Alright guys, in the midst of all the teen titans threads...

Alright guys, in the midst of all the teen titans threads, let's talk about another otaku-pandering show from the mid 2000's, hihi puffy amiyumi.
I never feel guilty enough to have guilty pleasures, but this show may be an exception. I know it isn't even the best weeb pandering show, but rewatching it keeps me with a smile on my face the whole time.

Oh god what year are we in this is the best timeline

>hihi
hihihi

THE NIGHT BEGINS TO SHINE!

What's the story behind CN using real Japanese pop artists?

I think this show came out a few years before CN started the Live action era, did that have anything to do with it?

>they were left out of the Night begins to shine
>though they got back together for it's cover.

I think cartoon network wanted original content that tried to appeal to a young wave of anime fans and raise them to start listening to jpop. The original content part was important, the otaku appealing shows already airing weren't CN owned. So having a show owned by the channel and able to cash in on the growing trend of jpop was a win win.

...

You're going about this all wrong y'know. If you truly want threads of this cartoon to flourish, then what you need to do is take a page from the series itself and cater to the waifu demographic.

Sup Forums will always pick Yumi but I always preferred Ami. Mostly because it's the same VA as Jenny from mlaatr and it's more rare to hear her than Grey DeLisle

Basically Sam Register (who was vice president of Cartoon Network at the time) became a fan of the pair when he heard them on the radio wanted to help spread awareness of the group.

Same here.

>Ami being a titty monster
>Yumi having plump pronounced hips

I'm perfectly fine with the two girls gaining these bodytypes.

Hi guys BenTheLooney here

Draw more Puffy porn Ben

Here's an Ami for you.

Not that user, but cute.

Fancy doing a megamilk version?

Do you think they ever fucked?

With each other or witj men?

>with men
Everybody knows that they were lesbians, so that leaves no other option.

Anyone notice how this show ended in 2006, right at the same time where the west's infatuation with Japan ended?

I had my first sex dream about purple haired one. I never had a chance.

Absolutely. What else would two budding preteen celebrities do to pass the time while on the road?

If I had the money I'd also try to make a cartoon show based around a Japanese music artist

i had a huge crush on both of them and i posted my address in a random fan forum hoping they would visit me, i also lost interest in yumi once i found out that she smokes

BenTheLooney saw this thread.
Check his Twitter. He posted a new Ami photo 40 minutes ago. Hi Ben!

Thanks man! Have a showering Ami as a token of appreciation

I'd love to try that. I'll see if I can finish by this evening.

You're kind! I'd like to imagine a bubbly girl like Ami with large breasts.

He's improved, but it's still fucking terrible. Some people just aren't cut for art.
Also, fuck this guy, period.

There's a lot of things Sup Forums will waifu but flat chested girls definitely aren't one of them.

>flat chested girls definitely aren't one of them.
>being this wrong

...

Sorry for the long delay.

Cute one.

Thanks. I like your artstyle.

Sell me on this show. Post an episode or a fragment.

m.watchcartoononline.io/hi-hi-puffy-amiyumi-episode-7-english-dubbed

if we want to take reality into consieration, then Yumi has two kids and it's twice divorced.

Don't know anything about Ami's love life tough

Also Drawfriend if you're still here thanks for the new pics. do you take requests?

I have time for another doodle. What did you have in mind?

Ami and Yumi playing guitar in the nude similar to that one ep of Drawn Together

Do you have a screenshot of that scene from DT?

I remember there being a decent discussion thread a few years back for it's 10th anniversary (yes, it has been out for that long).

Mostly on why it was made, what Puffy themselves thought of the show, a few storytimed comics made for the CN Block Party and why most people didn't like it (general consensus seems to be that it was incredibly cliched despite having so many outlandish and bizzare settings)

it was a surprisingly good thread even though I didn't like the show itself

Terribly sorry to keep you waiting. Will this work?

Yes, yes it will. I'll try getting this done tonight.

Ami's cuter, has that double bun thing going on which is a bit of a turn-on personally speakin, not a generic punk girl and has my voicefu so she's the best girl by far.

Thanks! I apologize for not supplying the screencap earlier

It's no problem!

Mind if I ask, who is your favorite out of the two?

If I really had to pick a favorite, then I would go with Yumi mainly because she seems the more adventurous and dominant when it comes to sexual matters compared to Ami.

I could see that. I usually go towards Yumi too if I had to choose, but both of them are really fun.

Also, I think Yumi would have the booty of the two.

I dunno why but I love the idea of giving cartoon women contradictory proportions for some reason. It just gives me a surge of satisfaction going from one extreme to another

I remember watching this when it came on originally and actually liking it. Nowadays, almost everyone I hear who talks about it makes it out to be an abomination. Was it really that bad and it's just nostalgia keeping me from disliking it?

If you divorce the show from the cute girls it's not offensively bad but it's the definition of forgettable despite how hard it tries to be one of those "so wacky" japanese shows

That's interesting to hear. I'm actually going to sketch out a Yumi right now, showcasing her hips.

Beautiful job. It was well worth the wait.

I find that very fascinating since I personally believe Ami is more inclined to be the more easygoing of the two, baring both her body and soul to Yumi than the other way around.

While Ami has the bigger heart and breasts

I have been listening their albums. It's happy music. I like it.

Keep the thread alive. I want to draw them tomorrow.

