>inb4 duck molestation.

How will they update Scrooge's past? Make him an oil baron in the 60s?

Reminder that this is a no shipping zone.

What are some good Duck comics?

Howard the Duck.

Carl Barks, Don Rosa, whatever you can read of the Italian shit, and the current ongoing isn't horrible.

The only update is that he's been alive for an obscenely long time.

The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck is the only one I ever read. It was really good though so I recommend that.

...

Why Sup Forums just don't post the Barks comics as a warm up?
The new episodes are set for september for fuk sake

But when they show his past?

>McDuck Water and Electric

Now THAT'S interesting. I admittedly haven't read the comics and it's been ages since I saw the original show, but I don't recall Scrooge having a company in either. But now he seems to own the Duckverse equivalent of General Electric. I suppose it makes sense. Scrooge is undoubtedly a savvy enough businessman to run a major industrial concern, and instead of sitting on all that money he made adventuring it's probably a good idea to use it create some entity that can actively be earning him even MORE money.

He owned the chocolate factory from the first arc of the show. But yeah even then its usually implied his welth comes from adventure and he holds onto it instead of spending it.

>its usually implied his welth

*it's usually implied his wealth

user, I've seen you in so many threads. How are you everywhere at once?

>Ducktales babbies not knowing the first thing about Scrooge

He owns companies in basically every field of industry and development, like 90% of Duckburg is in turn owned by his companies. The vast majority of his wealth ISN'T in his money bin - the bin is reserved for money he made PERSONALLY on adventures, like a trophy case, and he never uses any of the money in it.

I think I'm most excited for the episode that's gonna feature a team-up with Darkwing against Quackerjack. I'd like to see how the kids and other citizens view the superheroes/villains of St. Canard.

I'd like a kind of Doc Ock flavored Megavolt. Still crazy, but not quite as pathetic as he was in the original; the dude's supposed to be Darkwing's nemesis after all, but he never really comes across like that.

So that's a good question, how would you make Megs more of a threat without making him unfunny? All I've got is making his obsession with "liberating toasters" wanting to use bioelectric energy to bring life to metal objects, which might've been what he was working on before he snapped

Also depending on who you ask he owns companies in every single country on earth, has caused nationwide coin shortages with his hoarding and pays for a vast majority of the US military budget with his taxes alone.

Damn that's like $90.

...

it's worth mentioning that the money in Scrooge's bin is merely the money he earned himself, which is itself a mere fraction of his full value

to put it in perspective, Scrooge controls so much money and companies that one story revolved around him getting Donald to spend frivolously enough to get himself into a lower tax bracket, and in the end all the money he spent ended up coming back to him multiply

>All I've got is making his obsession with "liberating toasters" wanting to use bioelectric energy to bring life to metal objects, which might've been what he was working on before he snapped
not a bad idea, only problem is it might be stepping on Bushroot's shtick a bit(now that presents an issue, who could we possibly get to replace Bushroot's original VA?)

maybe we could amp up Megavolt's default power level up massively without touching his personality much, so what makes him so dangerous is in fact how pathetic of a person he is, it makes him quick to snap, and petty in the worst of ways(like say vaporizing someone who took the last carton of milk ahead of him at the grocery store)

>duckRnot4lewd.png
>implying

>ended up coming back to him multiply

What is up with those shoes?!

It almost seems like Donald and Scrooge are close to making up buy the end of the premiere. I mean, Donald is willing to live with Scrooge now. I assume there's going to be something else that keeps a wedge between them, at least for a while.

user are you me?I have been staring at them trying to figure out why they are lumpy and shit and why you would be shining lumpy shoes. And whether the guy is supposed to be rich enough to get his shoes shined or poor because of the way he's dressed. But then also if he's poor, why bother with a shoe shine when your shoes are made of coal lumps?

>user are you me?I have

*user, are you me? I have

People who don't know the story of the number one dime!

Can you post with a trip so I can filter you please? Correcting people for a mistype is so pretty and if it's a bot there's even more reason to attach a trip to it

>Can you post with a trip so I can filter you please?

*Can you post with a trip so I can filter you, please?

His shoes are covered in lumpy mud with rocks/half dried cement?/probably some shit based on the kids face

Isn't it magic or something

>Isn't it magic or something

*Isn't it magic or something?

