Ahoy roy.

Today I learned there's a song called Saturn Girl because the radio played it in relation to the scuttling of a NASA Saturn probe. I am pretty sure it isn't about Imra.

Haha time for autism!

for once that is pretty applicable

They couldn't even find an attractive white boy with an ass for Dick's casting and had to cast that ugly thing baka

...

Hello, Storyteller.

Is it just me or is the art for this book a bit... well, not good? It's, rough, to put it diplomatically.

He looks fine, just doesn't have delicious black hair. Hopefully they dye it.

BTW enjoy this Best of All Possible Franks:

>should of

He's flat as a board though, that's unacceptable.

They had ONE job and didn't fulfill it.

>Dalrymple
>"not good"
kys senpai

It's a completely deliberate aesthetic by Dalrymple and it's his style, YMMV

>Michelle Pfeiffer chairspins in t minus X issues.

So, to no one's surprise, Disney's Marvel's The Inhumans is fucking shit! I love that they ruined that one obscure Inhuman all the waifufaggots loved, that's actually legit awesome.

>homo-schooled
>Alice
The sad part, is that my recollection of middle school tells me those really are the best insults they could come up with.

See, this is why I hate all the memes about all Texans being bigoted religious nutjobs. From living in Texas and New York, I can tell you no one in New York would do something like this.

Granted, I see lots of hugeass trucks like that around here covered in racist/misogynistic slogans too. But most people here seem to have a strong sense of duty to their fellow man.

But if you want another song!

youtube.com/watch?v=qMGcaDYSrMM

Live action Dick has no butt

Titans is doomed

That's all day every day on Sup Forums.

I mean it's kind of ridiculous to put all that Punisher shit on a truck and yet, let's be honest, it's also fucking cool. But what they are doing with The Punisher is transcendently awesome.

FLOODING - THE ULTIMATE CRIME.

MOTHER NATURE HAS GOTTEN AWAY WITH TOO MUCH FOR TOO LONG. BUT NOW ONE BAD MOTHERFUCKER IS GONNA MAKE MOMMA PAY.

The art in this has the black kids drawn at borderline COMIX grade racial caricature, so I think that was deliberate.

>it's also fucking cool

I dunno if the Punisher is like a Texas thing or an everything thing but I see it EVERYWHERE down here.

It would make more sense to have a Superman truck because you can't really punish a hurricane. Or can you?

> one woman brought a steak.

I don't know, though, I think Comics Frank would probably use a hurricane as a way/excuse to murder looters.

If this is deliberate, then it just ain't working for me, sorry.

I mean, I don't hate it, since it's still clear and generally on model, but I can't really enjoy it either. I much prefer cleaner styles.

There's not not something to the whole "Punisher as toxic masculinity" meme, although I do love me some Frank

Maximus is the one well cast tho

that's fair; the hand-lettering is something I run hot and cold on, specifically. The panel borders are also a very hand-done style.

>I can tell you no one in New York would do something like this.

I kind of feel like that might be checkable given that Hurricane Sandy was like... two years ago? Although Manhattan was spared the bulk of the flooding.

Sandy was in 2012, dude

Counterpoint: youtube.com/watch?v=IPmq9YuBbLk

He would be the guy on a roof sniping people

FUCKING TIME, STOP HAPPENING FASTER THAN I REALIZE.

...

That statue is fucking great.

BTW, Saturn Girl song- youtube.com/watch?v=_7isIwL7wNQ

There were helpers of course but most of the people I know from up there are the kind to make a post on social media and make a donation and do nothing else despite living IN the city.

I guess making sweeping statements about New York (even as my home state) is hypocritical since I'm criticizing people for doing the same to Texas, but from all my time there I never met anyone who was the type to get themselves involved in disaster relief.

this is good background work

I can totally imagine it existing as well

Same, yesterday I was like "oh yeah Jason Todd just came back like five years ago, right" and then I realized it has been more than a fucking decade.

I know, right?

I would like to have backyard chickens but too much mess/work/etc

like, tell me I don't need this because I don't but I want it: omlet.us/shop/chicken_keeping/eglu_cube/

That last panel is pretty fiendish in perspective. I feel like Darlymple's style can kinda mess you up for when he goes for detail: I remember when the Wrenchies gets weird it's pretty fucking wild.

there are a lot of textless sequences in this book where he goes to town

that is pretty sweet

I have never heard of this Mink guy, and I feel like I should be angry at Marvel for this fact. Thus dude is exactly the kind of total nutbar I can get behind. There need to be more superheroes who operate like super villains.

>You mean like Tony Stark?
No I do not mean like Tony Stark, cause he's just a piece of shit who people pretend is a hero because the movies said so.

I can't wait till Brandon Graham sells out and makes like an official Hypno Hustler comic or something

This Omega is certainly less upright than the old one.

>Collect fresh eggs using the Eggport
Sorry, Storyteller, you need to buy this. And then savagely tear apart a whole chicken with your teeth because utensils are for non-mutes.

Fresh eggs are amazing compared to supermarket eggs, and I love eggs, so, yeah.

