with it?

How so

I don't want filthy comics on my cartoon board.

Agreed.

The best part of Sup Forums is the storytime threads, since people in the threads are actually discussing the comic rather than just shitposting.

The worst part of Sup Forums is the mod team does nothing to deal with spam or shitposters. Every time there is a flood of anything, the entire mod team appears to go on vacation. Hell, we had one mod/janitor who was deleting threads for webcomics he didn't like, and that went on for over two months.

>Last night a "how do we fix Sup Forums" thread was made so that it wouldn't bump within minutes
>Spam threads weren't deleted for another hour
>An actual blatant advertising thread stayed on the front page for 15 minutes, and a porn thread for 10 minutes
>Meanwhile Rick and Morty isn't forced into a general as any other currently airing cartoon would be because those rules are inconsistently enforced at best

I've seen popular artists get permbanned for "suggestive" images, while nudity with the nipples and crotch barely covered stays up all the way until it finally falls out of the archive.

Gotta love the 2003-era "HUUR FURRY" hate too. I recall someone getting banned for having an anthro character bending over, completely clean pic, fully clothed, wasn't even pointed at the viewer. Meanwhile every single Batgirl thread seems to start with the same image where she's mostly undressed and never gets deleted.

>Completely non-suggestive request for an anthropomorphic Sup Forums-related character gets made in a drawthread
>Gets deleted within minutes
>Anthropomorphic webcomic thread gets made
>Even very basic "I wanna fuck that character" posts get instantly deleted
>Meanwhile spam and blantantly suggestive stuff is clogging the front page and doesn't get deleted

The near sadomasochistic passion they seem to have have for 'suffering' and torment comes off weird. It kinda goes beyond the understandable ironic 'lol I want to see tears' to full blown creepy. To be honest nothing in that cartoon seemed particularly dark/tormenting to the characters compared to some other Sup Forums related things in my opinion, so it comes across as fans just projecting some weird fetish fantasy.

Also the obsessing over plot points and things that really aren't really that deep/the shipping wars but every fandom has that.

A massive amount of people here still believe that there is such thing """western animation""" (by that it means Storyboard + keyframes + inbetween + postprocessing DONE in the US/in-house), the exception also happen to be the highly cancerous stuff anons here bitch about it

what you excepted from a show that teaches girls to enjoy being a cuckquean.
Also the autism of the fandom can create some unironically cool shit from time to time

It sort of reminds me of how there was a slough of threads for a while where the OP would hate Steven from SU, and there would be posts inside of said threads which were apparently directed at Steven himself. Like "Ha ha little crybaby bitch boy I'm gonna beat you up! Gonna punch you in the face!" kind of stuff, as though people were attempting to act out power fantasies on a fictional character through posts on Sup Forums. It was weird as shit and the Star threads lately have a very similar feel to them.

>Also the autism of the fandom can create some unironically cool shit from time to time

Most fandom's autism can

I'm so sick of unironic company wars. Why would you brag that a bunch of people you don't know made something you like more than what a bunch of other people you don't know did?

I am pretty sure that everything Sup Forums related has reached the proverbial climate change tipping point when it comes to SJWs. It's too engrained, has too much money involved. It's not going to stop. This is now their culture. We're in the runaway greenhouse model at this point.

Our culture was propped up for decades on the principle of fanboy consumerism, and we have been out-consumered by a more marketable and attention-grabbing crowd that is easier to placate and cater to.

It isn't going to go away or recede, it's only going to get stronger, more complex, and more finely tuned to serve the diversity crowd. Even with certain aspects seeing diminished returns, the bigger picture is that what was once our "culture" (i.e. the products we bought and supported) will now morph to meet their demands. It will be unrecognizable and alien to us in 10 years, but because we'll stubbornly tag along we won't notice how changed the landscape has become.

If you think the SJW-infused nerd trend is going to end... you're in for a rude awakening.

This... isn't just about Sup Forums, user. You do know that, right?
You're correct otherwise, though.

>I never understood the Sup Forumsmblr meme, like we're just as a spiteful as any other board.
Jumping off of this, I can't help but think we would probably be so much better if we actually were "Sup Forumsmblr" than the cesspool this place often feels like, and I get how bad of an opinion that can seem, because I know how bad tumblr can be.
For everything people bitch about tumblr this place is regularly more disappointing to be on, and if we were truly "Sup Forumsmblr" at least we'd probably at least be talking about shit we like, rather than sending 4+ cartoons off to /trash/ while something like Star Vs has threads every fucking day presumably talking about the dumbest shit with no "persecution" just because they don't call themselves a general, or because it's not popular enough to hate, and all the fun shit that people just call "tumblr" wouldn't be thrown out just so people can act cool. Hell, all the dumb shit people do to be so against tumblr is exactly the dumb shit that happens on tumblr anyway, so it becomes a moot point.

