Recent Purchases/Shelf thread

Post your shelves or recent purchases.

I just bought Amazing Spider-Man Omnibus Volume 3 from IST on Tuesday, and it's going to get here on Wednesday.

...

I'm waiting on two omnis (Morrison Dp, and New Teen Titans) from IST, and have been since the first. They have been "in transit" from a city about an hour away for the last two days. I believe "in transit" is usps code for "sitting on the dock", or "we fucking lost it."

I'm surprised my omni isn't getting here until Wednesday. I'd assume it'd get here earlier.

These threads are usually pretty popular

>Stern's Spidey
thumbs up, OP

It's a great omni. Definitely glad that I picked it up.

Not sure what to get next

>Usagi Yojimbo omnis
How are those? Got into him a few years ago and want to read the past stuff.

Also, are you a DM, or do you just have all of the 5e books? I know sometimes even the DM wants to play.

Different user, I have it too. I was just rereading the Tarantuala/Will-o-the Wisp story last night. Good shit.

Only small stuff from the LCS this week.
S&S is purely a blind grab so hopefully will be good.

Oh, we can post floppies in these threads? I did not know that.

I asked this in a Hellboy thread but what is the difference between and omnibus and a library edition?

If ya want more action/fantasy with girl heroines give Amethyst a look.
Best DC magic girl besides WonderWoman fight me, Zatanafags
Can get her whole N52 run in a single trade for less than $30 if I remember right.
There's also an Essential collection of her 80s runs, but they're in black&white which kinda kills most obviously very colorful stories.

Just got Deadly Class Deluxe, I'm really happy with it.
I'm going to get Low deluxe next. Still debating if I should get Black Science Deluxe too.
Also I'm really happy that JSA is getting the paperback treatment because the omnibus are way to expensive.

Post anything Sup Forums related or "guys on Sup Forums would probably like this".

I've seen posts of DVDs and Blu-ray. I swear I remember posts of clothes. Figurines, of course.

Keep an eye on the omnis, though.
They either go super rare and expensive, or wastes on store space and super cheap.
I've seen most people on here get omnis of DC One Million cause the price for them became pretty affordable.

Usagi is good, the sagas are missing some of the stories like his origin

I DM and play but its hard to find a decent group where I live.

I'm not really a girl power lover just a huge supergirlfag but it looks neat.

Check out Invincible.

Been curious about Invincible since it is ending, how does it compare to The Walking Dead? I've heard besides TWD it is Kirkman's most loved series by comic fans. I've tried to get into it before but I find the main character to be a boring Peter Parker/Clark Kent clone but I heard it becomes interesting much later on.

Invincible is way better than TWD.

Invincible is good, but you will probably eventually get burned out by it. Kirkman likes to subvert tropes, but I found him following them closely as the series continued.
It starts of as a "Peter Parker" style thing, but drastically changes a little ways in, and to say anything else would be a large spoiler

I'm already aware of the infamous rape panels.

Oh no, it's not that. If you want to know what the early twist is, I will spoiler it below.

Mark's dad is a member of their equivalent of the Avengers/Justice League, and he is pretty much Superman. He tells his son (and the world) that he is a member of a peaceful race of beings who explore the galaxy and look to uplift other races. Mark begins to develop powers, and it is written like a typical teenage super hero book (with him joining a Teen Titans-like team). Then, at around issue 10 or 11, Mark's dad kills the entire Justice League, and tells him that his race are actually conquerors, and that Earth is ready for the invasion. From that point on, the story is mostly about an intergalactic war.

how are the new Star Wars comics? Thinking about getting the trades.

I found myself almost by accident arranging a couple of shelves around the theme "late '90s/early '00s nostalgic takes on superhero franchises."

New X-Men doesn't really fit, because X-Men didn't go full nostalgia until Astonishing X-Men. But it really seems like it was a trend.

I suppose Long Halloween fits there too, but I really don't like it enough to get it.

I think one reason Morrison has lasted so long in cape comics is that he knows when to get ahead of a trend, so JLA went back-to-basics before back-to-basics took over the industry, and then New X-Men was anti-nostalgic at just the right time.

How much were you shaking your hands?

Me latest shit

Me latest pretentious hipster gahbage

Invincible is a lot better than kirkmans other books mainly because it's not restricted at all so it can go balls to the wall.

Do they just make their titles completely random choices?

Everything Together doesn't show anything together at all.
Why would you wear an eskimo outfit to keep the heat away?
There's NO HATS displayed for Pope Hats!

Ordered Locke and Key and some American Vampire.

Trying to work on finishing things I've strted buying.

Dark Horse omnibuses are thick TPs (like 4 trades - think complete collections at Marvel) where library editions are big oversized hardcovers (closer to absolutes at DC - collecting 2 trades worth of material)

...

