Wooooooooow. I guess it's official now. Sam Wilson is the one and only Captain America now. I didn't believe it at first but Spencer has gone to great lengths to show me that I am wrong. I can't wait to read more about the Adevtures of Sam Wilson as Captain America in Marvel's Legacy relaunch. Good thing his Mexican sidekick doesn't have to worry about his mentor wanting his mantle back haha. That would be awkward.

another captain america made by the red skull...
lol political commentary
>spends several events saying falcon is cap. >have him go back to falcon
really makes you think
It must suck to be Joaquin Torres. Not only is Sam taking back his name, but he has a new main sidekick named
Rayshaun for his new book.
>it's another person who doesn't read comics complaining about one page they saw thread
I think the worst part of Secret Empire is just how much they tried to convince us of the power of the "mantle" of captain america, regardless of who was wearing it. Sam had never done anything to earn the unshakable awe and goodwill that people had that inspired them to go and kick ass. Hell, considering the severe hero worship that everyone had for him it almost seemed like anyone could put on the shield and pick up the uniform to have instant respect.
Also how demoralized must Thor be that now there are at least 3 people that can pick up the hammer instead of him.
Hey man, characterfags do read comics, they just get triggered by, well, anything.
>one page
You're adorable.
>Rayshaun
>tried to firebomb a bank and kill people with no remorse
> Never punished
>gets promoted to Patriot
Thor got fucked over hard bubble SE. As did Frank Castle.
>*record scratch*
>"Yep that's me, and this is my Big moment in Secret Empire"
>Also how demoralized must Thor be that now there are at least 3 people that can pick up the hammer instead of him.
Thor's situation is a perpetual cycle of editorially mandated, forced self-loathing for no reason.
>Thor isn't worthy anymore? Ok. Why is he not worthy? Because he doesn't feel like it? Why? Because he's not worthy. Ok.
It's like if Superman chose to stop being Superman, and started calling Lois Lane "Superman" instead, simply because he fought General Zod and decided that all Kryptonians are unworthy to be Superman.
Once Jane dies and he gets the hammer back I wonder how they'll write him being...I guess "confident" enough in gods again to use the hammer, since it was him losing faith in the gods in the first place that made him drop it.
More than likely she'll just inspire him to use the hammer again, but it'd be interesting to see if they do something cool with it.
I wonder why they forget that Thor is also Half Elder God of Earth.
Sam never earned the shield. Bucky did.
Why can't we have Bucky Cap back? He seems to be more inspirational than FalCap.
Bucky Cap was too hood for this world.
I was actually expecting Joaquin to die in Secret Empire and that Marvel would justify Sam going back to being Falcon by having him do it in honour of Joaquin. Then again, there's still the Omega issue.
>You heard captain america people!
Yep, this doesn't feel forced at all.
If he was actually cap you wouldn't need to call him by his full name so that people could recognize him.
They're saving that for when we get Bucky Cap in the MCU
jane becomes new hammer.
>Rayshaun
Jesus Christ
Even funnier is the 'moral' of secret Empire was supposed to be that putting your trust in one person just because he wears a flag is a bad idea. Then they wrap it up by putting the flag on someone else and blindly trusting him.
So is Joaquin going to get a new name or what?
The Moocher perhaps?
How long has Viper been back?
BuckyCap was acceptable. He struggled with the mantle but earned the fuck out of that thing, along with the respect of others.
I've always liked Sam, but he's a piss-poor Captain America, especially considering he's still basically just Falcon with the shield.
Also, if they make figures of the heroes, do you think they make figures of the villians? Like is there a licensed action figure of some mass killer, like Carnage, or the Green Goblin?
2015, the first arc of Spencer's SamCap run.
There have been green goblin figures before, but whether or not they're mass market or just something the Osborn family made for Normie to play with is another question. They did have Thunderbolt figures during the post-Civil War era to promote them bringing out un-registered capes.
Bucky never earned it either. He was a terrorist assassin
>Her strength makes me worthy
Dear god I can see it now...
That metajoke about Marvel's MJ figure was pretty great.
Guess I'll have to read it to see if he has a reunion with his brother.
I think it's a silly concept. Imagine if we made action figures of the 9/11 hijackers? Or our "heroes?"
Like "here's my Captain Sully action figure! Today he's going to take back the cabin of flight 93 from Mohammed Atta and land the plane in the Mississippi River! Also Hamm from Toy Story is a passenger in the back."
Toy soldiers do exist, but no terrorists, no.
>Jane Foster made me Thor
Yes, that sentence does accurately describe you as much as OP
It sucks but it's true.
Well there are soldier action figures but you generally need to get the rights to a person's likeness to make a figure of them. In the comics super heroes don't have trademarks or whatever on their likeness unless they're public figures, so they can cash grab characters like Ms. Marvel all they want.
