I find this one overall an interesting experiment from a sales perspective. They were clearly treating it (in terms of survivability) like they do with the other kids books, but having it set in the DCU rather than completely separate did keep the numbers higher than wholly known brands like Scooby Doo.
What were the overall trade numbers for very first volume?
They did great, it was a massive success on 2014. I guess you could say the kids from Gotham Academy are the precursors to the current kids comic division on DC

Negro, that's not the margin we're using in a thread about monthly sales. First printing sold around 235k, which is the number we have for Metal. Not that this was about dock measuring of that kind. Infinite Crisis probably had a lot of reprints as well and you certainly didn't count that.

DC isn't Marvel, the number 1s aren't inflated. This will settle around 25k which are great numbers for d list character.
Consider Metal a better success if you want, it certainly made more money and I'm not convinced Rebirth was an event anyway. Just saying ultimately that Johns issue sold better. And if we're being honest I don't see Metal getting enough reprints to catch it.

Yeah he's wrong, but you are kidding yourself if you think they do that regularly when it's a relatively low amount titles they've launched recently that have had that sort of retailer incentive contract attached to their launch (can only remember Harley, Batman, JL, Super Sons). And it's not the same as Marvel's incentive program.

I think Marvel seriously damaged the X-Men franchise, especially during the terrigen mist/Inhuman Push period, and it will take more than a half assed effort for it to recover, and I dont know if Marvel has the desire or talent to do it.
