When Ben Hurst created SatAm Sonic, he modeled the show based on the Freedom vs Tyranny aesop. SatAM Robotnik's the way he is because he's the living manifestation of tyranny, which makes him a bad character admittedly, but not a bad symbol, given the nature of the show. Ironically, this makes SatAM Sonic geared towards a more younger audience than AOSTH in a way, given how the latter's more inspired by Tex Avery or Looney Toons.
So if SatAM Robotnik's a one dimension villain that represents all that is evil, and AOSTH's Robotnik's the world's biggest joke (and simultaneously animation's sexiest fat man), where does BOOM Eggman fit in?
Still like AOSTH's but friendlier, down-to-earth, and sympathetic.
Mason Moore
Still a chronic backstabber. He's closer to a troll than being genuinely friendly.
Jaxson Garcia
Boom's Eggman is literally Egotism and Selfishness.
For all intents and purposes, his "Enemies" are his friends, his "Battles" an attempt and one-upsmanship and his plans for domination are to make a themepark themed around himself and charge people tons of money.
Blake Baker
>When Ben Hurst created SatAm Sonic Gonna stop you right there.
Ben Hurst was not a director, a producer, a character designer, a conceptual writer, or even a major element in the pre-production and planning phases of the show. He was a minor writer among the regulars who submitted scripts for DiC who took over major writing duties for season 2 and pitched season 3 as well as other continuations to various parties. He wrote like two episodes for season 1. He wasn't even involved with the pilot.
You may as well say "When Grant Morrison created Batman..."
Luke Reed
I stand corrected at that part then.
Andrew Edwards
Hurst is pretty much the same as Penders: a writer who joined early, tried to make his contributions a bit "deeper" without really understanding what that means, pushed for more material with him at the helm unsuccessfully, and displaced his contemporaries in public consciousness because he interacted with fans and kids are too fucking stupid to check the credits.
It's just an internet thing, stuff gets taken at face value and misinformation spreads.
Adrian Bailey
>Still shitting on other people' work don't you have a comic to write, Kenny boy?
Nathan Campbell
>Correcting the mistaken notion that one of the many writers was part of the show's conceptualization is "shitting on their work." >Implying any of this information is incorrect or reflects poorly on Hurst. >Implying Penders would point out the exact same kind of misinformation he benefits from, having been a backup writer who is somehow confused for the comic's 13-year lead writer.
Were you born this stupid or did it take a concentrated effort?
Christian Ward
>he modeled the show based on the Freedom vs Tyranny aesop (citation required)
Michael Allen
Ken's too busy suing IDW.
Ryan Ramirez
Is he really? Why
Ian Gomez
It's more vague threats.
IDW has reprinted Star Trek comics DC sold them the rights to. Ken was one of the people who worked on those and his contract entitled him to royalties...from DC. He's only trying to cause a stir about it now and not when it happened because this is really about them getting Sonic.
Ayden Foster
Boom eggman is the crux of the show, never have i seen a character take so well to the role of protagonist and antagonist at the same time. Boom works so will in that although you often want eggman to suceed you are never disapointed when he fails. It also helps that the show is comepletly unformulic and doesn't feel the need to force eggman into the villain role every episode. Infact im pretty sure there are more episodes that focus on him than sonic.
Ian Bailey
I don't care bozo

Wait, Charmy's a girl?
Jaxson Rogers
Got an official source on this?
David Thompson
I think I like the personality swap more than the original....maybe.
Brayden Lewis
How has he not been declared a vexatious litigant by this point?
Chase Ramirez
I wanna suck dem big fat bat tats.
Jose Long
Feminine penis user, or stinger I dont know. Mods always gotta be deleting my smut, its like someone is always pissing in my cheerios, but you cant tell them because your the one who got up from your seat.
Lincoln Flores
No he's a boy, that's the joke
Christopher Peterson
I hope the freedom fighters come back in IDW Sonic.
