Is Netflix saving western animation?

>Western animation needs to imitate anime to be good
This is just common sense

Netflix sure did crack the cute animated boys formula for getting tumblr's attention.

They're following Korra's example, yes

and following korra's exemple is a GOOD thing???

>getting 8 new anime series greenlit out of nowhere
which shows?

I only remember talks Devilman and Saint Seiya. Seems like they are seriously going for fujobucks.

I don't know what in the tits this website is but it's all I could find. deadline.com/2017/08/netflix-anime-programming-slate-series-godzilla-movie-teaser-1202140645/

Devilman vs 009 was already up on Netflix so it makes some sense. Plus that movie was awesome.

It's not that they are saving western animation, it's that they've realized that like 95% of the animation that Japan currently produces is unpalatable to the west (because Japan makes things for their own markets, and their market prefers vastly different things than the west does), but if you fund the stuff you want to get made, it will get made. So, Netflix is throwing piles of money at Japanese animation studios so they can make more things that western audiences want to see, which they would not otherwise make because they need to cater to the tastes of their domestic market to stay afloat most of the time.

Is the Voltron show good even if you're a non-fan?

Baki anime?
Ok, they picked my interest. They should do it over the top, like manga, because previous adaptation, was pretty bland.

Castlevania and Voltron are not anime

>Godzilla animated film
Oh fucking awes-
>3d animated
Fuck

A non-fan of what? The old show? I've never seen the old one, but I've thoroughly enjoyed the new show. They could not be more detached from each other. The old show doesn't even have any cameros or references made to it.
The 3d machines can feel weird, but you get used to them, and there's a lot of traditionally animated fight scenes that are surprisingly good.

Yes. I don't care if you like or dislike Korra, but it helped bring about this new wave of animation

You mean the new Netflix one? Yeah it's legitimately entertaining. It doesn't matter if you've seen the original or not. It's a robot punching shit with good characters and scifi -ish plots.

One of the best shows. Sup Forums will hate it in about 6 months

Yaoi fangirls constantly jerking off to the show counteracts any acts of hipsterdom.

Fuck Netflix for seperating so many anime in two seasons though months apart. It's all Steven Universe's fault. There's no reason they had to do that for Little Witch Academia and Voltron.

Not really, no. It's kinda bland with weak characterization. It disappointingly aimed at younger viewers who wouldn't notice all the problems with the storytelling.

It's like a combination of the 1970s and 80s, in other words. We had a lot of Franco-Japanese collaborations and the majority of Western action shows were animated by Japanese studios.

Did you like Korra? Then you'll probably like Voltron since it's better

But anime is no longer good, it is full of moe shit and poorly designed harem anime because boobies are more important than plot or action.

>Animated by the Studio behind the Jojo openings
>Written by Gen Urobuchi

there are around 3 undeniably good shows per season. If you consider that an average season has 30-some shows that's a horrible rate. But over the long term that's still 12+ good shows per year which is a hell of a lot better than western animation by a long shot.

How about you actually look at what's airing instead of looking at the front page of Sup Forums. Anime has had seasonal moe and shitty harems for decades. Good shows still air, they just hardly get discussed because there's not enough shitposting fuel to keep them relevant to the mouthbreathers.

Fujos aren't going to accept cg animation.

Saint Seiya is safe from Tumblr for now, thank god.

Yep. Anyone who isn't a fanboy of western animation knows Anime > Western Animation.

I didn't like it. It's generic and safe.

bring back trollhunters and then we can talk

It also seems to be easier to determine which shows are the good ones. Usually by the third week of a given anime season, there are only three or four shows anyone's talking about. The rest fade into background noise as people drop them.

In what way?

No, they talk about shitty moe ones all the time. I can't tell the difference between the character designs anymore.

>Re:Creators is still being talked about after two months despite the fact even its fans hate it.
Good joke.

That's just because of the waifus and fuckbois.

>not Sanizgen

One can only hope.

I never seen Voltron show before.

This one could be better, it has some serious characterization issues and weak action, but it's still entertaining.

It's decent but it's probably because there really aren't many decent action cartoons around these days. Still worth a watch though.

You should understand that the fandom is just gender inverted bronies on a smaller scale though. Adult women making fetish porn and taking over a show meant for young boys.

>Saint Seiya is safe from Tumblr for now, thank god.

I browsed the tag once, it seems pretty active. Just most of the posters are Spanish speakers.

This has nothing to do with quality though. Lots of good shows sell like shit and only muster little discussion, while horrible trash has neverending bitching.

Basically it's a crapshoot.
