X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX

Is there hope?

>In 1991, the X-Men - Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) - face their greatest challenge yet when the Shi'ar Galactic Empire arrives on Earth to execute Jean Grey, whose expanding telepathic and telekinetic powers represent a threat to the entire cosmos. In doing so, they inadvertly awaken the mighty and merciless Dark Phoenix from the darkest corners of Jean's mind, placing all of existence at peril. To both save Jean and stop the Phoenix's rampage, the X-Men must once again join forces with Magneto (Michael Fassbender) to confront the forces of Empress Lilandra (Jessica Chastain).

Magneto will reportedly be in Genosha and forming the Acolytes, which will include Toad and Ink from X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

X-Men movies will never be good again. They will just have different levels of bad all the way up to tolerable. This movie focuses on a rigid actress who plays Jean the titular character, how do you think this movie will be?

Kota Eberhardt is playing Luna, who is "beautiful, intense and exudes a sense of power. Although she is a commanding presence, she is also slightly unhinged."

Scott Shepherd is playing Dr. John Grey, Jean's estranged father.

Lamar Johnson is playing Shane, "A cocky, handsome kid with swagger. He is strong and doesn’t back down easily, so he can come off as an insensitive bully at times."

Halston Sage is playing Alison Blaire / Dazzler, "Very attractive, charismatic and confident. A bit edgy with a fiery personality, and a born entertainer."

Character left to be cast.

>HIROSHI [Male, Early-Mid 20s, Japanese]. A brash Tokyo punk kid with an attitude. Although Hiroshi is young, he can command the attention of a room and is always ready for a fight. Must be able to speak English fluently, but open to an accent (could be Japanese, British…). LEAD.

Reportedly, this is Sunfire. Japanese popstar Rain was attached to the role, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

>COLIN [Male, 16, Caucasian]. Handsome, but not arrogant. Always willing to help a friend in need, no matter what it costs him. Although he is sensitive, he is not a pushover and will stand up for what he believes. LEAD.

>LUCCA [Male, 40s-50s, Brazilian]. Ruthless and cunning, will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Must be able to speak English fluently, but can have an accent. SUPPORTING.

>MARIE [Female, 6 years old, Caucasian]. An old soul trapped in a little girl’s body. Marie is a strong, but conflicted child who does not like to share her feelings. There’s something a bit eerie and haunted about her. MUST be able to show a wide array of emotions with ease. SUPPORTING.

>HAMILTON [Male, 12 years old, open to all ethnicities]. Chubby, sweet, innocent and genuine. Although he frequently gets picked on, he never lets it get to him. SUPPORTING.

>CHARLOTTE [Female, early-mid 30s, Caucasian]. A caring, warm mother. Charlotte can be stern at times, but she just wants what is best for her child. SUPPORTING.

>REDMOND [Male, 50s-Early 60s, open to all ethnicities]. An affluent, big, stocky, ruddy American. Not necessarily fit, just physically imposing. Powerful, arrogant and blunt, Redmond is not used to being challenged and steamrolls anyone who opposes him. SUPPORTING.

>JACK [Male, Late 40s-Early 50s, British, open to all ethnicities]. Handsome, charismatic and masculine. Jack is very self-assured, almost cocky, but too cool to show it. Even in the most tense situations, he never shows fear. SUPPORTING.

>WILLIAM [Male, Early 50s, Caucasian]. A grounded, earnest middle-aged man. William carries a heaviness and a deep sense of sadness with him. SUPPORTING.

>HOOVER [Male, 30s-40s, open to all ethnicities]. A man with a very strong presence, Hoover is an incredibly smart and serious intelligence officer. SUPPORTING.

>LUNA [Female, Mid-Late 20s, open to all ethnicities]. Beautiful, could possibly have a severe look. Luna is intense and exudes a sense of power. Although she is a commanding presence, she is also slightly unhinged. SUPPORTING.

>SCARLET [Female, 20s, open to all ethnicities]. Very beautiful and fit. She is powerful and never backs down from an argument. Role requires a good deal of action/movement. Actresses with major dance, parkour, gymnastics or martial arts training are a huge plus. Should not be afraid of heights and must be comfortable in a wire harness. SUPPORTING.

These are rumored to all be members of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard. "Hoover" is confirmed to be an alien.

>dofp
>logan
>deadpool
>>xmen movies will never be good again

One of these people are dazzler.

DoFP was tolerable. The rest aren't x-men films. That is like saying Winter soldier was an avengers film.

Marie is young jean and Charlotte is her mom.
And i think they picked halston. pic related

>Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence)
>the X-Men must once again join forces with Magneto (Michael Fassbender)
ffs.

>and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence)
>the X-Men must once again join forces with Magneto (Michael Fassbender)
Stop it you fuckers. Ah. Fuck. Stop.

>This movie focuses on a rigid actress who plays Jean the titular character, how do you think this movie will be?

>dofp was tolerable
i disagree unless you just hate the story altogether.
second part is fake to me. why would he form the brotherhood and acolytes then do a reverse for the 3rd time?