Depends on the story. Some Barks stories it was. Rosa is confident it's not. Instead it's a symbol of hard work and perseverance, the first step towards being the richest duck in the world.

Magica de Spell certainly thinks it's special, though.

Just finished watching the premiere.

They fucked it up pretty bad. Why would you force an iconic character like Donald in Duck Tales?

I don't get it.

Nyet. Magica wants it because it's symbolically important, being the first and most cherished coin of the richest person in the world.
Like how lightining struck wood isn't magical, but is useful in magic because it symbolizes the destructive power of nature.

?

Are you fucking retarded? Donald was already in the Barks and Don Rosa comics. Launchpad was the OC they added over him in the original Ducktales.

It's subtle, isn't it?

On that note, who else is really happy with Launchpad? He basically hasn't changed at all. As a fan of both OG Ducktales and Darkwing Duck it's pretty nice to see him reappear as exactly the same character he used to be, a big dumb lunk who can somehow drive or pilot anything that moves.

Okay thanks for the info How do ya think the show will handle. Cant say for sure but I feel it's not gonna be a big focus this season

Are they going to reveal that Glumgold is really a Boer?

Cuz that'd be a hilarious reveal.

>Okay thanks for the info.

*Okay, thanks for the info.

I feel like the show is going to go with the "I'm not going to get fucked over" again angle TLATOSM presented, abd a few previews showcased it.

Given all the talk about his incredible fakeness and cheapness by the writers, I feel like something along those lines has to be coming.

It's weird that his new VA sounds really close to his old one.

...

Some doodles tonight.

Donald's also in one first scenes of the first episode of the first Ducktales, and came back for cameo episodes every so often. He wasn't a constant regular, but he was there often enough.

>duck ass

Yeah, you know what you're doing. Great doodles, though!

I wonder if we'll get an episode where Webby tries to get Donald to make her his apprentice or something. This version of her pretty much idolizes the Duck family and wants to go on adventures. It'd be a fun contrast to what Scrooge is doing with the triplets.

I'll admit I had a total brainfart while typing that, couldn't think of a better way to say it

Like the majestic salmon swimming upstream.

Was very pleased with Launchpad. Like you said, it's the same character inside and out. Even the voice was great.

I just watched one of her earlier Ducktales episodes. She wants the dime because it represents essentially all the right decisions, all the hard work, and all the benefits of Scrooge Mcduck. She basically says it's a token of everything successful, and her plan is to channel those energies into power, which would make her all powerful.

His repeated earnest "I'm a pilot!" got chuckles out of me. Launchpad is best duck husbando. Or pelican. Actually, what is Launchpad?

Kalevala arc WHEN

Rosa would not get anything for it, so for his sake I hope never.

>More faithful to the original Barks comics
>Fucked up

Both the Barks and Don Rosa comics had Donald adventuring with Scrooge and the triplets. There are also several stories with Donald being a hard-working, doting uncle doing his best to provide for his nephews.

Don't give contrarians such easy (you)s

>you will never live in a comfy houseboat

He would get the recognition he deserves. Money is not everything, user.

We've been over this.

He's a pilot.

It's reprinted in one or two of the Fantagraphics books.

I actually really like the way the beagle boys look in this style

does porn for this series call for corkscrew penises?

>shoe shiners
>in a world, where most people walk barefooted

It's a wonder Scrooge could make it that far with his poor entrepreneurial senses

The Don Rosa library volumes 4 and 5 have Life and Times, plus the Lost Library of Alexandra story.

$30 each retail, but you could get them cheaper on Anazon.

user, don't be ridiculous. He's wearing a kilt. That's how Scottish he is.

Why are fictional mobile homes always so comfy?

he invented wonder metal wich is an alloy thats both lighter and stronger than steel wich is used to build everything from bridges to bracelets

i dont think its inherently magic, its made magic because its the catalyst of scrooges will wich he has a ton of

So is this where I should start if I want to get into duck comics?

Rosa's stories are a good starting point because they're pretty much all great. Barks is the OG and there are collected volumes of his stuff too, but there's a lot of it and to me at least it's more hit and miss. New DuckTales seems primarily to be drawing from Barks & Rosa stuff if the references in the first two-parter are anything to go by.