Obviously I'm discussing the nebulous nerd industry at large. I'm not talking -about- Sup Forums. Sup Forums isn't traditionally consumer-driven in the least, and with products being the focal point of my post that distinction should have been made clear.

And jumping off of that, the totally inconsistent enforcement of "all currently airing shows must be in generals" causes nothing but animosity between fans of shows who are forced into generals and those where attempts to make generals get deleted. Inconsistent and arbitrary enforcement of rules is seriously hurting the fuck out of Sup Forums right now.

But not even the SJWs buy SJW related shit. Why do you think ghostbusters 2016 and most SJW marvel comics flopped? Why bother pandering to those that dont even give a shit?

I love BvS and MoS and only really care about cape movies when Snyder is involved.
I hate Pixar. I think Toy Story 1 is okay and despise everything else. The Incredibles in particular I find unwatchable.
Rick and Morty is just alright and has been that way since it started.
I write shippimg fanfics. I've written fics for shows I haven't seen, but I'll also get into a show if I like a girl/pairing.
Ed Edd and Eddy is an unwatchable show with grating voice acting, a vomit-inducing art-style, and an awful cast.

- I don't read comics anymore aside from what's storytimed here.

- I like Michael Bay's Transformers movies and the Amazing Spider-Man movie series.

- The Simpsons are still alright.

- Company wars and general negativity towards everything and everyone has really soured me on any kind of discussion here.

- I miss the comfy DC-TV threads. Shitposting was finally caught to them.

- I've neveer seen Rick & Morty but from the threads and fans it seems painfully obnoxious.

>and that went on for over two months
They stopped?

I hate comics. I'm here for the cartoons. marvel/DC films are boring to me

I love fun word filters and all, but they really need to be used sparingly to stay funny and also can have negative unforeseen consequences. For a while it became very difficult to have discussions on the concept of literal serious cuckholding relationships over on /adv/ because of word filtering.

...

I enjoy Steven Universe
I enjoy Rick and Morty
I enjoyed the Samurai Jack Finale

By Sup Forums's standards, I should either be on Reddit, Tumblr, or some other place to push my (((agenda)))

I meant it's far from only being related to comics and cartoons.

Futurama and Rick & Morty are just Family Guy and American Dad for people who need to feel smart.

The first in both cases being waaaay more original than the prior, yet at the same time being slightly worse because of it.

pff, nah. you just have shit standards

Futurama was never good
Family guy was never good
Only the first 3 episodes of Samurai Jack season 5 were good

>the first more than the prior
I don't know what this means.

Latter*, I'm on my 34th hour without sleep and posting from my phone, I apologize for the sloppy post.

Poppy O Possum threads aren't being deleted anymore. I imagine Endtown and Out Of Placers are safe again as well. But since most of the fanbases moved to /trash/ so they could actually discuss the webcomic, they aren't likely to come back.

Because those people are vocal and can give you a bad reputation.

holy shit it just dawned on me that I haven't seen a single endtown thread in months

i agree but loud house fans are still the worst of the bunch

that's literally spectator sports

It's almost like inconsistent and poor moderation drives people away from Sup Forums or something

And now you know why. We had "STOPLIKINGWHATIDONTLIKE" as a mod, and now there's a few less threads actually discussing board material. Thank god we have more room for more meme threads!

Ah, okay. I swear there are more webcomic/ board-appropriate discussion topics that have been blacklisted here that I never see anymore.

I really fucking liked the Boss Baby, it's no masterpiece that's for sure but I didn't expect it to be that good either, aside from that small bit of toilet humor, which was just, like... four jokes in the entire movie
I think people gave this movie too much shit only because of trump memes

I don't think it's trump memes. People are really cracking down on mediocre, just so-so movies because (there is an opinion that) there's been a noticeable decline in quality and steady rise in quantity of animated films, and animation fans seem to want to fight back. I think it's in hopes that boycotting the high budget yet not stellar mediocre movies will encourage studios to do better and make good movies again. Unfortunately it backfires because the constant complaining about movies only drums them up more publicity.

Anyway, my point is, I'm feeling like there's less tolerance or neutral feelings for movies that are "just okay." I think I saw more hate for Sing and currently The Emoji movie for this reason, as well as Boss Baby.

I don't like Scott Snyder's Joker and I feel his run on Batman is just a copy of Morrison's.

