To fellow freedom lovers, do not be alarmed by this.
The South Koreans basically hate everyone who isn't a Korean. They like the idea of them "being smart and playing both sides". President Park (who appears to be a bit of a lunatic) plays up to this shamelessly. She also plays up to the anti-Japan shit over there too. It's unhelpful but not particularly significant.
But here's the thing. To the SK military, China is the enemy. After all, it was with Chinese backing that North Korea launched its surprise attack on South Korea in 1950 and then - when the South was on the brink of capturing the entire peninsula - Mao sent millions of Chinese over the border to attack the Korean/UN forces and push them back. The Korean war ended in a stale mate at original borders... with about 1 in 6 Koreans dead for nothing.
Without the Chinese, the South would have never had to fight the war. And if the Chinese hadn't invaded, the South would have at least captured the whole country.
Koreans are shifty, dishonest cunts in my experience. But their military know who their friend and ally is. And it isn't the fucking Chinese Communist Party.