I wouldn't say that the Showcase being B&W kills anything. The stories are meant to be colorful, yeah, but the penciling and inking on Amethyst is absolutely superb. Ernie Colon was brilliant on those issues.
Admittedly, I have quite a few Showcases that I enjoy greatly, mainly because I doubt that Challengers Of The Unknown or Silver Age Hawkman will ever get omnibus treatment in my lifetime.

idk what any of those are

silver age hawkman already has an omnibus though

nvm got it mixed up with adam strange, but still I wouldn't be surprised if it did

This is one thing I actually really like about Essential Marvel and the Showcases. I feel like reading 70s shit and older in black and white gives me a whole new appreciation for the pencils and ink.

Kirby's Challengers has an omni. I own it.

It's just lines on paper, dude...

I think that's getting a trade reprint soon, but I might have it confused with another Kirby thing

More like LIES on paper!

That book has a title suggesting multiple Pope headpieces, and it doesn't even show on cover a single hat of any kind!
Truly it must be Marville levels of insanity and disappointment.

Dude, are you me? You're one step away from quoting Sgt. Batguano from Dr Strangelove: "...but you're gonna answer to the Coca-Cola company of America!"
I like your style.
Even worse than the zero pope headpieces is the fake name of the author! "Nom de plume" indeed....

my latest order from ist just got here. my camera is shit though

Fun stuff

Saving Gwens life, one issue at a time.

...

...

Where is IST located? that could have alot to do with it...

Unless they have multiple locations, I believe they're in Tennessee

Tennessee I think. It usually takes about a month for me to get my orders if I just use usps. Two weeks if I pay for fedex

remember buying merchandise of her is as, if not more, important than just buying her comic

Dude, wipe the vaseline off the lens after you're done shooting softcore porn of yourself.

Yes he is you, because you're samefagging the hell out of this 'conversation'

I've been waiting to be able to drop 30$+tax on the first conan ThiccPB because I'm a poorfag, those prices are gutting.

I need to get the conan omni #1 for either amazon or tfaw so either way I'll have to drop $30 on it too, unless ist gets more by next month

It's all ugly shit though.

only said it because if theyre based in the SE USA and source books they don't have from nearby vendors, miiiiight have had a bit of a hiccup in the last week or so, business-wise

wait is the first one sold out already?

I believe so for a while. It's been unavailable every time I've checked ist. I can still get it from tfaw but it's twice as expensive

I'm located in New Jersey, which, for mail, shouldn't take 6 days, I think?

And that's kind all.
Only now I started collecting physical stuff.

Also have Spice & Wolf manga and novels collection

Any suggestions?

Amazing Spider-Girl by DeFalco/Frenz

How's the Amazing Spider-Man omnibus by Michelinie and McFarlane?

badass, also recommend checking out the recent Tangled Web omni

the only Tangled Web story I've read is Flowers for Rhino, and I really liked that. Are they of the same quality? Also, how's the Michelinie and Larsen ASM omnibus? Is that just as good?

When I ask are they of the same quality, I mean the other tangled web issues.

they vary but there's a ton of gems
Michelinie is a real good down to earth to writer, kinda throw back ish but added a lot to his supporting cast and the plots are pretty good
also Larsen is one of the best Spidey artists ever

How should I order them?
Not talking about buying.

title

i take it you like marvel?

How is S&W? Is it good?

my friend's brother showed me his longboxes of everything Comico and First comics released
lots of cool art

Just a lot of Marvel trades, I guess. I like what DC, and other companies put out tho.

Cool. I guess I now have 3 other Spidey omnis I should check out soon. Whenever I can get the cash and get around to reading them.

Flintstones or Shade the Changing Girl?

Shade because it needs support or it could be cancelled and Flinstones is already dead and gone

What wendy project?
Looks cool.

How much that Absolute WW cost? And is it the whole Azz run?

Alphabetical is the easiest to follow theme.
Though best to be not 100% alphabetical, so you're still putting like the Deadpool stuff in correct timeline order not alphabetical title order.

Got the discount, put together an order, but I'm not feeling it. Can anyone think of something to toss in or change to make me pull the trigger before I spend it on commissioning more art instead?

>Usagi is good, the sagas are missing some of the stories like his origin
Different user. Are those missing stories collected somewhere and is there a list? I've been meaning to start Usagi forever and my brother got me the first saga for my birthday.

Shade. Definitely Shade.

Won't be starting any new series's for awhile, but any recommendations for other comics? Not just from the big 2.

Hellboy and Judge Dredd are both very solid "I want to branch out from capes, but I'm not sure how much I want to branch out from them" choices

Seven Soldiers of Victory.

Not comics, but you might like the "Art of Magic the Gathering" books. They read like a world building guide, and are filled with more than art. Seeing you have some DnD stuff and MtG cards, you might really like them.

Post anything Sup Forums related, like pic related. Wasn't as bad as you would think. Hard to call it "good" though.

The only way

There's two absolutes for his run, and the second is not out yet

Best to look for the TPs to get the missing stories

Are there any high fantasy comics with good art in publication at the moment? Or ones that were finished recently?

I've been buying nowt recently, outside of my weekly floppies.

Contemplating starting on those Judge Dredd complete casefiles, but don't know where the fuck I'd put them.