I hate the industry right now. It's full of talentless hacks that wish were working on a different medium(tv and movies mostly). I hate Tom King because he's a spineless insecure marveldrone, he made a real splash when he came on and looked like the saviour of comics but he's gotten only worse with time. I hate DC's trade department so much, I would shoot everyone there if I could. I hate every hack that gets called "the next big thing", I hate the retarded sjw pro censorship movement and how they have successfully destroyed entertainment.

test

I can understand people hating on movies like the Emoji Movie or Minions, movies made solely to extort a quick buck from dumb children
But people didn't hate movies like Storks or Home as much as they hated Boss Baby, and in my opinion that one's better than the other two, I genuinely laughed more than once and certain parts truly surprised me with their creativity, example under spoiler
the dream sequences for example, but more than that how they used that blocks game as a visual representation of love, or how you could see the "family" sign from his office's window, small details that to me were enough to feel like this wasn't just a quick way to get cash
sure the conflict in the middle was a bit out of nowhere, but other than that I don't have any other major complaints, one would think that with a movie so hated you could criticize a lot of other stuff, but I came out of that movie with only praise, which felt weird to me

I think in that case the problem is that you actually have to go see the movie to pick up on that stuff. There wasn't much about Boss Baby's marketing that made it come off as any better than Minions. In the case of Storks I think I recall people actually liking some of the jokes in the trailers and having faith in Storks because it was associated with the people who made Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

I just wish people actually took the time to watch something before criticising it, but I guess that's too much to ask
but yeah the marketing for Boss Baby was atrocious

If you can't get people to watch your movie it's not the audience's fault.

not watching something isn't the same as actively criticizing it, I wouldn't have a problem with it if it just became an obscure movie, my problem is with people who are willing to completely shoot down a movie that they have never even seen in the first place, that's all

But that requires paying for and therefore supporting the film (if you don't go to the trouble of waiting to pirate it or watching a shitty camrip). And if the studio already has your money for a film you don't want to support, what's the point? Word of mouth obviously doesn't work if each individual needs to see it and decide for themselves instead of reacting to the marketing.

read you can't criticize something you haven't seen

You know what? This was a good show. Yes, the later seasons fell into the same bullshit that Scooby had fallen into during the late 70's and most of the 80's, but it had a damn good start.

I rewatched all of it last month and can safely say that, no, it wasn't.

Alright, I'll compromise - Season 1 is damn good fun, but Mystery Inc is clearly the better post-movies series.

This board has been beyond insufferable and I can't bring myself to leave because there's really not much else to go to discuss comics and cartoons (I would love to discuss movies but Sup Forums is near-unbrowsable now). Especially in the last days when Sup Forums became the Rick and Morty board and I'm so completely sick and tired of wasting energy even thinking about that obnoxious garbage let alone debating people on it.
My life now basically boils down to work, watching tv shows or movies and trying to find something interesting on Sup Forums while I'm waiting to have enough money to do something interesting.
I'm bored out of my mind and there's not much I can do about it. I'm sure at least some of you feel the same way.

I think Superman is a great character, but I believe that a writer to do him justice, doesn't exist outside of Morrison.
Morrison only sees Superman through one lens though, where as he needs to be more like a God trying to be a Man, than a benevolent God, as portrayed in "All-Star Superman".

I want Superman to mean something again, instead of just being Batman's backup dancer.

There are too many people on this board who literally cannot stop thinking about sex, fapping or their stupid fetishes.

>Also fuck trapfags, they force that ironic meme everywhere
I think the worst part is how they're actively trying to make it seem like being into actual women a bad thing.

Sure you can. I haven't seen Emoji movie but I criticize it for having a shitty premise, for other information that is present in the marketing, for coming from a studio that has a bad track record based on the movies I have seen, and I pass along the negative reviews of the people who have seen it. I have no intention of paying to see the Emoji Movie because I can confidently say I feel informed enough to think it is a bad movie, and I can feel free to say so.

This site in general has way too many people who think the quality of someone's existence revolves around how much they are getting laid.

>SU is butch lesbo bait with a autistic fat kid as the main character. But the fedoras hate it because Steven reminds them of themselves. He's whiny, immature, overweight, and a pushover. Just like Eugene when he was a kid.
>Loud House is a experimental harem show for sad neckbeards. The characters aren't allowed to grow, Lincoln is the perfect geeky vehicle for any loser nerd to insert themselves into, and any attempts to shake up the status quo are quickly squashed... Unless if it's progressive in nature.
>Star VS is also harem. But they do tend to deconstruct the concept... Partly by making the main character a illegal it's fanbase can't sympathize with.
>Young Justice should've just stayed dead.
But perhaps my most controversial opinion...
>Ashi was cool and SJ had a fitting ending.

Boy your opinions sure are hot.

Weeeeeeeeeeell, I've seen the rot set in since 2010 - TDK was a great movie, but something about it made Sup Forums snap in a way I can't properly explain, and didn't notice until it was too late.

