Because at that point only an immature loser would try to deflect what was said with a snappy comeback. Even Rick isn't that edgy

near death
wanted syrum
had to agree

He knew she was right.

He was dying.

The real question is is why Beth took the syringe when she was of the mind that her dad would just make more of it on his own anyway. Was she trying to punk him or not?

Rick's not witty. At all. His ability to think on his feet is completely segregated from his linguistic skills. The depth of his range of insults basically tops out at "You're beneath me", which he already used to 0 effect.

Inconvenience him out of spite in order to avoid a uncomfortable conversation, since she's her fathers daughter.

you try to make a snappy comeback from vegetative state.

he lost his ability to improvise in the first episode

>Why didn't he make a snappy comeback?

Sup Forums hasn't been able to create an acceptable one for pic related. It ain't that easy.

He lost the ability to improvise remember

I hate Beth so much and she's probably shit in bed too.

pickles are made from fruit idiot.

He was dying at that point. Also he and everyone else already knew what she said is true. I feel like Rick's pretty honest with himself about the ways that he is shit. He and Morty and Summer have had all these conversations before. Beth is the only one maybe in denial and even she sort of realizes.

The thing is no matter how hard he screws them Rick's daughter and grandkids will always forgive him, they will always crawl back to him. Jerry has more of a spine than people give him credit for by being the only one to not kiss Rick's ass. Even Morty just rolls over in the end despite the occasional outburst.

Rick really needs everyone kicking him to the curb or something to get his shit together, from all the universes. Or just all the Beths doing it since she's the worst enabler of them all with muh daddy issues.

He knew she was right, and was too tired to bother coming up with a bullshit retort to deflect her.

He met his intellectual match in the conversation.

Because she is the self-insert woman who is always right

She wasn't his match, she's just a therapist and reading people like that was her job while it's not his and Rick thinks psychology is bullshit. And he and Beth just blew what she said off, there was no "Rick BTFO" moment.

>woman
>always right

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because he's smart enough to know that the best way to beat a therapist at their own game is to not play at all

Kek

"Vegetable" is a purely culinary term. It refers to what applications in cuisine a plant part is used for, primarily savory vs sweet. Rick was a pickled cucumber, which while botanically a fruit, is culinarily, a vegetable (just like a tomato, by the way). Thus it is entirely appropriate to refer to cucumbers (and tomatoes) and their pickled forms as vegetables. Idiot.

Ooo snap

because the therapist was a writer's self insert

youtube.com/watch?v=8w6SPXTsoU0

creators disagree

Said nobody ever

because it would be mansplaining
the writers for this season wanted to avoid and kind of situation that had a straight white male talking back to minority women.

She didn't deserve it

Probably because he watched his best friends die at a completely preventable assassination had he been paying attention and knows that he either needs to die or accept the fact that he's a fuck up. He knows his adventures are tours of escapism and that the pickle rick bit was a completely transparent and hollow effort to avoid talking about his life long trauma to someone he think is beneath him. When he's finally faced with it, he's not stupid enough to fight back. He knows he's a piece of shit and immediately gets into the car only to casually dismiss it all and ask to go drink to kill the pain.

Why are you lying

He wouldn't have anything to gain by shitting on the therapist, he was tired and dying and just wanted the goddamn serum. The easiest way to get it was to appease Beth, who last time he checked, wanted him to go to therapy.

>Why did he turn him self into a pickle to avoid it?
>Why not just leave robot rick and visit the dimension where no one ages for a few days?

If you are going to go down the pickle route
>how did he know where the therapists office was?
>Why didn't he go home and open a portal to another rick and get him to turn him back?

if you are able to go to the therapists
>why go in and listen to someone who's opinion you don't care about?
>why didn't he just jump into Beths bag and inject himself if he was in such a hurry to get the serum?

the answer to all these questions and yours
>the writers started with the idea of rick getting talked down and bent the story to fit that set piece irrespective of humour or internal consistency.

Season one had the characters go into crazy space adventures
Season two had them deal with crazy sci fi adventures
In season three Rick experience the adventure of therapy
Season four will have Rick become a math teacher
In season five we have Morty working at the carpet store
The show used to make fun of this kind of crap

This here

In the simulation episode Jerry had the best sex of his life with an inert simulated version of her, so I think you're right.

This
The writers just wanted that scene at the end with Rick getting talked down by a therapist, everything else was just filler
A fucking waste of an episode, didn't even have jokes besides Morty's teacher eating poop and the fact that Morty peed himself in class

>In season three Rick experience the adventure of therapy
>escape from space prison, jump into Mad Max-land to steal some radioactive isotope, turn into a sentient vegetable, kill a group of some Eastern-European mafia
The adventures of therapy.

