Why did it fail so badly?

Why did it fail so badly?

goddamn, those bodies are perfect

Here's your answer

>implying it didn't find a way and become a hit
Leap! always finds a way, laddie.

>3D animation that's not by Disney
>3D animation with no supreme pushing of celebrity voice actors

DOOMED.

The entire summer box office has been a shitshow. I think the only movies that have actually performed at or above expectations are, ironically, comic book movies. Everything else was mediocre at best and a complete bomb at worst.

Or, well, Dunkirk did okay.

Also:
>foreign animated film that wasn't made for the arthouse audience/wasn't a Japanese anime
Also, Your Name. may have overshadowed Ballerina, methinks.

Don't worry, Leap! will still find a way.

Something about Not Disney Pixar studios just cannot make a decent trailer.

There's always like weird, not matching voice clips and shit and an "off brand" voiceover guy that really sells the hype at a microwaved hotdog level.

They sucked all the original charm out of the movie slapping untalented "celebrities" in the voice roles.

end yourself

It came out months ago elsewhere and everyone's already seen it.

They did fine.

They're okay. Faces could be cuter. They all look like they're holding in a fart in that ballerina pose.

That is the cutest trap. I hope this movie generates lots of fanart.

The English dubs (yes, there are two dubs) were fine.
Actually, I found them better than the original French version.
Even if I am fluent in French.

Also, the movie is really great (my favorite non-Japanese foreign animated film of last year) and it's also really fun, cute and heartwarming but don't expect this to be as amazing as something from Studio Ghibli or Makoto Shinkai.

Which one?

This. And despite being within driving/ferry distance of the UK, France cannot get decent English voice acting to save its life.

The Redhead in the center.

It already made back its budget overseas, so it didn't fail.

It flopped in US theaters because the marketing was shit and the summer box office is poor as a whole. The reviews aren't that great either.

French films don't do well here.
See: Valerian

Christ, you fucks need to go outside.

...

If you google the movie it has a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.

>Harvey Weinstein
There's your answer

...

When is the English dub of The Son of Bigfoot coming out?

god damn I wish

Porn when?

Because it failed to be better than Princess Tutu

are traps gay?

Too many artists these days are terrified of being branded with the scarlet letter for doing loli so I don't expect much. It seems we can only rely on provocateurs in it for the controversy points now.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but where the hell is Shadman or Jlullaby on this?!

Holding ballerina poses gives you fart suppression face (or fsf).

I dunno, I think having nothing would be preferable to shad making more art.

Yes. Only queers like boobs on their twinks.

I'm seeing it tonight.

Porn artists will never come close to capturing the style and look of the characters, especially when it's in 3D

I can never finish masturbating to Frozen porn because Elsa never looks right.

I'm with you there. For some reason OW manages to pull it off though. But expecting anything near that quality for Leap is a pipe dream.

I want to make her dream about my pipe
:^)

If anyone could emulate the look of CG characters for porn, without the use of fucking SFM, then they might as well work in the industry instead.

Why be successful and ply a trade when you could provide hours of distraction to a lecherous horde that will give you almost nothing? It just doesn't make any sense, user. On a possibly related note, the more I look up random stills of this movie the more surprised I am it didn't do well.

>box office sucks for everything right now
>not an established animation studio
>not quirky enough to draw attention like Laika was before it got established
>not American made so people aren't going to see foreign cartoons
It's a perfect storm that makes no one care.

I still want to see it though and I'm sad it failed.

> and not not when a when a comedy a boring trailer.

Honestly it looks really boring.

They stopped advertising it like a year before it came out

Because it was extremely bland and generic.

Outright bad at times, especially when it came to the stupid inventor friend as well as the rich boy romance sub plot.

> Girl successfully out-dances a dozen other girls despite the fact that she has only had informal training by a professional for a few days at best, while the other girls have presumably been taught in fancy ballet schools since they were 5.

>Girl
kek, that's a boy, user.

...

for what? feeling attracted to females?

Don't pretend like you don't know why. It's because you find a ginger attractive.

Last weekend was the worst box office in over 15 years, and this weekend is forecast to be even worse.

It's not the quality of the movies so much as they're just not currently releasing anything that people are excited to go see. Was Leap even advertised that much?

Rev up your exiting mouse jpegs, but I think Shad does alright at emulating the style when drawing CGI characters in 2d.

>Shad does alright
No. No he doesn't. Shad doesn't do anything alright. He is visual ipecac.

Might be wrong but its release date in the US might be a good reason why it suffered, at least in my area. Didnt seem to have a proper time when it would actually start playing in theaters and every movie poster and trailer just kept saying 'coming soon' up until one day it just popped up out of nowhere. Work at a theater and most of our customers were surprised seeing it suddenly on our listings.

I don't hate Shad's style (it's okay), but he likes to draw slutty loli which isn't my preference. I doubt Leap! even made enough of a splash to get his attention. He seems to prefer to draw higher profile stuff and bask in the outrage.

sure fag

Bad marketing?