Rayshaun's origin:
>wtf I love Rage now???
>riots happen
>wtf I love Captain America now???
>Spencer makes a whole arc about Sam becoming the true Captain America
>Sam reverting back the Falcon in a month
I guess everyone at Marvel knew Secret Empire was a huge inevitable shit stain. The aftermath is much worse in my opinion. We're getting Mark Waid on Captain America for a soft reboot on Steve Rodger. Its a limited run but I hope to fucking god Waid doesn't put half as much political shit in it like he does in Champions.
Then after Waids 5 issue release we are getting the man loves to complain about white people, Ta-Nehisi Coates. I really don't know how to feel about this.
Lets hope the rumors about Slott leaving Spiderman after issue 800 is true.
that just reminded me of after civil war. There was that issue with Tony Stark trying to get a back from the dead Clint to be Captain America sand he gets shit on by Patriot and the teen new avenger Hawkeye about how just wearing the suit and throwing the shield doesn't make you Cap.
>Lets hope the rumors about Slott leaving Spiderman after issue 800 is true.
They're not, he says he's not leaving.
>Then after Waids 5 issue release we are getting the man loves to complain about white people, Ta-Nehisi Coates. I really don't know how to feel about this.
He knows his politics, (compare Waid's Champions, where Waid clearly hasn't thought the politics through) he knows his continuity, and Black Panther (I haven't read the Crew, tho) didn't have any politics that I'd particularly call SJW. He didn't even mention reparations, which is his pet issue.
I'm cautiously optimistic. At very least, it'll be a thought provoking trip.
I dropped Black Panther shortly on because it went scorched earth on Wakanda's monarchy. It was also incredibly boring and stiffly written.
>I dropped Black Panther shortly on because it went scorched earth on Wakanda's monarchy.
His biggest political point was "monarchies are undemocratic" which is hardly an SJW idea. Still, if that's what you like about Wakanda, I could understand being upset.
>It was also incredibly boring and stiffly written.
I'd dispute the boring, but it was stiffly written at first, understandable since he was writing comics for the first time.
>His biggest political point was "monarchies are undemocratic" which is hardly an SJW idea.
He had T'Challa let rape camps operate under his watch.
That's even less SJW.
Sounds like he's not qualified to write superhero comics, period.
Why can't we have, I dunno, the real Cap back already instead
>soft reboot
that's not even the real Steve though
We could have had an awesome run with Sam as CA. And then Spencer ruined him and now it's going to be a long time before he ever can become Captain America again.
>Different character inherits mantle
>Other characters refer to him by the mantle he inherited like he's actually that character and we'll fucking buy that
O i am laffin
Maybe if they looked virtually identical.
We all know he will be El Halcón!
Is Redwing still alive? I'm surprised he didn't appear in Secret Empire, would have been good if the bird were the one to save the event.
Kek
>SJW
T'Challa might be black, but he's still a man
Does anyone care about Sam Wilson?
Sad part is that I can actually see this happening.
Basically, Spencer wanted to use Secret Empire to make Sam the default Cap.
Problem was, he was so heavy-handed and crass in the way he did it, him taking the mantle would have caused a huge backlash from already pissed comic readers.
Its actually pretty hilarious; Spencer was defeated by his own hubris.
> Chthon possesses Wanda
> No angry clash between Gaea's son and Chthon.
> Odinson knows Chthon is raping Wanda and Vision and spinelessly does nothing.
Not only were Spencer (and Waid) ignorant, they made Odinson look like a total shit.
The only thing I like about FalCap is his fantastic costume.
Spencer was his own biggest enemy. It's actually amazing. I do enjoy seeing his autistic screeching about DC. Like that one time he said there books aren't diverse enough and someone called him out on it. He then told them that they had no life.
It didn't help that the Sam Wilson book sold terribly. Less than Fantastic Four even (which according to Brevoort is cancellation numbers).
Joaquin was fucking creepy looking anyway. They shouldn't have done that to his eyes.
There are a few things I don't quite get:
1) How did Hydra cap send Thor off into another dimension?
2) Why did Odinson stick with the Hydra avengers?
3) How does Hydra Cap know Chthon?
>Cosmic cube probably
>He thinks because Cap could lift the hammer, he was right.
>Who fucking knows
>Odinson
Fucking stop.
Because Foster is called Thor we kind of have to call him Odinson to avoid confusion.
No you don't. It's Whor and Thor.
Jane Foster is her name.
As part of the Nazi Loli Cosmic Cube fucking with reality, she created a new Madam Hydra who raised Steve Rogers after kidnapping him from his mom to raise him as part of Hydra.
Nu Madam Hydra was a sorceress who worshipped Chthon and from that relationship, she was able to get Chthon to possess Wanda and banish Whor.