I keep my storytime threads going mostly because at least then there'll be something halfway decent on Sup Forums, even if it's just Dark Horse Comics' James Bond comics or something weird like that.
>I think the worst part is how they're actively trying to make it seem like being into actual women a bad thing.
Don't forget futafags and their stupid "not fapping to penises is super-gay!" bullshit

those are all things you can criticize because you get that information even without watching the movie, you can say the premise sounds terrible and the trailers make it look insufferable, you can say the art looks bland or the concepts seem uninteresting
however you can't judge if the movie itself is good or bad if you haven't seen it, if any critic did this they would be a terrible one
I guess the meme that no one watches cartoons on the cartoon board is actually right if people don't think this is common sense
you also don't need to pay a single cent to watch a movie, pirating is a thing

The only concession I'll make is that some of the monsters are cool. Though even then I don't remember any being executed well. Evil house and Msytery Inc. clones come to mind.

I just like that it was kind of a "back to basics" thing with sly digs at the original show.

The reason Fred doesn't team up with Shaggy to look for the ghost is because they have nothing in common.

>Futurama wasn't all that good in my opinion.
>I actually really liked the last episode of Rick and Morty. Pickle Rick got meme'd into fucking oblivion, but I thought it was a good episode, and the counseling was a good plot.
>The Critic was an okay show. I felt like too many of the jokes were unrelated to the actual show and it got annoying.
>Teen Titans Go has its moments and I'm fucking tired of everyone talking about how shit it is.
> Mighty Magiswords is the most enjoyable show on Cartoon Network right now, and my personal favorite cartoon airing right now.
>The art from O.K. K.O. bother's the fuck outta me and I don't know why, and all the anime tropes get annoying.
>Infinity Train was shit.
>Gravity Falls season 2 was great.
And I've killed all credibility with one post.

>pirating is a thing

You know what? This brings me to my unpopular opinion contribution
>actually paying for ___
is a dumb, shitty meme that is killing various media industries. And I say that as somebody who is poor as fuck. Pirating content is a wonderful resource for people who would not otherwise be exposed to that content because of region locking and such, but other than that it's a system that just defunds good shit and discourages quality content from being made because the only profits to be had are from the lowest common denominator. And then the people doing the pirating are the ones that whine that good stuff isn't being made, but will they pay for it when it is? No.

>credibility
>On an anonymous imageboard

I defend it only as a way to spend your money wisely, you can watch a movie without paying and if you like it you buy the dvd, that's how it should be in my opinion, that's how you support the industry in a way that lets you choose what's actually good
dvd sales is what brought back family guy from the dead, so it can make a difference
I do still go to the cinema whenever I can, but I kind of understand people who don't want to pay for stuff that they might end up hating
streaming services like netflix are a good option too since you pay for all of it and can choose what to watch, but I guess they don't have ALL the movies so there's that too

>Samurai Jack season 5 wasn't as great as it could have been, but it wasn't the pile of shit Sup Forums paints it as
>I enjoy Ultimate Marvel more than regular Marvel
>The only comic I've regularly collected from start to finish have been Ultimate Spiderman
>Some of my favorite stories and books were fanfics
>I've gotten late, close to the ending, to every single series I've ever loved

>The characters aren't allowed to grow, Lincoln is the perfect geeky vehicle for any loser nerd to insert themselves into, and any attempts to shake up the status quo are quickly squashed... Unless if it's progressive in nature.
As a fan of the show who gives absolutely no shits about the accursed fandom's obsession with harem shit and incest these aren't opinions but just factually wrong statements.

Johnny Test is a passable show, and I think it gets a bit too much hate. Same for TTG

Sanjay and Craig was a pretty good show aside from a few episodes

I'm skeptical of the new Rocko movie

My favorite comics are Ultimate X-Men, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and Marvel 1602.

I think the Simpsons were good until around season 19, and I also think it's starting to get better again with seasons 26 and 27

>My favorite comics are Ultimate X-Men
I feel the relationship drama can get a bit annoying at times and even melodramatic, but for the most part I really enjoy that series.
Many moments do come a bit out of nowhere, such as Logan suddenly saying that he sees Rogue as a little sister just so we can have a sad moment at the end of the story.

I'm not ready to completely drop Rick and Morty based off one shitty episode and one mediocre episode back to back, and not ready to dismiss the female writers either. 3 or 4 more episodes I'll see where I'm at and how much I think the show is lost, but S3E1 was still one of the best of the series and delivered on everything I'd want from the show.

Samuari Jack S5 was beautifully animated but leaned too hard into the FOR ADULTS thing and completely lost the appeal of the original series.

Mystery Inc was fucking shit and misses the point of Scooby Doo harder than most of the fucking straight to video movies.

Home Movies is insanely boring and ugly to look at. I don't know if the point is that it's supposed to be 'comfy' but it has zero laughs to deliver.

The recolor versions of Killing Joke look like absolute dogshit compared to the original run.
