dbz
I thought only Spaniards and Latin Americans had that problem.
Insektors has a British dub and an American dub.
There were 3 different English dubs of DBZ all being made concurrently. It was confusing as hell because you might catch a rerun and the dialog and voices would be different than that same episode you saw on a different channel a week earlier.
Is this movie as bad as the trailer made it look?
>bad cgi
>creator of the fairly odd parents
>pop culture references
>inserting all those celebrity names in the end
Basically it's like this. Saban and Funimation work together to produce an English dub of DBZ. The dubbing is done up in Canada.
Saban pulls out leaving Funimation the only one producing the series. They can't afford to pay the crew in Canada so they switch to an inhouse dub in Texas.
Someone else picks up the rights for the series in Canada but instead of distributing the Funimation dub the choose to continue the Canadian dub because it was cheaper.
>weissman brothers
This character had his VA replaced when the show aired in the US.
It was godawful
I was at my brother's house once and he had it on for his kids (ranging from like two to seven)
After trying to ignore it, I ended up making a comment about how shitty it was, and he immediately fires back with "it's just a kid's movie"
Meanwhile his kids aren't even paying attention or are visibly not enjoying it
Supposedly, there are several animes hat were given full-on comedy dubs when brought to America. One hat comes to mind is Shin-Chan.
To be fair, apparently even Butch hates the movie.
"They hired me to fix it. It could not be fixed."
I remember that. There was a kiddyfied version that aired on Fox Kids LATAM and a more raunchy one on Adult Swim.
This is the UK version of Clifford the Big Red Dog.
>I thought only Spaniards and Latin Americans had that problem.
The pt-br dub was very close to the original lines, all things considered, most of the attacks remained with the jap names (aside from a handful of minor changes).
Now the portugal dub is a goddamn legend. Didn't frieza even talk to the audience at some point in that dub?
Is talking about other countries dubbing the same show multiple times in their language OK? Because I have some Italian examples.
>After Yugo's voice actor was replaced in the dub of Wakfu Season 2, Season 1 was redubbed with the new voice. The dub aired only on CN Italy, Netflix haves only the first version
>The Magic School Bus was redubbed in 2015. Janet and Ralphie kept the same voices as in the old version while everyone else was replaced, and it sounds odd as hell
>Season 1 of Space Goofs was redubbed some years ago. The problem is that the redub is more literal and faithful than the old version (which changed the characters names and readapted dialogue) and also Season 2 wasn't redubbed, so when they air both seasons back to back suddendly everyone haves a different voice AND name
A bunch of American cartoons for infants are redubbed for UK audiences for some reason, like Backyardiagans, or even Blues Clues which had a whole new live action owner for Blue.
There's an alternate dub of Super going on right now, done at Bang Zoom in LA for the Toonami Asia and Africa market, because for whatever reason Funimation can't sell it there.
it's not Sup Forums but every Ape Escape game that got released in America and the UK had separate dubs for both regions.
And vice versa.
The Where's Waldo cartoon had Waldo's name changed to Wally for UK airings.
cause the book is originally named Where's Wally in the UK, but was changed to Waldo for the US releases
US airings of Chop Socky Chooks replaced Chuckie Chan's voice because the original was too racist.
THIS SOUNDS PORNY
It's still the same dub with the same actors, they just had two versions of lines mentioning Waldo/Wally by name recorded.
Odlaw's name doesn't change in any "Wally" merchandise, which is pretty silly.
Super Milk-chan even had two different English dubs produced by the same company because they were afraid the straight dub would be too dry for western audiences, so they recorded a second dub with a more Funimation Shinchan-esque script. Both were included on the same DVD. Hilariously, Adult Swim licensed the show and opted to play the regular dub for god-only-knows what reason.
The really infamous one.
I remember watching Tom & Jerry on CN and Boomerang and the maid voice sounded like a recent, higher quality recording, probably less stereotypical in comparison.
I have also heard she was reanimated as white in some airings, any evidence of this?

Ghost Stories had a different English dub that was licensed to other countries. It was called Ghosts at School and it was more faithful to the original japanese version.
4Kids' entire catalog
I couldn't find a full episode of the censored version, but I found a screenshot of it though.
Apparently, she was replaced by a thin white teenager.
Found the full version of the episode where the screenshot came from

It was weird as hell watching the GT movie dub by the same team, they had the Funimation script for that one but none of the others so suddenly you had these actors actually sounding halfway human after twelve movies of COME MAGIC CLOUD
Urusei Yatsura had a short lived comedy dub in the UK with Anna Friel as Lum. Only of the TV series though, not the films which had American dubs.
that dub was done by the BBC of all people, and also had Matt Lucas in it youtube.com