I don't even know what movie this is

do not forget the Emoji Movie

a million sequels on the way!

Well you can tell it was french. Surprised they went with attempted murder and I liked the dancing.

...

Weinstein got it on the cheap, and didn't spend much to market. Its box office is perfectly within expectations. In that sense it's not a failure.

Leap has the music and teen stars, but didn't play this up. They didn't even pay their own actors to make a tweet or two about it, which is standard marketing practice now.

>Why did it fail so badly?
Not a single commercial for it. Didn't even know it existed until I saw this thread.

I only saw a trailer for it once and even then the trailer made it seem like boys would enjoy it

>He is visual ipecac.
So he makes your tears green and explosive and also makes them fly in wide arcs before landing?

Wow someone with some sense.

The people who make decent CG porn just shoot themselves in the foot too because they have no portfolio and no reputable work history and are stuck on patreon until that well goes dry.

God forbid major companies actually clamping down on their IPs being exploited and sue or C&D.

Same. A buddy of mine manages a theatre here in western Canada and he was clueless about it when I asked him.

Love this.

So expressive

Oh, that animation is on point. I'm almost sad this didn't do well.

Female struggle is meaningless, 3D doesn't pull audiences without the Disney marketing machine behind it, and people are not watching movies in general.

>Female struggle is meaningless
But Black Swan though!

This bothered me as well. At least she should have been there for a year and girls should have dropped in every month instead of in a week.

Also I felt there were a few out of place scenes especially at the end, like they didn't really thought how the story will go. I did expect the last battle will be much longer.

Black Swan is about mental illness and abuse tho.

Not watching movies in a theater, is more like it. Stubborn archaic nonsense. Eliminate the time frame and watch them all but vanish.

I don't even know what movie that is OP. So that's probably part of your answer right there.

It also had much higher star power.

They probably get to London to do some scouting and think they're in Paris.

>Tonight. You.
Heheh, tonight you, it's like he's threatening me or something.

I actually knew a chick who did ballet seriously but quit because it was getting in the way of high school.
Unfortunately I was friends with her brother first and I will not violate the bro
>Real qt too, shame

Wait? The ginger is a trap? Is there something about being a ginger that makes boys become traps?

No, she is a girl, but a realistic one. Which is may or may not your fetish.

>The ginger is a trap?
No you ass

>Is there something about being a ginger that makes boys become traps?

Its the lack of a soul really

She ain't, her name is Felicie and she ain't got a dick. Anons are just thirsty for traps and delusional. They're seeing things that aren't there.

Shitty character design, looks like they wanted the pixar/disney look but were so bad they couldn't even rip that off, top that off with the worst poster since 'sir Billi'.

A tv show like Miraculous Ladybug / Trollhunters has ten times better production values and character designs than this crap, why would anyone pay ticket price to see shit like this ?

Try harder

Cry harder

Never heard of it.

from the trailer blonde girl is a stuck up bitch making her the best girl

shes such a bitch I love it

From all the buzz I heard from Twitter, this didn't fail.
It found a way.
Leap! always finds a way.

She doesn't appear in the film much though.
>Nora was best girl

OH GOD WHEN SHE STARTED CRYING IT MADE ME NUT SO HARD!

Has this movie been seen in Japan? Because it would be a crime if this was only done by people with zbsolutely no shame like the shadfucker.

>Leap!
>finding a way
Pick one.

Shut up with your memes, Leap! will never find a way.
Also, you confused it for another foreign animated film from last year.
It wasn't Leap! that found a way, it was Your Name., Sup Forums just loves to call it Keit-Ai because of memes.
Pic related.

I'm glad I saw this in theaters.

It's a long shot since, on one hand, animated films that aren't made in Japan or made by Disney/Pixar have usually bombed in Japan, especially if it's DreamWorks.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 was actually released direct-to-video there, and Kung Fu Panda 3 was a Netflix exclusive, because of the sheer unpopularity of non-Disney animated films.

There are some miraculous exceptions like Illumination's films (for some reason), Ferngully, Thumbelina and Anastasia, which managed to do well in Japan despite not being from Disney, Pixar, Illumination or some Japanese anime studio.
But only time will tell if Ballerina will become one of those films.
Also, The Peanuts Movie managed to do well because Peanuts is really popular in Japan.

While on the other hand, Carly Rae Jepsen is really popular in Japan to the point that some of her songs, as well as a music video, were Japan-only.
Her latest full album, E-MO-TION, was actually released in Japan months earlier than the rest of the world.
It was a huge success in Japan while it bombed horribly in most other countries.
It was still critically acclaimed and is a cult classic, though.
And because Carly Rae Jepsen has two new songs for Ballerina, maybe the Japanese will go watch this movie for said songs.

And the number of many other pop songs in the movie may attract Japanese audiences too.

that's wrong though. she always danced on her own, meaning the teacher was there to give tips, it wasn't a start from scratch