Easton Cook
the video game robotnik literally enslaves creatures of the forest into robot slaves and pollutes the planet Mobius (Oil Ocean Zone). Robotnik burns forests down (first level in sonic 3). he decieves people like knuckles.
chaos emeralds, rings of power
SatAm sonic leaves IEDs around robotropolis
"freedom fighters" are called terrorists by authoritarians
toning down the villains is another example of dumbing down the audience. tv networds and the entertainment industry don't want anything to be subversive, they want idiocracy. it's one of the reasons x-men has been shat on and all but destroyed entirely.
liberal identity politics without leftist class consciousness divides peoples, so of course BS like gay iceman, black domino and nuPPG are going to be sold because they help manufacture a low common denominator that doesn't demand any good writing or include context of older characters with diversity that already existed
Thomas Sanchez
It helps that Mike Pollock's been accustomed to being Eggman that he makes it work with his delivery.
Bentley Rogers
>nuSally costume on Rouge instead of classic Sally costume
Damn it.
Colton Martin
That would be even more unfair to Sally.
Gabriel Russell
The man's own Twitter? Shortly after IDW was announced as the new licensee, he started raising a stink about how they didn't pay him for the Star Trek reprints.
Asher Flores
Because he's technically only filed one superfluous lawsuit so far.
Camden Myers
I wonder when the IDW comics will start coming out?
Matthew Carter
The race is one of the funnier ones in that in the context of the rules, he really did nothing wrong except be overconfident.
Jaxson Taylor
All we know is that it's starting in 2018. First bit of info will come next month on the 8th
Dylan Watson
>you will never see this storyline resolved.
has the story people ever told us how it would have ended?
it would be right to do it at this point, like the story of half life 3
Jackson Adams
If you count a retcon/reboot a resolve, sorta.
Ryder Gray
That storyline was resolved though. She was going to shoot Sonic, Silver stopped her. There was plenty of bullshit ways for her to be cured before the reboot.
Ryder Rogers
Ian's more interested in keeping all future doors open.
You know, even though plenty of other writers tell readers what they were planning all the time. He just doesn't want to be assed, quite frankly.
Gavin Rogers
How disappointing for someone with that much talent, but I suppose you made your choices too long ago to sanely look back now, eh?
Brayden Allen
CWC can help.why not just ask him in his serious YouTube account.
Camden Sullivan
>it would be right to do it at this point, like the story of half life 3
Whats going on with Half-life?
Logan Anderson
Some say Amy's a lot scarier here than the original, and the original kinda scares them already.
Kevin Myers
Question, Sup Forums. What's up with this "Eggman's daughter" I keep hearing about? I know it's something fan made, but from what I've seen, it's supposed to be pretty popular.
Can someone fill a relative newfag in?
Colton Nguyen
A boss in Sonic Mania that has Eggman upside down can be seen as a person with big hair instead. It was interpreted as Eggman's niece, and since it was fanon that wasn't just smut or edgy bullshit, it caught on quickly.
Nathan Hernandez
Metal Tails looks kind of bland and goofy. I think it's the little hair spikes on his forehead- they don't look robotic, it's just hair.
Plus, c'mon, we all know what the real Tails copy is.
Isaiah Flores
it's never being made, so the dude who wrote the story released it.
Wyatt Wilson
I hope they don't. It's time to move on from them.
Blake Rodriguez
delet
Asher Davis
I hope they appear again, just not as "Freedom Fighters."
Bunnie, Antoine, Nicole, etc make for interesting characters, but nobody wants to actually put in the work to make them major characters. Allowing them to be side characters who pop up with the same relative frequency as OCs and the Chaotix is fine, especially if they aren't glued to each other by the hip anymore.
Lost Hedgehog Tales. Ian plans to release that when he can
Landon Murphy
He's been saying that forever though.
Oliver Rodriguez
I was listening to a podcast he guest appeared on when he said that a few weeks ago and it sounded like some legal shit is keeping him from releasing it at the moment from the way he phrased it
Owen Long
I want to fuck Julian Robotnik
Nathaniel Fisher
only female bees have stingers
Luke Jones
He said like a year ago that it was in indefinite hiatus. The first part was fucking terribly written and barely revealed anything besides.
