Not true actually. Portugal always rates higher in most sociological studies/ranks that it actually should exactly because quality of life is considered higher for such a poor European country.

Nope. It would just create instability in the area, which is exactly what we don't need. Our relation with spain is one of equals so we would not gain anything with having to deal with 3 or 4 different countries instead of just one. Also, it would only increase the burocratic burden on companies that export to spain, which is Portugal's first export destination.