Yeah, Jerry has a spine where Rick is concerned, but it always feels like that's the only time.

fuck this is actually a good explanation

this show's "golden years" lasted two seasons

Now we are in the platinum year

I think they just want to rap up the characters innate shittiness so they can end the show after this season

why would he need to?
he just took down a crime syndicate as a pickle, he knows she knows he doesn't respect her.

Escapism. Burying himself in an extra ludicrous scenario to escape the mundanity of his actual problems.

He just pulled the robot duplicate con.

From agreeing to the therapy beforehand.

Because Rick would find the idea of asking another Rick for help fucking abominable.

Tired. Giving up.
Too much effort at this point.

Questions like yours could be leveled at just about any Rick and Morty episode, as the bizarreness of the show makes for some wildly contrived plans and behaviour, and in this particular episodes case the extreme contrast between the outlandish insanity and the banal crap was the fucking point.

Now do the botanical definition

>Why didn't he go home and open a portal to another rick and get him to turn him back?

The other Ricks are probably busy dealing with the fallout of the Council of Ricks being obliterated

Because the self-insert therapist has to be superior to everyone, even if it meant winning a debate against the smartest man in the universe.

did everyone here miss what he said in the first episode this season? He lost all his wit with the brain swap.

Not his wit, just his improv. Granted that was a large part of his wit, but that just means he's become one of those people who comes up with a memorable line only after the moment has passed like you.

>Burying himself in an extra ludicrous scenario to escape the mundanity of his actual problems.
why, he proudly tells a stranger in this very episode he killed his daughter to ignore a problem, why does he now feel the need to give an excuse? he was completely fine taking morty out of school and lying to beth and jery about it why does he feel the need to go to the therapy requested by that very same school?

>contrast between the outlandish insanity and the banal crap was the fucking point
you're correct but it didn't work

...

That's the depth range of everyone's insults. Every insult ever basically amounts to stating that youre either being beneath someone or not worthy of something. Racial slurs, calling people ugly, insulting their intelligence, social status, etc.

>why does he feel the need to go to the therapy requested by that very same school?
Beth had the serum to turn him back into a human and his pickle body would probably be dead in the time it would take him to cook up some more

because pickels can't talk

why the pickle charade though? why not jump in a portal before they can even ask you to go?

I'm not even against pickle rick as a joke but having rick try and worm his way out of therapy is such a generic sitcom move, might as well be watching everybody loves Raymond.

...

Rick and Morty is and has always been a generic sitcom story structure wise.

The only thing that makes it stand out are the setting and characters.

But Rick is already the self-insert.

And what is outstanding about a human therapist in a brown office?

>Being this desperate for (you)s that you reply to your own post 6 minutes later
Why?

nigger. have you even listen to what Rick the pickle is talking to the rats and in the east european embassy?

everyone is fucking shiteating the difforce shit when blending out completelly the shit what Ricks does half of the episode.

because when the problem can't be solved by just killing people Rick tends to overthink things and then throw himself headlong into the first mad genius scheme that comes to mind, missing the obvious.
They made that pretty clear in the Cronenberg episode.

>completely ignoring that the other story arc of the episode was a pickle man building a mech suit out of dead rat parts and murdering an entire army of rats only to land in a secret russian facility run by a corrupt government agent, killing everyone inside, blowing up the facility, and flying away with a dude who cauterizes his near death wounds with fucking gunpowder and a match

>secret russian facility

first of all it wasnt russian. the shit in east europe is now that far that russians are more like leading democrats when all "western freedom" countries turned themselves into fucking dictatures. i fucking laughning when friend of my was asking are those russians or who else? no fucking shit. today it can be everyfucking one inclusive balts, polaks and the fucking ukrainian when russkis are fine out of it.

I said STORY STRUCTURE, dipshit.

Sitcom=situational comedy. That means that the episodes are largely unlinked together (in this case they're very loosely linked together) and each episode revolves around the characters reacting to different situations.

The situations presented in Rick and Morty have all been generic sitcom faire from the Beth/Jerry subplot side and have pretty much all been crime drama or movie parodies from the Rick/Morty side.

This isn't a bad thing because the situations themselves aren't what make sitcoms interesting, it's how the characters and setting respond to it. Rick and Morty is a sitcom. If you can't see that you're actually retarded.

fuck off yuropoor

>Sitcom=situational comedy.

nigger. Morty and Rick are fucking tragicomedy and social satire.

everything else you spit out: go fuck yourself moron.

great ad hominem there fucktron you sure wowed me with your amazing arguments, If rick and morty not being a sitcom makes you feel smarter for watching it then continue to delude yourself. Redditor

whats that?

>straight
DIdn't you see the Unity episode? Rick will fuck anything that moves.

Go to bed. I'm sure Putin won't let your mother out of jail any faster if you shitpost now or eight hours from now.