Cameron Butler
Nice try, watch this:
>SatAM is clearly socialist and communist propaganda. The show is about Freedom Fighters who rebl against a Eastern european themed dictator with minor monarchy overtones. Robotnik is all about industry and science while to freedom fighters they you science and industry only to advance the goal of their guerilla tactics. Even in the lore of the show Robotnik replaced an old and inefficient government with a new more productive one. When a former disscenter turns it's not of his own volition but being magically turned into a robot, thus defining robotnik's side as mindless enslavement and anyone who disagrees with you is an enemy.
>The socialist paradise comes from that the freedom fighters pretend to share everything but ultimately follow the former royal complicitly. There is no arguments or discourse. Only fighting and trying to kill anyone that opposes them.
Nicholas Kelly
Yeah but really his drawing would have been through Mattel if it was official.
Owen Stewart
Take this wait a grain of salt but I appreciate the bullshit Penders throws from his monkey cage.
It's no secret that Archie is terrible and it's suspicious that alot of talent work for Archie and then quit the entire industry. Artists always get screwed in general and many companies have poisoness work environments.
The industry needs to recognize that artists and writers aren't a pair of severed hands flopping around on Wacom tablets and keyboards, that they have rights and deserve more than a pink slip when they ask for health insurance or a pay raise.
These are things industry talent are only going to get if they stand up and start fighting back, as in reading contracts and taking charge of their careers. That means lawyers, lawsuits, and making sure companies don't pull crap like they do.
Gabriel Sanchez
I wonder what it was like before Mobotropolis was turned into robotropolis.
Caleb Rivera
That sounds like fun.
Jeremiah Thompson
Yet that's still above what manga studios give, and they're arguably doing better than comic studios. That just shows how fucked up all of this is.
Carson Brooks
Dude, Penders spent a decade turning a blind eye to all that shit, never once acted upon their actual wrongdoings (he got sued by them if you'll recall), and never said anything that wasn't public knowledge already shared by former Archie staff.
His claims against IDW are fucking nonsense because it's a bunch of cases of the original companies (DC in the case of Star Trek) exploiting loopholes to make money while terminating the conditions of the original contract.
He does NOTHING for creators' rights. He has never given any additional insight into Archie and he has helped absolutely no one but himself. You're falling for his empty gestures if you think what he does is in any way what the industry needs in order to fix its problems.
Jacob Hernandez
My headcanon sez Eggman designed Metal Sonic with a quirk of not being able to fly unless it has Doll Tails on him.
Anthony Myers
Kinda reminds me of Medaka from Medaka Box.
Dylan Taylor
Would anyone watch a show with characters based on this character swaps?
Daniel Turner
I would.
Christopher Garcia
Tails doll was in the comic too. He was a giant in-joke on creepypastas.
Samuel Bailey
Wasn't he something like a "Chaos-eqeued" entity as well hiding in a doll?
Jack Davis
Pink stomach Amy is canon though, she wears a 2 piece swimsuit in Sonic X
Isaiah Stewart
That is secondary canon. Also I'm pretty sure she could also fly in Sonic X.
Eli Young
This would be fine. The original Freedom Fighters were based the animal friends from the games, so just draw them to look more like the animal friends and have them be incedentals.
Leo Hernandez
>Mobius Stopped reading right there. I'd rather hear thr nutter from /vr/ talking about the Unified Fantasy Zone Setting than here people try to pretend that Mobius is something other than a comic book invention.
Bentley Brown
IDW shall pay for their sins!
David Rivera
Well technically it was a Sega of America invention back when they were given carte blanche to write a Sonic backstory for American audiences. Just like the name Robotnik. Sega fully intended each region to have it's own canon before video games started becoming more story-centric and cinematic.
Brandon Ward
Which is funny, seeing as the American story is what became the basis if thr Fleetway comic and SATAM became the focus from America.
Jack Hernandez
Imagine what the other Combaticons were feeling through the Gestalt Bond when this happened.
Nolan Turner
I don't think they need to be further streamlined: they fit the aesthetics more than Honey does at this point.
Evan Parker
Girly girl leader Sally and cool confident stalker Amy. I don't know what to think.
Christian Cook
Sonic needs no leader, king, master, chef, boss or any other superior.
Andrew Robinson
Of course not. Sally's more of a leader of the Freedom Fighters, and Sonic's the one who assist them from time to time IIRC.
