Be honest, if this had been made instead of the Emoji Movie, would you even watch it?

Be honest, if this had been made instead of the Emoji Movie, would you even watch it?

Yes.

Yes, In fact I would have taken my niece and nephews to see it.

Yeah, I don't find anything interesting about popeye, but the animation looked neat and I'm sure it would be presented in a way that I'd enjoy

Well I wouldn't PAY to watch it. But yes.

Not in the cinema but at netflix sure. Sony can make ok animation.

>No pipe
>No tattoos
>Doesn't punch anybody

It was sanitized garbage assembled by a gutless committee. Wouldn't have bothered with it.

Yes

If the reviews said its faithful then hell yeah i'dve taken my parents and grandma to see it too, we haven't been able to have a good family film night in forever and they loved the old popeye stuff.

Yeah, I liked that clip they showed.

What's that based on exactly?

Genndy grew up on the 80s movie. This was Popeye origin story. Tats and other trappings were to come later.

It was going to be his origin story, I'd bet my bottom dollar he was going to get his pipe and tattoos at some point and have a fight near the end where he was knocking the living daylights out of people. Would have been satisfying as fuck too after the buildup.

...

...

...

Yes.
Especially the following bara porn.

...

Yes. I thought the test footage was good, and Tom Kenny as Popeye was a match made in heaven.

...

Of course.

Fin.

Yes it looked really promising

Even if it had mean butchered to shit by Sony's meddling, yes, because I'm a huge sucker for Popeye.

Yes /thead

Jesus Christ, does anybody really want to wait an hour and a half for Popeye to "become Popeye" only in the last few minutes of the film?

The "superhero origin" template has been worn thin at this point. Nobody wants to see a Popeye movie where he doesn't "become Popeye" until the very end.

I wouldn't.

I've never pretended to care, though.

I would have watched it. I like Popeye.

This

>tfw your nephews think of you as their if he was cool

no I find that cgi just as bad as emoji movie. I'm not gonna spend money on a visual media when the visuals suck

Nah. I'm broke right now and need to seriously limit my movie visits. If the right circumstances aligned, like if it came out and Sup Forums said it was really good and then a friend offered to treat me to a movie then maybe I'd go see it, but that doesn't happen very often. Probably would watch it on netflix later though.

That Medusa movie on the other hand I would at least consider going out of my way to catch just on the premise if the trailer looked good too.

I don't have an image of a gorgon, so have a lizard woman.

Yeah.

No, I would have still gone to see Atomic Blonde instead

But that was a bad movie

That's rule 63 Reptile. I would have sex with both male and female reptiles at the same time. My cum would be everywhere.

Even if it was bad, it would have been better than what we got.

No, that's one of the lizard women from the Flash Gordon cartoon.

Better than the emoji movie, and probably better than the Popeye movie Sony pictures would have made.

this.

Absolutely.

If I knew how SJ season 5 was gonna turn out, I would've traded that with a Popeye movie

What the fuck? Is there an english version?

Here, a gorgon for you.

YES

Nope, I really can't recall anything from the old cartoons and I fear the humor would have felt stale.

Ironically, I'm more eager for the Emoji movie and will watch it when there's a decent rip.

Thanks.

Yeah

I will never be able to be this handsome and that makes me anxious

there is actually a law that doesn't allow to show smoking in kids media

>Atomic blonde
>Good
The Garbage movie got a 68%

Yeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh!

Is it a law or just standard policy?

YES, I mean Tom Kenny as Popeye? There isn't a better fit in the world!

Since i have fond memories of popeye, yes yes i would

i feel like they were trying to do a john wick movie but failed, miserably too.

It tried to be a test for a female bond. Didn't really work.

Better than anything put out by Sony Pictures in a long time. At this point I'm convinced Sony Pictures is just a front for laundering money.
I'm only mentioning Atomic Blonde since it came out the same day as the Emoji movie. If Popeye came out instead a few weeks ago and anything else opened against it, I'd have seen it instead

It's fine he never really smoked the pipe

He really isn't handsome, he just has good beard genetics to hide his awkward face.

Yes, I'm not the biggest Popeyes's fan but I dunno rember watching those reruns when I was younger plus I've got the first volume of the Bobby London strips

Damn right I would. Genndy doing Popeye would have been amazing, but Sony is retarded as fuck.

mostly advertising restriction type laws. the act itself isn't outlawed but anything that can be remotely tied to a real brand is

>tfw you actually love the Popeye movie and think its one of Robin Williams' best performances

With Disney it's been policy for a few years now. If they ever rereleased Atlantis on Bluray they'd probably airbrush out all the cigars and pipes.

Same, I love showing my niece stuff I watched as a kid, she loves Tiny Toons and other 90s WB cartoons.

It always makes me sad to hear Williams was ashamed of that movie, because it really was a great movie. It was a little too slow paced at times, but otherwise it was first class.

same on both points

yes

Fun fact: the movie was based more on the Thimble Theater strips than the shorts.

Nah, I'll just nerd osmosis it like 95% of the movies made in the past 10 years