>the X-Men must once again join forces with Magneto
Just make Magneto part of the team already jesus

She looks like an anorexic lesbian

>No Wolverine

Why bother?

What about DoFP was good besides the scenes in the future, Quick Silver and the fan service we got at the end? There was way to much boring stuff happening between scenes and there was little in the way of X-Men actually being present. I think it is a 6.5/10

But to each their own I guess.

I think I speak for all xfags when I say go kill yourself

not real. only the illandra part is confirmed
I disagree mate. The great acting and character development kept the movie together. Not everything has to in your face action.

Phoenix is the worst part of X-Men

The moment the Phoenix has any relevance to the story it just turns into ZZZZZZZZZZ

Do u think dazzler getting a one shot and a cameo on this will let her be slightly more popular xoxo

Chances of an X-23 cameo?

Shes a supporting role. Apparently the concert is in new york.

>that fucking hairline/forehead

Telekinetically fix that shit bitch.

so shes not going to be like jubilee?

>Unhinged yet powerful

Pretty sure that's just a description of the X men to be honest.

And fuck, I thought this was a promo poster for apocalypse I missed, not a whole new movie.

Why a movie about Phoenix? They're still missing Gambit, and unless they're planning to go cosmic, you've missed out on half the best things about end game x men arcs.

nah but jubilee is back
its a apocalypse poster but with a different logo.

The new Shark boy and Lava girl reboot is looking good.
Can't wait to get some pictures of Shark boy!

I really like Sophie Turner. I hope she's the best part of the film.

>Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence)
nope

>(Jennifer Lawrence)

Jesus, fuck off already.

Cute.

Everyone else is on set, where is the moviewrecker?

Don't care one bit about it. Don't care about Deadpool 2 anymore cause it's going to be trash too.

Only want to see New Mutants, even if it turns out shit. But it's the only one with a chance of being good. Fucking Demon Bear

>Jeniffer Lawrence still leading the X-men (lets be honest, she stopped playing Mystique after first class)
>cyclops will probably still be a characterless loaf of bread after 17 years of movies
>Quicksilver only for probably another shot at recreating the slomo scene from DOFP
>no Wolverine for Pheonix
>no Collosus
>no Gambit
>no Jubilee
>or any othe interesting member of the 90's roster
>Magneto doing a 180 but not really AGAIN
JUST FUCKING REBOOT THIS SHIT ALREADY

>More Jlaw

MAKE IT STOP!

>short white hair
>black
MUH DICK

Deadpool 2 is looking pretty great. If your going to bring up domino don't even reply.
We don't need more wolverine. Dazzler and sunfire are a good start.

if your going to make a movie about the 90's X-men then Wolverine is a must

Not in this timeline mate
4 out of 7 isnt bad

>Deadpool 2 is looking pretty great.
Post proof. If your going to bring up cable don't even reply.

Black tom cassidy

>Doing Phoenix in the second movie Jean was introduced in with absolutely 0 buildup or relationship with Scott

Spyke?
some of these are hellfire

They'll probably turn it around and have them admitting their feelings for each other being the emotional turning point of the movie.

These jumps between decades are supposed to fill in the character work

Age of Apocalypse was a perfect X-movie. Sansa Stark is a mistake but Dark Phoenix is hardly a psychodrama. I'm optimistic.

>Age of Apocalypse was a perfect X-movie.

>Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence)
>Magneto (Michael Fassbender)
Oh boy, I can't wait for Mystique and Magneto to be the main characters again.

Thanks, Fox. You Assholes.

>94675686
Blame singer. Simon will bring x-kino back

Just give the rights back to Marvel, Fox

A Phoenix adaptation without the love triangle? hmmm

> tokyo punk

this is exactly the opposite of what Sunfire is.

So at what point does Logan reunite with Charles and become a history teacher at the school? Same time as the last time line? Well if every film jumps ten years ahead wouldn't Hugh Jackman have to be in the next one?

Also

>Charles and Erik have now aged eight years in thirty years

Continuity is fucked

>sunfire isn't a dick
yeah okay.

Just destroy all Mutants already.

fuck off trask

Uh
Excuse you
This is Steven Lang
Dumb bitch

>Is there hope?

No, this is a stupid move again

the audience got to love Jean Grey first, she has to be the american girlfriend
everyone have to love her
so after 5 or 6 movies they introduces the Dark Phoenix
Not now

the best thing about Dark Phoenix:

>Jean Grey was the most powerful woman of Marvel in that time and turned the biggest villain of the universe

comics took years to bring DF
you don't do it in only 2 movies

>expecting a properly character-driven assembly of the X-team in these latter days
Apocalypse drove the team together and they did a bunch of stuff culminating in a flashy climactic battle against Apocalypse. It didn't cheap out, or bog down in trite emotional arcs that the actors probably couldn't carry even if the screenwriters could write them. Compared to the distinguished competition of late, AoA had good energy and good focus.
These are good points, though.

Gonna be watching Marvel's Inhumans instead.

X-Men are lame and nobody cares about them anymore.

No Bryan Singer this time around, so I'm pretty optimistic. Maybe we'll see some dudes who can act instead of whatever flavor of the month cocksleeve he's parading around onscreen.