You know how I like to imagine their bodytypes. Ass-girl and tits-girl. Here's Yumi, thick thighs and all.

Looking forward to see what you'll do.

Roger roger

I remember hearing Amiyumi are hated in Japan. Can't remember where I heard this though

Edd...?

Ami's married and has a kid along with some stepchildren.

Where can we find more of your work, dude?

you wouldn't happy to have a link to that thread, would you?

As a matter of fact I just happen to have the link right here
desuarchive.org/co/thread/80429477/

...

>that one episode where they had nightmares due to sushi

Usually it's DA and tumblr, but I've been more active on the latter lately. sb99doodles.tumblr.com

And by all means, if you ever want to chat as well, please send me a message.

What kind of bodytype do you picture Julie having?

Good question. Ami has the boobs, Yumi has the butt, and Julie could do nicely in both those departments, but smaller in size.

Who's this supposed to be? Some Wannabe Puffy member?

>Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi
My first cartoon crushes. Oh man, the memories.

Otaku-pandering doesn't even exist in Japan, so what makes you think an American company would come up with the idea? How is this even targeted at otaku? Or is it a weeb pandering show? Which is it? Because otaku and weeb are two completely different things.

Seems like a fair enough compromise. I imagine she's somewhat self-conscious about her figure when compared to Ami and Yumi

Otaku pandering doesn't exist in Japan...

You know, except all the fan service shows, moe shit, hentai, the entire videogame industry, cheap anime trinkets in every shop, vending machine, etc oh, and you know billboards, magazines, entire industries dedicated entirely to pandering to otaku.

But other than THAT you're right...

Op is an idiot though. Weebs do watch the show, but they aren't exactly being pandered to by it. I'd say totally spies is more of a week pandering show, because it was made in a wannabe anime inspired style specifically to draw in weebs.

Teen titans go and hihi (etc) have the anime touches, yes, but lots of weebs would be annoyed by them, because they're not "serious". And honestly, a lot of the week elements are done jokingly.

I know you want to believe that Japan is filled with all sorts of weebshit in a weeb paradise but it's not. Most of that shit is relegated to akihabara, normal japanese people don't consume anime and manga on a regular basis and those that do are seen as losers.

T. Someone who has actual Japanese relatives

None of those things are pandering. You think they are pandering because you don't like them, and then you project that dislike onto the creators because in your mind they are "normal" people like you, as opposed to the evil "otaku" consumers, and there's no way they would like any of that stuff. But that is not how things work in Japan.

Attitudes towards otaku/otaku anime/otaku culture have changed significantly over time, just as attitudes towards "geeky" things have in America.

Most people might not regularly watch anime beyond the likes of Sazae-san and One Piece, but manga has been very mainstream for a long time now.

It's a humorous thought. Julie wants to be just as famous as them, yet she can't help but glance as the band's gifted assets.

You're trying to shift simply reading manga as a reason to be labeled an otaku and let me tell you that it doesn't work that way. Just to let you know that not even Manga isn't even consumed regularly by regular Japanese except children. And otaku culture as far as anime and manga goes is still seen as probed with losers

>implying
I'm pretty sure Sup Forums has less standards than Sup Forums when it comes to waifus.

I just said that manga is mainstream in Japan, that's the opposite of saying reading it makes someone an otaku.

There's manga made for all demographics and it's not unusual for adults to read it. There's a lot of people in America who never read books or read them rarely, yet nobody would claim that books are not mainstream.

>And otaku culture as far as anime and manga goes is still seen as probed with losers
Then how would you explain, for example, the popularity of Love Live? Or Kemono friends?

>desuarchive.org/co/thread/80429477/
holy hell I remember that thread! it was actually pretty fun.

user I'm really digging your stile.
may I ask for ami & Yumi respectively in Starfire and raven's clothes? I've seen the opposite but never this.
if you can't don't worry, just wanted to tell you how much I'm enjoying your drawings.

Are there any other girls in the show worth mentioning?

It's quite alright. I'm flattered! Also, it's not often to meet more AmiYumi fans, so this is great.

Do you, or anyone use Discord?

Where they the reason for the squid sisters?

>Do you, or anyone use Discord?
fuck off
aren't you that diaper-boy, sb99, or something?

Not the user you were replying to but I do use Discord. I'm pretty sure some other anons use it too. You have a server or something?

No?

Idol groups have always been a thing in Japan.

I could make a server if you're interested. I just suggested Discord as one way to chat more.

Yeah, if you make one, I'd hop in. All up to you though.

Here ya go. Hope this works. discord.gg/fQG3j3

OR here thank you a lot user! it's great.

And I do have a discord. maybe I'l come to chat.

Not really. Besides, the three we have are enough

This sounds suspicious. You're not doing lewd things are you Anonymous?

I hope they're taking care of themselves these days.

>bringing that up after all these years
>your fetishes surprised and disgusted me
>have a decent summer

This wasn't otaku pandering at all, you fucking retard

Did you even watch the show?

>None of those things are pandering. You think they are pandering because you don't like them

Nigger, are you dense? There are many instances of anime done specifically to pander to otaku/weebs. Anons even gave a list and mentioned akihabara.

user gives list of examples of otaku pandering and this is your response? Plus your explanation is bullshit. Many of the creators in the anime industry, especially the otaku pandering kind are otakus themselves.

A little something with all three.
