Why doesn't DC treat Greco-Roman mythology the same way Marvel treats Norse mythology?

It seems Thor has a lot more emphases on Asgard along with the various other deities and legends of Norse mythology than Wonder Women has on Mt.Olympus, the Greek Gods and the various legends found in Greco-Roman mythology. Take for example the new Wonder Women movie. Ares could have been more developed but instead was a generic "humans are bastards" villain. The gods were dead sans Zeus and only existed as a faint echo. Meanwhile Earth and Asgard practically have diplomatic relations in the MU. Part of the problem is that Wonder Women's homeland is Themyscira as opposed to Mt.Olympus, naturally isolating her from interaction with the other Greek Gods.

1. No one cares about the movie incarnations
2. The Greek Gods have always been a bag of dicks

Azz tried his fucking hardest but Cucka threw it all away

>Take for example the new Wonder Women movie
Mayeb you should try reading the comics?, kike 70% of WW stories involve her dealing with gods and mythological creatures.

The greco-roman gods are small-time. Why focus on just one pantheon we can focus on ALL OF THEM!

Fourth World is their Asgard equivalent.

No he didn't. None of his gods had any relevance to the rest of the DCU, they were decidedly unmystical and basically sitcom characters, they had no technology or world of their own because they spent 99% of their time on Earth chasing around a fucking baby. The only times you saw any kind of mystical world was Olympus which was like one fucking room with a little pool in it (compared to Perez's Olympus which was an awesome non-Euclidian maze of temples and statuary suspended in the sky) and a big-standard Underworld that looked like every other depiction of Hell ever.

And ironically Azz stole his Greek gods from Rucka's first run which did the same Game of Thrones drama with "modernized" depictions. But you Azzfags like to conveniently forget about that.

captain marvel (more of black adam) has the egyptian pantheon
who else are featured?
wasn't there a SHAZAM type but derived his powers from other gods instead?

>*giggles* You like my smelly feet little man?

Yes ma'am. I do.

Captain Marvel is greco-roman with a dash of biblical but really Captain Marvel and Black Adam is like a child's fantasy .

>It seems Thor has a lot more emphases on Asgard along with the various other deities and legends of Norse mythology than Wonder Women has on Mt.Olympus

It's almost like you don't actually read these comic books or something.

hence the specification that black adam's side of the story is more egyptian (or at least references the egyptian pantheon).

wonder how wonder woman (and the greek pantheon) would react to this version of athena (and her army)?

Laugh at how useless Saori actually is.

Question
Do the amazons not allow men of any humanoid race on the island or is that just humans.

haha

That isn't a rule anymore post-Crisis, but pre-Crisis it applied to all males.

Marvel treats Norse mythology like shit
>"they're aliens now because muh christianity!"
>"norse hero must be blond even if he's ginger in the legends"
>"make everything american, they won't get it otherwise"
>"there are only three real gods right"
>what is wadmal
>what is accuracy

>because muh Christianity
Kirby made them ancient aliens you mongoloid fuckhead

And later writers have kept it up because there's only one true god or w/e

So the Amazons have horses and mythical beasts on their island. Are they all immortal too?

Yeah that's totally the only reason.

It usually goes CM gets his from Greek while adam gets his from Egyptian ones after he got stripped of the CM title.

Nope. They breed horses normally and hunt deer and boars. Im assuming male animals must have been fine but they never said specifically.

Pre-Crisis they had various mythological creatures living on the island and in Jiminez's early 2000's run they took in a bunch of mythological and prehistoric creatures from Skartaris, some of which they bred as battle animals.

Didn't Captain Marvel even have an aboriginal God show up?

The God of Petrol Fumes?

Read Wonder Woman comics you fucking pleb.

Post more WW feet.

Everyone does Greco-Roman, tho.

You...you didn't read the comics, then...?

Did you read Rucka's first run? 80% of it was gods fucking around with each other.

but not as a main focus.

>fuckin' casuals
If a there needs to be far less emphasis on Greek myth shit in WW. Especially in recent years, the book has been inundated with it, to the detriment of all the original elements of the series.

Wonder Woman used to have tons of really cool shit like invisible jet planes, horse-sized riding kangaroos, an Amazon spacecraft fleet they used in their frequent battles against the hostile Plutonian empire, a former Nazi scientist who defected to the Amazons, Paradise Island being converted into a spaceship, Themyscira being an archipelago among which was Science Island...

