What does Sup Forums think of Boku no Hero Academia? Is it more reminiscent of Marvel or DC?

What does Sup Forums think of Boku no Hero Academia? Is it more reminiscent of Marvel or DC?

I think it's not Sup Forums in any way whatsoever and you should fuck off back to Sup Forums.

It's a reminiscent of every battle shounen ever, also not Sup Forums,

It's good, best battle fantasy garbage in years.

A lot of people say it copies Naruto too much, but personally I think it's the way Naruto and other battle fantasy series should have been done in the first place.

Beats Sup Forums discussion desu.

i don't think its heavily influenced by american super heroes. it's a shonen with a super hero paint job.

>Beats Sup Forums discussion desu.
No it doesn't. Piss off, Sup Forumsutist.

How? I'm a comic fan and my coworker recommended it. He said it's a comic with a spidermanish vibe. Aren't costumed superheroes fighting supervillains Sup Forums?

What's shounen?

Stories made for young boys. Series like DBZ, Hero Academia, Hunter X hunter, and Jojo.

They usually have a bunch of action and adventure in them. Stuff that a guy would like to read/watch.

>Aren't costumed superheroes fighting supervillains Sup Forums?
>Images and discussion should pertain to media of Western origin

Despite what may cross-boarders may believe, this board is no Capes and Cartoons.

I think it did something interesting with its setting. Stain is all about how the world of superheroes is bullshit in world of BNHA and how being a hero started being a salaryman's job instead of your typical vigilante like spider-man and it works only if you put heroes of BNHA against heroes like Spider-man.

Though, it's true that people who claim it's best capeshit ever are ignorant and barely picked up a comic in their lives.

> the greatest hero of all time in-universe is Superman crossed with Hulk
> powers exist in a manner similar to the X-gene
> existence of tech-based heroes as supports
> family of speedsters
> a villain whose motivation, design, and powers reek of the 90s era
> an organization of heroes
> a literal League of Villains
Have you even watched the show, user?

It is the best comic related thing out right now. One of the besf battle shonen in years.
All might is inspiring and why I go to the gym four times a week.
Cap, Spiderman, All Might

>Aren't costumed superheroes fighting supervillains Sup Forums?
No? The board is called "Comics & Cartoons", not "Capeshit & Capeshit". Dumb moron.

It's what casuals say is a genre of One Piece, DBZ, Fairy Tail and etc.

It's basically target audience by the publisher. For example, same casuals wouldn't even identify Death Note as shonen. Or Koe no Katachi.

DC for sure. Old generation passing the torch but maintaining a good presence throughout the story is more their thing. Marvel just kinda adds characters without doing much of the legacy for it.

I don't like the current arc, its an interesting premise but one of Hero Academia biggest strength is the supporting cast. But this has gone way too much on the focus on Deku and the third year dude who looks like the love child of Tintin and Vault Boy, only Kirishima got much focus. While the rest of Class 1-A gets to do jjackshit, not even Bakugou the fucking second focus character other than Deku and All-Might.

>secondaries
I seriously have problems watching it. It like drops from being 8/10 manga to 6/10 anime.

it's most like DC, since All Might is basically Superman, but it's also not Sup Forums

Aren't superheroes inherently meant for little boys?
The writer based the story on Spider-Man from what I've heard. Doesn't that make it western origin? It's a comic book after all

PINKY BEST GIRL

OfA is basically Super Soldier serum.

Japan loves Spider-Man, they pretty much worship the guy.

>Doesn't that make it western origin? It's a comic book after all
Oh, I get it now. You're retarded.

Discussions of not Sup Forums media should be stopped starting with Sup Forums

minus the needing to train for it and being well beyond peak human.

>The writer based the story on Spider-Man from what I've heard. Doesn't that make it western origin?
No, stop being retarded.

Meant to quote:

What's the difference?

>Illustrated books
>Targeted at boys
>About costumed heroes punching out badguys

It's like comics are about science or sewing or anything

one is from Japan and one is from America/Europe

Comics =/= capeshit, retard.

God, remember the days before the MCU?

I don't get it. Shounen is apparently a demographic of boys. So what's the issue? Isn't Superman shounen?

