Dumbing of age. Doa

Tonight's strip does two things Willis seems to excel at. Switching away before resolution, and introducing new snarky characters.

a truly terrible webcomic

thanks patreanon

I honestly don't even care what's going on. It all returns to nothing.

Of all the shit characters he could get he had to choose maladapted.
I hope she'll be a cunt to the mentally ill resident fag at least, and that we get to see more Marcie.

It all comes stabbening down stabbening down stabbening dooo... Oh wait, wrong hack.

>Figger ah can get along with anyone
Really? I know that everyone thinks she's so cool, but she's a mega loner.

>Malaya moved away from Lucy
What a fool.

I hope this starts the trend of Malaya bullying Sal.

Fuck off Willis.

Actually, the right hack. For some reason, Willis apparently has seen (or is at least aware of) NGE and "Komm, Susser Tod".

Also, the password tonight is "lived". Last night's password was "truce", and the night before was "production". It should be noted that "truce" was not present in the strip itself.

Malaya is an interesting character.

Willis introduced her in Shortpacked! with the intention of making a character who looked down on nerds and acted like a jerk, but in a more realistic way than other characters. Readers who treated her as a hate sink ended up revealing more about themselves than they cared to admit, especially when the hate persisted even after Willis explicitly pointed out that the audience wasn't meant to hate her. She had flaws, sure, but the main characters did FAR worse things and weren't hated nearly as much simply because they acted "nicer". It was an interesting way for Willis to use his fans' own preconceptions against them, and it was one of the last times he really seemed to be taking risks with his work.

In DoA, Malaya has barely appeared, and what little we've seen of her reduces her down to "the girl who annoys people". Many characters in DoA require knowledge of their previous incarnations in order for their characters to make sense, but I'm not sure how much that holds true for Malaya here. If the fallout from Malaya moving in is that she becomes a giant, irritating pain in Sal's ass, then Willis will have fallen into the same trap that he himself set up for his readers. I'm not sure if Willis realizes what he's doing here, or even he even cares, but it's not a good look for him.

Let's see how this goes.

Oh man, just imagine think. There's the distinct possibility now of getting scenes where Malaya, Sal, Carla and Roz are all together at once.

>sal can't retaliate because she'll make Marcie mad and she's her only friend
>malaya perfectly knows this and makes sure to never look bad in Marcie's eyes to keep her strategic advantage
Now that's some next level evil.

I honestly can't see how I didn't predict this. Of COURSE Malaya would want to get away from Lucy so badly that she'd move to a different dorm.

>see more Marcie
Just remember that more appearances means more opportunities to ruin.

called it

Yeah, DoA has to be far shittier and offensive than this for me to get off on hating it.

I guess I should have seen this coming, what with "what's the worst that can happen?!" cliche and all. Yet I didn't, thinking Willis was gonna throw us some new character or something.

Its like reading a book where every single character major and minor all have functional autism. Some obvisually worse than others, but all socially disabled individuals.

How the fuck would somebody justify every saying the words these characters say out loud

>Really? I know that everyone thinks she's so cool, but she's a mega loner.
She argued with Sarah and Amber about how everyone hates people and that it doesn't make them special. But she definitely hates people too. Not sure why she thinks meeting a new person would be all right.

The only reasonable thing in this strip is that Billie and Sal acknowledge that their room is essentially a glorified closet.

>The only reasonable thing in this strip is that Billie and Sal acknowledge that their room is essentially a glorified closet.
Y'know, when you really think about it, the cast of DOA is far too dysfunctional to be alive. It's a miracle they haven't killed themselves or each other yet.

In which Billie has to move to the dorm on the other side of the parking lot, and will be Gone Forever and Ever.

Is Malaya gonna start fucking Carla like she did in Shortpacked?

Malaya is in a relationship with Marcie, so no.

She is not. Marcie is hoping for one but hasn't actually told Malaya she wants one and they're in this weird vague friend space.

Marcie isn't even sure if Malaya likes girls, and with "sexualities carrying over" that might not be the case because Malaya wasn't really into women, she was into dudes and a robot (she's already had a pin-up fucking a dude in DoA).

...

>in which Billie continues sleeping with her girlfriend and nothing changes

I wonder if any of the characters realize that there's no curfew in the dorms. And because the dorm is co-ed, there aren't going to be any restrictions on having guests. Billie can dump a few of her things in her new room, and then proceed to go back to living with Ruth.

If there's one thing painfully obvious in this webcomic, it's that Willis hates doing even the bare minimum of research. Bear in mind that he dropped out of college after 3-4 months.

A truly tragic moment, especially when juxtaposed with the psycho bitch who knifed a would-be murderer-rapist. Having to move a few hundred feet away is tearing this country apart.

...

The only thing he puts effort into is going to campus and tracing images of locations.

I'd rather lose accuracy of the backgrounds if it meant him giving a crap about his line art and coloring.

I think Willis is going to avoid putting Carla into a relationship with anyone.

If anyone wants to draw Carla fingering Malaya while looking incredibly bored, that would be interesting.

I'd rather have ANYTHING than those "bonus" strips of that sculpture. You know the one.

>If anyone wants to draw Carla fingering Malaya while looking incredibly bored, that would be interesting.
This would be great!

As it turns out, posting speed is slow in the early hours of the morning, who knew. The fact that the thread didn't die in the almost 5 hours between posts should give that away.

Hush now, let necroanon have his little moment.

Most dorms do have curfews, in that non-residents aren't allowed to stay overnight - at least not allowed to stay overnight consecutively.

I meant curfews for the residents.

Where I went to college, there was a midnight limit for male guests in my female-only dorm.

But the co-ed dorms had no limit.

The only thing that caught their attention is if someone has the same guest overnight for more than 3 nights in a row. Then they worry about squatters like Becky.

Willis hasn't given us any information about the security in the dorm, so it's hard to say.

I know Amber said recently that non-students weren't allowed after a certain point, but like... it's not going to stop them from opening the door if Dorothy was able to get in without using a key.

Front-desk security can only do so much.

If it was anything like my dorm they'd just get someone to open an exit only door for them that wasn't visible from the front desk.

Never read this comic before but wew that girl with he red jacket in the last panel is doing things to my dick. Is the comic good? Is there a lot of porn of this girl?

Small amount of porn is available. Very small.

This comic is horrible. It's fun to make fun of, but sometimes, it's boring.

Also, the girl you like is hardly in it so far. Should be more if you stick around now that she's around the main cast.

Her name is Malaya. Please, please, please use AdBlock if you go to the site. This guy doesn't deserve a single penny.

That non-students line was because Ryan didn't show up in their search for him on campus. Billie is still a student at IU so that wouldn't apply to her.

Also Dorothy and Walky have slept over with each other with zero fanfare or alerting residence people. So it should be totally fine.

If this comic was good Willis would've set up those expectations for her to have to deal with now. But because it's bad, she'll probably just start encountering issues that never came up at all before.

>This comic is horrible. It's fun to make fun of
Then least I can stick around then and have a few good laughs with some anons on Sup Forums and thanks for the sauces too.

Logically the issue should be that at this point everyone knows that Billie shouldn't be there. Dorothy and Walky live on the same floor while Becky was intentionally hidden from Ruth.

I think even Billie is pointing out that it's only the other side of the parking lot, and now her relationship with Ruth has no conflict of interests, but Ruth's still looking for reasons to angst about it.