>captha: Cornelius Hills
Coot confirmed for Brawl?

Probably, just remember you're going to be missing a lot of references to Barks' work but it's still enjoyable.

Scrooge, on one of his first adventures, turns out to own an airport.

He got paid with a dime he couldn't even spend in Scottland, and his early years were fraught with poor ventures that lost him all the money he'd earned very quickly.
Scrooge McDuck is who he is becausehe had to learn and grow as a person in the face of adversity, not because he was born with supernatural economic skill.

From the beginning is what I did.

He already gets a lot of recognition, the problem is that throughout his career at Disney he constantly got screwed over when it comes to money.

I don't have that book, but I think that's the series where they're printing all of Rosa's works chronologically? If that is the case, I don't recommend for you to start with that particular book. Rosa's first few stories weren't as polished as his later works, look up some of the later volumes instead. Or maybe some Barks.
Most duck stories don't have continuity, so you can start reading anywhere you want to. (Life and Times is one of the exceptions though, it's best to read that in the right order)

He doesn't actually. The Duck comics are extremely niche in the States and the only Duck related thing that got recognition was the original Ducktales. And guess what that show did: It tooks concepts and storylines that he and Barks had invented, only to bastardize them and leave both without any credit.

Rosa never got the recognition or the respect he deserved. He was revered in Europe (mainly the Nordic countries, especially Finland) but in his home town, not even his neighbor knew what he did as his job.

I want him to get the recognition he deserves. I want the new show to use his stories and put the man's name in the credits. With big bold letters. "Dedicated to Uncle Keno"
It's the absolute least that Disney can do at this point.

Maybe my perspective is skewed because I live in a duck-loving country and I see him getting tons of recognition. And I believe he gets it in other European countries too. It's just USA where Barks and Rosa fail to get much appreciation, but Rosa receives so much love in Europe that it's pretty exhausting for him.

I would like to see him earning royalties from his work, because he listed that as his #1 reason for why he chose to quit. He was upset about Disney reprinting his works over and over again, without him earning any money from it.

That's why I have mixed feelings about the idea of Rosa's stuff popping up in this new show. I'd like to see Rosa content, but I'd hate to see Rosa getting screwed over again.

>And guess what that show did: It tooks concepts and storylines that he and Barks had invented
Rosa was just starting his duck career at the time the original Ducktales aired. "Life and Times" wasn't even done back then, it was first released a couple of years after Ducktales had already ended its run.

>He already gets a lot of recognition
See my pic for his recognition in the US.

Then see this video for his recognition in Finland:
youtube.com/watch?v=86LXCtHT2XU

It is two different worlds.

i really like the first episode but i have 3 MINOR as fuck nitpick

1) donald talked a little too much like donald, couldnt hear anything he was saying.
2) the girl is proficient at martial art and know pretty much everything of the occult that are relevent to the situation but the nephews lost all their knowledge of being in the boy scouts.(they arent bot scouts in the reboot)
3) why would you put laser trip wires under a bridge?

Oh jesus..

The trip wires would obviously get tripped when the bridge sagged from the weight.

>they arent bot scouts in the reboot)
Huey still is, they split it into being his thing.

1) Its the same Donald VA they've used since the eighties. Give it another watch, you'll probably make out what he says better.

2) Webby's not too into the occult, she's just a fangirl of Scrooge, so naturally she knows about Scrooge's stuff from his adventures. She seemed clueless about Atlantis. Also Huey's confirmed the team Junior Woodchuck now, the other two have their own differing hobbies it seems.

Fuck, that's depressing. The US pic I mean.

If it brings the dude that recognition here then yeah, by all means use and CREDIT him and Barks for their stories.

why does he have to be like this?

Because people allow him to be profitable by doing so, and he just likes fucking around. The memes that "make fun of him" only make him more notable, especially when he just goes around and uses them himself, and he has a discord with thousands of people in it that encourage him to do it with all the "hip memes".
Supposedly he's at least a cool guy in person, but the internet encourages people to be like this.

Because
He's the Shad-man
Ba-da-ba-da-ba-be bop bop bodda bope
