It depended on what part of Silesia tho, their Ostsiedlung was very effective during the 18th century. The Germans were also ruthless Germanizers during Prussian rule, after the partitions of Poland.

Lwów had a Polish majority for around 600 years and it's around 770 years. Poles literally built the old town from ground up, even the city's street plan was laid out after Kazimierz rightfully took it. And Poles were still a majority after the partitions of Poland in the Austrian partition in Lwów throughout the whole time, expanding the city in the 19th century.
