Eastern comic artists vs.Western comic artists

Is there even a debate? The nip image just has more intensity.

On is flesh on flesh, the other is flesh on metal.

Nope, you win.
Gtfo.

Generally speaking, cape artists don't draw extended fight scenes. Due to the way these stories are paced, they often contain a fight scene to a single full-page spread or 2-3 pages, and as such the detailed moments tend to be more vague.

There are exceptions, but that's just generally how cape comics deal with action.

both are terrible

Why do you keep making this thread or variants of it?

>Generally speaking, cape artists don't draw extended fight scenes. Due to the way these stories are paced, they often contain a fight scene to a single full-page spread or 2-3 pages, and as such the detailed moments tend to be more vague.
It's not the detailed moments but the sense of flow and action you lose that really hurts. I'll never forgive this in a comic: if you need to have an action scene, that scene should also matter and you should put effort into it.

It's not universal in US comics and even in cape comics but it sucks serious shit when it's present. And the pacing thing is a total lie: a great example as counterpoint would be 2000AD where you have like 6-8 pages max on a story and typically they still do action much better than big two capes. Deadworld made its single longest action scene into an entire silent strip that was thematically and visually brilliant.

european artists >>>>> nips

Let's just admit that trying to grade artists by region instead of as artists is about the most retarded thing you can do alongside pretending you have a sincere appreciation for comic art.

Because like in America, or in Europe, or in Japan there are artists who are not even remotely the same. There's stock shit you can point to, but the better artists are always going to be unique.

This was drawn by a European artist as well. Shit ain't region specific.

Most US artists aren't trained to do quality action scenes and fight choreography is bad almost universally through American media.

There were plenty of good action artists in the past, but the current stable grew up on Kirby and Jim Lee. The kids who grew up on Euro comics and manga are slowly breaking into the indie scene and bringing choreography back.

This just gonna be a weekly thread now huh also

>industry icon oda
VS
>>literal who tie in artist

Wonderful start OP,no bias there

As much as I like Oda, his rendering is low tier and his design sense is extremely hit or miss. His strength is in composition.

Now if OP used Urasawa or Murata, you'd have a point.

Indeed.

Well, these threads used to be deleted pretty fast and it's clearly one guy making them but apparently Sup Forums moderation has decided they are OK.

J/K Sup Forums has no fucking moderation.

>Cherrypicking vs Cherrypicking

It's like Spy vs Spy for fucking faggots

>It's like Spy vs Spy for fucking faggots
Yeah, I prefer the pink panter type shenanigans Sup Forums vs Sup Forums threads offer.

The fundamental divide isn't really East and West, it's between artists with a cartoon/animation aesthetic, and those without. Japan happens to be strongly animation-minded, which in turn means cinematic-minded.

>cherry picking to b8 people into responding
>it will probably work

You're comparing a huge panel from a masterful artist who creates one of the most popular comics in the world, with an small panel made by an average underpaid artist who works in an issue-per-month crunch pipeline with a different penciler, inker and colorist.

If you're gonna compare, at least be fair about it. Pic related, here's Legacy of Luther Strode.

I like how Luthor Strode is the Fist of the North Star of the West. Now we need a Baki the Grappler.

I'm guessing the page you posted is an example of shitty art? Or do you actually think that displays movement better than normal capeshit?

Why do you like it, user? I have a hard time telling what's supposed to be happening in half of those panels.

seems to me, especially the way the arguement is presented, that this is just a bait thread.

I tried discussing Gon, not even comparing it just a discussion, and got REEEEEd to high heaven and yet people actually enter a piece of shit thread like this to bitch about factually false shit like regional skill level?

Fuck this place.

And here's Quitely on Jupiter's Legacy.

I smushed together two pages, pardon me for that.

Top stuff are panels from one page, and bottom half is a completely unrelated page. Hopefully that makes it easier to understand.

Unless you're baiting because it's not very hard to understand. Character stands in front of a wall, character breaks a wall.

Character grabs armored van door, reverse shot of people shooting at him, character uses
the door as a shield.
If you have troubles comprehending that maybe you should stop reading comics because average 6year old would understand that.

post the legs

Quietely is great at panel sequences, pic related(for the context read in reverse)

Western comics that do photorealism do it better than manga that try photorealism.

We've had this same fucking thread for he past couple of months, at least once or twice a week, and it's always the same shit. Fuck off back to Sup Forums, Sup Forums or whatever shithole you can from. Nobody gives a fuck who's better at x or y. They're both shit in many areas and good in others. Fuck off!

Someone close this fucking thread.

Why? I'm not the op, but this topic is related to comics and most of the time we get a good discussion out of them which 10 better than cape movies and political threads.

Okay, so it makes slightly more sense. Why do you like it though? What's good about it.

Because OP is right.

There isn't any debate whatsoever. People will just post examples that barely qualify as flukes.

Who is the Alex Ross of manga?

>The huge variety of stories that don't feel like they're edited by soulless executives and market test results.
>We don't doubt/dispute that. But their editors results are more interesting. The fact that there's a manga called My Girlfriend is a T-Rex.
>i've been to a few image expos when they announced titles and felt the same way. even the cooking comic was grim (and unappetizing)
>Im referring to starve, the cooking comic drawn in burrito diarrhea brown tones
>If you had to read either Starve and Food Wars, which would you choose? The one that actually makes you hungry, dammit. Guess which one
>a manga reader can go out and pick from literal thousands of long running complete gay romance stories, and you want $4 for 1 gay character?
>anyway My Hero Academia is read by more people in America than Batman is, bye
>As well it should. My Hero Academia is way more fun than Batman. Just sayin'.
>KAWAIII! MANGA & ANIME IS CUTER AND PRETTIER
>Sometimes, it's just the manga / anime aesthetic just appeals to some readers more, because it tends to be prettier / cuter than its American counterparts. Let's face it, Japan has mastered "cute" and the rest of the world just has to play catch-up...
>I feel a lot of American comics look weird to me--either they're grotesque or really realistic. Manga gives a "cute & pretty" option.
>When I was growing up, US comics were hard to find, had ugly art, and cost way too much. I've been reading an even mix past few years.

stop with these cherrypicking threads, weeb

We have jannies who only delete stuff they don't like.

Like the one who constantly deletes P0ppy threads because the author makes him butthurt.

A. Strange Talent was much better in every respect.
B. Oda has a weekly crunch.

>wan piss

...

Spiderman is the Alex Ross of manga?

Masamune Shirow. Exceptnot only can he draw amazing but he can write amazing. Not sure if I'm dissapointed he only does porn now or not....

But Murata also does action and composition well while Ross struggles with anything more than three panels.

He's a fluke mad genius at comics.

Holy shit.

Look up his porn. It's so good that i can't fap to it. It would be like masterbating to Royo if he drew full penetration.

Not him but the artist Tradd Moore actually has pretty stylized fight scenes.

...

Okay, that one's much better. I don't particularly like it, but I can see why someone would.

I always thought this was bad. It's just manga with colour. I hate over use of speed lines, it's the most lazy way of showing movement.

is most of that background not just rendered? the lighting sucks too. I honestly think this looks like shit.
