It's pretty much a "capitalism cartoon".
You want a Communist cartoon, look at Khrushchev era. Lotsa fucking shit about corn, rubble coins defeating dollars, Soviet rockets being the best etc.
Does anyone know if the music video for this is from anything? It looks pretty good.

This is more like it, "The Secret of the Third Planet" and the whole Kir Bulychev-verse is set in a future where Communism won, Russian became the lingua franca instead of English, now the humans are going into space and parallel fairytale dimensions and pretty much acting like the Federation from Star Trek.
I feel this is mandatory

Of course they do, none of them are standing in front of their flags!
For those curios (or terminally autistic), from left to right: Polish Space Marine, VDV, Czechoslovakian, Bulgarian Back Stabber, Hungarian, Best German
The clips all come from different cartoons. The only one I can recognize is from one called "Opлeнoк" or "Eaglet" (clip starts at 1:16).
Here's the full version of it: youtube.com

Still better than Frozen.
YES
1960s Soviet Union had a nice aesthetic to it
The movie is pretty generic, by modern standards at least, but I absolutely love the animation of the Snow Queen herself. She has these uncannily smooth, sweeping motions so you can feel how otherworldly and powerful she is without any words.
Also, I like how she doesn't really get defeated in the end.
>"Oh well, you kids just had to bring the power of love into this. Can't be bothered to deal with this shit, kthxbye."
SOVIET MOE ANIME
It's the tradition that counts. Animators weren't born in 88.

wtf are you talking about, you tumblr-head retard?
I always get giddy about hungarian animation because they are so good and feels one of a kind. But then I get depressed because I remember this happened and that hungarian animation is effectively dead.
I have lived my life never knowing that was a soviet cartoon
I used to watch that almost weekly

you probably don't know, but Malchish Kibalchish was like a cartoon hero and a mascot of the romanticized revolution made for kids who were growing up not knowing the czarist times... don't know about the newer generations, but at least my (80's-born) still all knew the name and at least the basic premise.
Give me the story user
it even had a toyline
>they make the American female soldier a vixen
What did Kim mean by this
Not Warsaw Pact
the first one Cat City (Hungarian: Macskafogó (Cat Catcher)) was a huge hit in the eastern Europe. It was really good. I watched it a million times as a kid, but even when I recently rewatched it it was still as good. It is somewhere in the top10 of IMDB animation charts i think.
Some ~20 years later the nostalgia kicked in and they made a sequel. I couldn't bear to watch past the first 3 minutes or so.
I love that show because it's like looking through time and seeing the politics and socio-economics of the 60s. Géza sucking up to his boss because they had near life or death power over their employers, how stingy and tricky they are about their money (they sell an antique coin to their neighbour, they argue for a long time about the price and when they finish the neighbour buys it for half price anyway cause the Mézga's owned money for him anyway), and how everyone is generally tearing into everyone verbally or otherwise.
The writing is just so damn great too, really high class and full with puns and witty comebacks.
Like this one:
- You untrained baboon! You degenerate Papuan bastard!
- Hey mom, would you look at how Dad is praising the son of his CEO?
- Nonsense honey. That's a decorated student at the University of Technology.
- Yeah. By day and without the wig.
It sounds really dry in English unfortunately, but in the original dub they speak in an extremely colourful way.
Doktor Bubó was like that too, I read my old comic recently, it's chock full of political and other socio-economical puns and references. They obviously don't mention any politicians since that's a big no-no, but they tear into so much of the system anyway. I almost regret selling my DVDs of that show, but unfortunately they were extremely poor VHS transfers anyway. The Mézga DVDs are the polar opposite, some of the best cartoon transfers I've ever seen.
Also, Kriszta is a cutie.
It counts because North Korea like the Warsaw Pact is communist.
God, Macskafogó 2 was so fucking bad.
They also did a 3d sequel to Vuk of all things.

Does Sup Forums eat their sandwiches buttered side down like true patricians?
The superior beauty and the beast.
>3d sequel to Vuk
Oh no.
Last time I checked, Sup Forums was eager to claim that nuking Eastern Bloc countries would have been preferable to letting them exist under gommies.
Nah, I think I'll take a pass on Sup Forums's autism today.
Not really. DPRK was closely intertwined with People's Republic of China, which half of the time had been on bad terms with Soviet Union and its satellites. Only commie Albania saw China and North Korea as its allies.

They're in the Warsaw Pact, of course they are depressed.
Used to love that movie as a kid. They showed a few times on television in my country, and it was glorious. Both me, my sister and our mom sat down and watched to just enjoy the animation.
Shit I remember that, it even got an English release for some reason. IT'S WORSE THAN FOODFIGHT and I'm absolutely not kidding

Children vs Wizards is pretty much the most vile animated movie in existence, but at least it didn't waste millions of taxpayers' money.
russian orthodox church mainly exists through donations, that are made by poor people, like seniors (and being senior in ruassia is just a little bit better than being a bum). it leeches on the people's desperation. so I really don't know if its any better or worse.
It's hard to overstate how good the original Cat City is. I rewatched it recently and it completely holds up even today.
The only full version on Youtube has garbage quality, but the english dub is on Kisscartoon. I think it's a must watch. The dub's not bad either, some wordplay is lost, but it's alright.
Except the songs. The songs are way better in hungarian.
youtube.com
Could have been worse. Catholic church around the world does the same, but much unlike orthodox church in Russia, it funnels money out of its respective countries.
The official (and likely overstated) budget is like 1/10 of Kis Vuk's, and part of it came from private sponsors. It's still alarming that a movie that's essentially Jack Chick meets Sup Forums meets FSB can get produced and distributed, but thankfully it was barely a blip on the radar.
Just to illustrate how fucking BELOVED this thing is in Hungary, this movie is quoted about almost as much in daily conversations, as, say Pulp Fiction. The original dialogue is just verbal fireworks.
Thanks for the new reaction image

>it even got an English release
That got canned as far as I know. At least, no one's been able to find any info on the English dub outside the trailer. Maybe the movie got dubbed, but it looks like it never actually got a release on any platform. Which is a shame, cause it would have deserved more negative press.
On the other hand, Kis Vuk was produced with an international release in mind, so the fact that it never materialized just makes the creators' failure even more complete.
Boy joins Soviet army with his mama because he can not do anything by himself. Officers are too scared to report it to generals so they allow it. My mom loves it fro some reason.