But then all the myth shit pushed that stuff aside because superhero comics have to be super serious all the time now, which usually translates to being really fucking dour and boring.

Forget it, user. Azz-fags are delusional fuckwits who cannot perceive anything outside their Joss Whedon fanfic series.

Honestly fuck off. This isn't true at all. You haven't opened a single one of either of their comics if you think this is true.

Fucking asgard used to float over like Oklahoma. Lets not act like thats super Norse.

1. Movie incarnations are literally the only ones that matter
2. Eat a bag of dicks nerd

then go talk to Sup Forums about it

>like marvel treats norse mythology

the norse Thor had red hair
greek gods for the most part are all pieces of petty shit
Ares' powers were easily sucked up by Rogue
viking helmets were norman helmets. there were no helmets with horns
the vikings smelted their own iron ore that was shipped up the river Volga from Iran

>an Amazon spacecraft fleet they used in their frequent battles against the hostile Plutonian empire,
Dope

Right? But we can't have that anymore because MUH GREEK MYTH.

>Wonder Woman used to have tons of really cool shit like invisible jet planes, horse-sized riding kangaroos, an Amazon spacecraft fleet they used in their frequent battles against the hostile Plutonian empire, a former Nazi scientist who defected to the Amazons, Paradise Island being converted into a spaceship, Themyscira being an archipelago among which was Science Island...
none of this is contradictory to the spirt of Greek myth. Must I reminder you in ancient Greece they use to have technological wonders in the temples to showcase the natural world?

Of course none of it is necessarily contrary. What I'm saying is that it's been cast aside for the sake of harping on Greek myth. And to the franchise's detriment, frankly. Pretty much everything involving Greek mythology has been done, so there aren't any interesting stories left to tell with those elements, especially when none of it is unique to WW.

We could be developing the Amazons' culture and society, or dealing with the shaky treaty they have with the Plutonians... but nah, let's just have yet more family drama with the Olympians. Again. For the quite possibly literally millionth time.

Because the greek pantheon is just part of the setting not the actual story itself. Exploring them would be a side series but it's not what WW is about.

>wasn't there a SHAZAM type but derived his powers from other gods instead?

Billy got during Darkseid War but DW was trash so it wasn't really explored

>source manipuulation

too OP

Seriously, the Amazons went from a bizarre culture of scientific/physical pursuit with casual access to space cruisers and time travel that actual dealt with extraordinary threats once in a while, to a bunch a spear throwing idiots who have never seen a gun before and still claim to be good warriors and diplomats despite having been in isolation for a few thousand of years.

Yep. Pretty fucking lame, honestly.

I 100 percent agree with this. The fact that people legit want Circe in the next movie really pisses me off. The cool thing about WW is her mix of Greek myth, WWII, and Silver Age villains. And people have been ignoring most of the silver age weirdness for years in lieu of Greek myth stuff. Why can't we just have a WW vs. Cheetah movie where WW chases Barbara around the world trying to stop her murder spree while also focusing on Barbara and Diana's former friendship/relationship?

Thor is entirely different than he was in the edda.

>Peter Dinklage will never play Dr. Psycho
I literally will not accept anyone else for Dr.Psycho. the Dink can be 90 years old and I would still demand he plays Dr.Psycho.

Isn't Thor, Odin, Loki, and the rest of the Asgardians Space Aliens?

Why are footfags consistently the worst?

Why aren't other fetishists as annoying?

They are. There's a reason for containment boards.

>The fact that people legit want Circe in the next movie really pisses me off.
Hold on, Circe is fucking great though. She's one of gloriously crazy things about WW. Yeah, she's taken from The Odyssey and all, but the comics version is very much unique to this franchise.

She banished the Amazons to a hell dimension by using a magic golden statue of Diana. Then she had a kid, and decided to conquer Manhattan to create a new realm for her daughter to grow up in. How can you not love her?

Circe is best girl though, she deserves to be in everything.

I like Circe because she reminds me of Hellboy's Hecate.

This. /d/ is for dickgirl containment. /trash/ is for furries.

The Greek Gods are small time compared to New Gods.

Gods, aliens, stories brought to life. It's all the same in this case. Like the New Gods.

If you're thinking of this, then it was the New 52, where the wizard was

Ironically...they could probably just use Hecate.
She's a greek god.

That's just it.

The WW interpretations of the Amazons and Greek Gods are even further from the myths than the Thor interpretations of the Norse Gods. Mythological Amazons were on-side with Ares and a number of them were his wives and daughters, for a start.
