It is true Marvel has a lot of female mutants with mental powers. But I think in DC the overall slant might even be male: Martian Manhunter's a big one, who else?

Because if you do a male telepath, people will think he's a Professor Xavier ripoff.

Typically speaking male psychics have a bad rep thanks to creepy fucks like Mastermind and Purple man (he's not a psychic but he fit the bill) using said powers in rapey ways. Most male heroes are stereotypicaly expected to solve conflict through strength of arms and direct conflict

Maxwell?

It's mostly marvel.

Like DC has more speedsters.

Superboy was only tactile tk.

They are in a superior medium, OP

Manhunter is the biggest, but there's Max Lord, Mento from Doom Patrol, Grodd and sometimes Brainiac I believe. and if we count hypnotists, that also adds Mad Mod and Spellbinder.

Oh shit, I forgot about Dr. Psycho and Mr. Mind.

Exodus

In Marvel most psychic characters are mutants

>Justice
>Helion
Are Akiras and not Mindtakers
>Nate Grey
Has Telepathy, but doesnt/cant use it much
>Legion
Has every power

I had an idea for a male character with strong telepathic mind powers and the ability of like limited mind over body (switch between superhuman strength, speed, durability, senses, healing). The first few issues would be told from the viewpoint of his female appartment neighbor across the hall. Her friend comes over and thinks hes hot and he says her name without being told. You know that type of thing where you hint at something greater going but arent 100% sure.

Anyway the neighbor starts having dreams about doing things with the mysterious guy across the hall. Long story short hes been projecting his desires for a companion onto here. Like when you meet a stranger and imagine what there life is, but then you chage their minds to be like your fantasy. She never did go on any cases with him. It'll end with him removing all the memories she has of him.

The most famous psionic comic characters by far are both male. Magneto and Professor X.

Brainiac might be the most powerful psionic in DC. Pre-2008 Brainiac could one-shot an entire team of New Gods that included Orion with one psi-blast and lay the smackdown on the entire Justice League. His New 52 versions was a powerful reality warper who planned to remake the universe in his image and mind fucked all the Earth heroes. Convergence Brainiac actually did do that.

Maxwell Lord, Manchester Black, and Ares are pretty powerful psychics too.

>Magneto
>psionic

Wut?

>rapey ways
There are many solutions to this even for a supervillain. You could make him gay or asexual, or so alpha he's kind of sick of female attention and wouldn't think of doing rapey thinks. Or give him a psychic manifestation otherworldly waifu who lives in his head and on whom he'd never dare to cheat.

Or you can do what they did with Starfox and have him just enjoy it.

He used to have powerful psionic defenses without the helmet

And then the movies happened.
