PUNISHER STORYTIME
All this year I'll be storytiming Punisher comics, with most of the focus being on pre-Ennis era material. You can expect some Ennis era stuff as well at some point. Maybe even also post some post-Ennis era material. Expect at least 1 storytime every week.
Earlier this week I posted the first several issues of Chuck Dixon's run on The Punisher War Journal (which you can still read here: ). 7 awesome issues of standalone "done-in-one" stories, all showcasing Dixon's grittier action-heavy street crime focused style of Punisher stories, with the man himself taking on everything from mafia hits to home invasions to train hijackers to botched robberies and even a Christmas story! And all without a single super villain or major recurring character making a single appearance. Just Frank vs. down-to-earth criminals, taking out the trash, and kicking some ass.
Today's storytime is the COMPLETE opposite of all that.
Today we're going to read 1 bigass LONG AS FUCK story arc called "Dead Man's Hand", a 9 issue intra-company "crossover" that ran between The Punisher War Journal, Daredevil, and Nomad (remember him? y'know, the 3rd BUCKY?) in 1992 for 3 issues a piece.
It stars the three titular characters, and features a METRIC FUCKING TON OF VILLAINS AND GUEST STARS. I MEAN FOR FUCK'S SAKE THERE ARE SO MANY CHARACTERS IN THIS! It'd really be easier to name who ISN'T in this, so I won't even bother. Just trust me, you'll wanna stick around to see who all shows up.
It's a pretty cool story overall and one of the better examples of taking The Punisher and throwing him in with a bunch of superheroes and super villains and actually making it work (probably by sticking to ones that it sort of made sense for him to team-up/fight with).
So let's read this thing.