Naw FUCK that. What you want is a bear proof chicken cage with an electrified fence and a 10 ton underground weight. A huge fucking skull on the front, PUNISHER in blood-red neon and THE CHICKEN SLAVERS underneath.

youtube.com/watch?v=NXfC16rv_fs
I know you don't watch this OP but I couldn't help myself

>A huge fucking skull on the front, PUNISHER in blood-red neon and THE CHICKEN SLAVERS underneath.

Beautiful

I mean if you're going that far you might as well have a sex dungeon, except no one here has a basement, you know?

(There was some copy written about Harvey obviously done by an out-of-towner because it referred to a basement. LOL no one in Houston has a fucking basement)

...

Eyyyyy the Fonz!

When I first moved here I was like "why is every house made of brick and why are there no basements", and then I tried to dig in my yard and found out why.

wait, what

>S. E. Hinton, The Outsiders, or "what do you mean you think my book is gay"

>Brandon Graham sells out
If it was gonna happen, it'd happen. Let the man have his minor indie comic fame and succession of transsexual porn star gfs.

His new blog/newsletter/...thing actually looks pretty sweet. I mean in not selling out Brandon has actually been way better at talent management and coordinating work to go out than either Marvel or DC, and he doesn't even work for Image.

Oh god.

The other week Cruise got all nostalgic over Lowe and posted pics from the movie. It was sweet.

>why is every house made of brick

Because Straw and Sticks are not Wolf-resistant.

A character is literally called Ponyboy.

You know this and I know this but she got all bent out of shape by people slashing her characters

These odd interludes in the book are weird, but I like 'em.

Although I guess the incredible immovable book probably just ends up tying in to Fonzie's bling.

...

What the fuck... Did we suddenly switch comics or something? What is this Chronenberg shit?

It reminds me a lot of the diner in Foolkiller. As does the reverend/fast food van guy actually.

OH SHIII-

GO MINKS!

Haha, that fucking statue

I wish Marvel would put out some literary WTF stuff like this more often

I'd just like more genuinely weird stuff from them more often.

They really do need their own Young Animal/old-school Vertigo line, don't they?

No, seriously, why is this suddenly a horror book? It's like the comic changed genre in the last few pages of the issue.

Gettin' Life is Strange flashbacks here.

BEHOLD THIS PAGE

Right, this is definitely weirder than anything I can think of recent at all

Marvel can't even figure out how to make quality capeshit right now.

I say this all the time but I have no idea what the fuck they're doing.

It's been lurking all along--the book sticking to the dude is borderline horror with the surrealism

Sounds like a good use of EPIC.

Or a resurrection of the stand alone Marvel Graphic Novel.

>tfw people always ignore the diversity of shit that Marvel and DC used to put out so they can justify shitting on 'capefags'

They are releasing an experimental comic that uses Twin Peaks-style incomprehensible dialogue and confusing pacing, it's called "America".

Secret Wars was that rare 'natural relaunch' scenario but instead of really looking at things hard they cruised on the remnants of NOW! and didn't realize how stale they'd all gotten. And now Legacy really doesn't seem to have learned a damn thing.

I'm coming around to it just being whatever the fuck it feels like, at least it's not bland

I don't think they do either. Nothing they're doing makes sense anymore....

It's an ingenious strategy

Even like the Gru cosmic we read is much weirder than what Marvel cosmic is now. It's not just Marvel: DC taps the New Gods and almost never makes them as high energy and weird as Kirby did.

I feel there are trends toward it but never a total embracing of it without being unironic - Gwenpool or w/e is like the ironic thing you get. They play D&D, it's self-aware, etc. But I want unbound weirdness. I'd need to argue this out either but recently I feel Standoff was kind of much more out there and stranger than Secret Empire actually turned out to be?

Boy, I'll slap ya.

Comics aren't allowed to be weird and surreal anymore. Everything must be super serious and grim and epic, because that equals good. True art is angsty.

TDKR was a mistake.

The possibly shapeshifting statue of possibly Charles Xavier becoming a character of sorts is just perfect for this book.

TDKR was kind of weird and surreal in a way though. Remember when Supes got hit by a nuke?

TDKR was totally fucking weird. Sin City is too. Ronin, Elektra. Frank Miller's comics are weird.

I liked Frankencastle so much because it felt like a new COMICS! moment as opposed to the "Hey look, we brought back something weird and funny like Capwolf!"

Standoff is now a frustrating pocket of unrealized potential.

Right, there's a lot of weird shit in Frank Miller comics

Ronin was a trip, yeah. Elektra Lives Again is like a fever dream, but in a really good way.

...

Fuck, even 300 with it's blatant homo-fetishism is weird.

...

>it felt like a new COMICS! moment as opposed to the "Hey look, we brought back something weird and funny like Capwolf!"
100% agreed. There's of course something to be said of further exploring forgotten concepts but comics should also be open to fucking around as much as they want, because it's all going back to status quo in the end anyway.

Unironically think this btw

No, and neither did any of the fuckers who have heard of it, and tried to emulate it without knowing why it caught on with readers. All anyone saw was "TDKR was dark and serious.", and they assumed that's all it takes to be good. And decades later, comics are still plagued with the indestructible cancer that is TDKR's superficial influence.