Tye Sheridan is so fug, I can't believe even Singer would casting couch him

>AoA had good energy and good focus.

Age of Apocalypse focused 90% on Mystique and Magneto and Magneto's shitty family. Jean, Cyclops, Storm and Nightcrawler were pushed to the side. Havok dies and is instantly forgotten. Mystique is the Jesus of Mutants and Leader of the X-Men.

The actions scenes were terrible and looked like shit. The CGI looked like something from a CW show.

Age of Apocalypse was literally garbage.

>More JLaw and Fassbender
Just make a deal with Marvel a Studios like Sony did, Fox

The director wrote X3 and Apocalypse.

Get ready for another shitty X-Men movie. Or more accurately, the Jennifer Lawrence/Michael Fassbender: The Movie (guest staring some other people)

Remember when Jennifer Lawrence tried to sneak her ugly pigface into the MCU with Mystique? Hilarious.

X3 was meddled by FOX, don't blame the writers, they wanted to actually do pheonix.

Can you not? its their rights they can do whatever they want with it. Plus marvel/fox have been working together for a while now.

>Simon Kinberg involved in any way, shape or form

No thanks

Marvel Studios would do a better job than Fox though. They actually know how to make good comic book movies.
Plus the X-Men in the MCU would be awesome.

Remember when he compared Apocalypse to a Roland Emmerich film like it was a good thing? And he wonders why his movie was dogshit.

Heres that (you) you wanted so much. Also thereally is something called competition which makes both sides produce better movies. Do you really want DC to be the only competition Marvel has?

>$155k
>competition

>competition
It's not really competition since Marvel Studios are the only one consistently making movies (with NO rotten scores on rotten tomatoes).

Plus if Marvel Studios acquired X-Men and Fantastic Four back, they could probably acquire DC's movie rights. Heck, maybe they can also get Transformers and TMNT and fix them.

lets also not forget that Cyclops is barely a character and has no real relationship with jean at this point
its going to be really interesting to see how they are going to make this work

>RT scores
>mattering
At the end of the day what matters is how much money they make and the fact is that while DC movies are bashed at every turn they still make a solid profit.
Suicide Squad made more money than Dr. Strange and it didn't even opened in China, and Wonder Woman outperformed Guardians 2 and Homecoming in the domestic market. BvS didn't reach the billion everyone was expecting, but it still made good numbers (800m) even though profitability wasn't as good as your average Marvel movie due to the budget/profit ratio.

JLaw is barely in this compared to the last two movies. Beast could (and probably should) have done everything she did in the film, but it's whatever. Magneto has always been a lynchpin of the X-men, he was Apocalypse's most important pawn, and Fassbender can actually act. I see no problem there. The rest are supporting characters outside the comics, and Nightcrawler had the most important job in the final assault anyway.
>The CGI looked like something from a CW show.
Now that's just silly, even for nerdperbole.

these are your X-men
that'll be 13.99$ ticket plus tip

They will make it work by focusing on JLaw and Fassbender. The main stars of the X-Men franchise. Because the stars of Passengers and Assassin's Creed will save this franchise just like they saved it in Age of Apocalypse.

this looks like a ps3 model

>JLaw is barely in this
Lies. She was in most of the movie and couldn't be assed to put on make-up.

>Fassbender can actually act
He can't. Apocalypse was him literally chewing the scenery. He's as bad as Tom Hardy.

She better be, if the follow the same trend, then this movie takes place in the 90s, it's her time to shine.

You know if it's Lana Condor, or if they're recasting again?

Don't worry. Most of them will be in the background. Gotta make room for Mystique, Prof X, and Magneto!!!!

Maybe it's because I'm aware of the green screens and unconsciously look for stuff that looks off, but most of Hollywood's CGI looks like crap.

What?

Age of Apocalypse did very little money.

You clearly not the other guy since your actually funny.

>they've done the Prof X vs Magneto plot 3 times already
Just what the fuck are they thinking?

how does Beast manage to look worse each movie
the greatest loss of the old continuity will always be Kelsey Grammer

Is that her?

It was worse in Apocalypse
>Magneto kills millions of people across the earth
>Prof X lets him go
At some point, the friendship can only go so far.

500 million is pretty good for a badly critized movie

Tacticool costumes aside I really like how the 00s X-Men movie characters looked. Well, maybe not Jean, she looked kind of old.

Yeah funny how that's ultimate wolverines costume

Have you seen the dudes Singer goes for? For as rich a dude as he is, you'd think he'd get better-looking dudes.

Oh. Well, there goes what little optimism I did have.

Most VFX studios do not last long. Even when they outsource to half a dozen different ones around the world (Civil War had almost 20 since ILM can only do so much), you have that inconsistency because a studio will work on this scene, but not that and gets really egregious when they are put back-to-back.

Badly criticized? More like completely ignored. The entirety of the X-Men are making Ant-Man numbers.

Here's how an actual badly criticized movie with pretty good numbers look:
>boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=dc2016.htm

Same with Mystique