As for Thor, he switched sides when he saw Cap lift his hammer and because his self-esteem was so fucking bad due to Aaron's hack writing, that he was desperate for Cap's love and approval.
Black Panther and the crew is the most sjw book marvel has ever published. Coates somehow turned a vibrant character like Storm into petty racist by using terms like mayonnaise shops.
Main Black Panther title isn't anywhere near as bad but definitely has it's moments(by having T'challa call thunderball "beautiful' and implying the only reason he's a criminal is because of white people) but i think the real crime is that's just a boring book with bad pacing.
Viper? Also Viper's 100% in the right here. How the fuck are they claiming he's a villain. Or wait Marvel is filled with looter socialists.
Is there any way this all doesn't end really, really badly for Marvel, and for the comic book industry as a whole? This all feels like a death spiral.
The most amazing thing about Secret Empire is how, in 10 issues and multiple crossover comics, Spencer failed to explain much of anything...other than drone a ponderous narration endlessly.
>Other characters refer to him by the mantle he inherited like he's actually that character and we'll fucking buy that
hey it worked for fake AI tony stark replacing tony stark didn't it
Nah.
In a rare case of marvel editorial doing something good they are crushing his plans to make sam cap again.
Their whole policy of pushing legacy heroes and trashing classic heroes can be traced back to Disassembled in 2004. Bendis is the true architect of Marvel's shitty state, as he created their diversity strategy.
Ike got rid of the editors, giving Brevoort, Alonso, Amanat, and Bendis, near dictatorial power. There's no one to challenge or correct idiot writers, or protect continuity.
The mostly female assistant editors, who have become the favourite target of conservative YouTubers, in fact have no power at all.
They were on board with Spencer's plan until the backlash and the fact Spencer made it so fucking obvious what he was doing that readers smoked him out instantly.
Aaron's trashing of Thor to replace him with FemThor was far more cunningly implemented which is why it has (unfortunately) stuck.
THE NEW CAPTAIN AMERICA, LADIES & GENTLEMEN!
AXIS already ruined Sam's chances of being a good legacy to Cap.
Y'know, as ideology-driven super-villains go, Nazis and commies are really getting, oh shall we say, a bit long in the tooth? And creating an Islamic terrorist baddie might get you truck-bombed. So that certainly won't do.
I would love, fucking LOVE to see a full on Objectivist super-villain:
en.wikipedia.org
A Rand-quoting, corporate toady, globalization - touting, scamming, scheming, lying-ass mofo who has every word of The Virtue of Selfishness committed to memory. Even better if there were a group of them - imagine an Objectivist version of Hydra. They would have their hands in everything from white-collar crimes like extortion and embezzlement nuclear arms proliferation, because putting limits on trade and stifling the wannabe elite is just Communism, don'tchaknow.
Oohhh screencaps anyone?
Didn't Chris extend his Marvel contract though? Cap ain't going down in Infinity War now.
>Aaron's trashing of Thor to replace him with FemThor was far more cunningly implemented which is why it has (unfortunately) stuck.
I'm convinced Whor only sells because of the art. And even then the sales numbers are just Marvel cooking the books as needed. Nothing about her stint as a hero has been remarkable in any way. The only time Whor has ever been relevant was when she took jabs against the concept of masculinity and against bitter Thor fans.
Can't believe Captain Keikaku fell for this weak shit.
She can talk and constantly keeps Thor in check by complaining about his sexism.
> the MJ collectible
someone belongs in hell for this
>And even then the sales numbers are just Marvel cooking the books as needed.
That's totally believable. I don't know why a company would give away thousands and thousands of book copies just to look like they're doing well for people who actually bother to look at sell numbers.
>for people who actually bother to look at sell numbers
Investors and mainly those who pay for advertisement space?
was the chthon thing explained in the main event? i dont remember it
>BuckyCap was acceptable. He struggled with the mantle but earned the fuck out of that thing, along with the respect of others.
He didn't earn anything. He was given respect because he was Bucky. That was even a plot point during that run.
Nah, he will be deported, and once he's in Mexico, some drug cartel will kill him and use his bones as drug enhancers or something like that.
One thing I noticed about SE...
JaneThor pops up in SE#9 without her hammer (she had been sent to a different dimension), but once popping up, she quickly loses her power and is literally flown out of the area because she became frail dying of cancer jane -- but in SE#10, when Cap gives the hammer back to JaneThor, Jane is in her Thor form.
I mean, I get that SE is so bad that it cares not about continuity, but still...
If I wanted to hear the conspiracy theories of an unstable shut in I'd go to Sup Forums.
Most cape writers are hacks. And when they aren't, they write stories they clearly have no talent for
Wait, he can't lift the hammer because he lost faith in the gods? What the fuck.
