So, I uh have been watching this show called Steven Universe. Now Steven Universe is about a child who is half lesbian-alien, and half normal. It has deep episodes about best friends shapeshifting into dead mothers, family friends being jealous that your mother never fucked them, and subtle gay undertones.

Well the thing is, a lot of these characters are pretty deep. You have Yellow Diamond, who harbors this deep, immense hatred for Earth and all of it's inhabitants. She really looks down on any creature from that planet, seeing them as lesser than she is, not being fit to occupy the same uni- I'm just gonna come out and say it, this gal's a real jerk!

When you think about it to some extent the crystal gems fought against homeworld for basically their right to be hetero
We have seen that homeworld only allow fusion if it's homogeneous like with the ruby soldiers or the topaz duo. And from what have seen so far heterogeneous fusion is a essential tactic for the crystal gems and might have been the same during the war
For example ruby and sapphire joined the group so they could be together as blue diamonds court shunned and BD herself wanted to shatter them when they fused for the first time
Pearl joined the rebellion so she could be with rose and a quartz/pearl relationship would have probably be shut down pretty quickly on homeworld
And rose got with Greg (somebody gems from home world would have looked down on) and pearl has implied in Mr Greg that their others before him