Where were you when Japan did Superman better than any DC project in recent history?

I feel like this is all a very elaborate troll

>About costumed heroes punching out badguys
>Comics are all capeshit
Are all BnHA fanboys a bunch of dirty casuals?

...

How am I retarded? Comic books wouldn't exist if the west never created them

I mean how recent are we talking because Superman Beyond 3D isn't even 10 years old

I do like All Might, though

Japan is a western country

It belongs to the Euro-American socio-political sphere
But the overwhelming majority of comics are about superheroes

I'd say since All Star

if you want to get technical, sequential art is a near-universal communication method

I'm not a casual. I've devoured almost everything from the 1990's onwards

alright yeah, I'll buy that

All Might is the best Super Hero of the last couple decades.

wew

just take it to Sup Forums, lad

But comic books as we know them are uniquely western

The question was meant for Sup Forums, I don't watch anime

Shonen is target audience by Japanese publisher. A lot of mangas are actually shonen too, but considered seinen simply because they aren't published by a shonen publisher.

Sup Forums is for manga, too

Majority =/= all of it.

Overwhelming majority of anime is moe garbage like Gochiusa, New Game, Umaru and EVA. Does that mean that all anime is moe garbage?

Bnha fags are the new jojofags.

American hero comics are usually placed into the Shounen section of Japanese bookstores and libraries

EVA is moe garbage now?

The majority of anime is action-adventure with romance as the runner up. Moe is pretty niche.

>now

Is there another EVA that I'm unaware of or are we talking about the mecha series with a retarded ending?

>retarded ending

I like it, but I think our mods should do their jobs.

cool but do they have a joker

Thread still up. Might as well as this:

Who will you like to see boku no hero academia cross over with? Marvel or D.C.?

niether, its Sup Forumsutistic garbage.

wouldn't that make it closer to Marvel, then?

Isnt All Might way more Captain Marvel?

marvel is autistic in the sjw way while this is just anime autism, completely different.

>But the overwhelming majority of comics are about superheroes
Not really, USA is pretty much the only country that produces capeshit, and even then amount of non-cape publishers in USA has increased in recent years, and then there are the webcomics.

I wanna see Captain America having one fot all passed on to him. A good what if story.

>the greatest superman is shazam
>not cape influenced

I wish the anime could get the shigaraki scenes right. I hope encounter is better done than his past ones, it's pretty fucking important.

I like All Might but superman has been doing pretty good recently is not like DC is treating him badly as marvel is doing with Captain America nowadays.
Also in a related matter current superboy (supes' son) is remarkably similar to Deku in a lot of ways.

dude even ignoring the obvious golden age superheroes references in All Might's design, Stain looks like he came out right out of a issue of Spawn.

Those are all pretty radically different in terms of plot and overall tone.

Why won't he do his fucking job?

I thought Sup Forums threads couldn't be any worse but Sup Forums+Sup Forums combined is a new level of awful

that's what i mean by paint job. there's a lot of designs or powers taken from us comics but all the characters, their motivations, the plot and the pacing are all straight up anime.

idk AM role as "symbol of peace" is very western cape comic, like the become a symbol thing is something i have seen from Superman, Captain America, both Captains Marvels and so on.
also the set up has a lot of elements from X men like how Quirks work and the way society changed because of it reminds me of Kingdom Come and Earth X, also the Vigilante spin off manga has a lot of elements of Batman and Punisher and two gag characters based in Wolverine and Cyclops, hell they even have a whole gang of mobsters that are based in the avengers.

I can't really get into it. Nice grills (especially Himiko) though.

On the flipside, when someone says "shonen" they know you're talking about battle shonen and only severe autists get bent out of shape about the correct terminology.

How recent we talking?

Ahhh fuck it. We haven't had a good superman since '06 with Justice League/Justice League Unlimited.

Is it so hard to write the Big Super Boyscout? We've had it done before! There were THREE whole series on him! Why can't we bounce off of that?!

>someone that would defend Eva's ending
>endings
>All fail

I think it's more Marvel based on Deku's class. While DC dabbles in it most "heroes" tend to be somewhat attractive and human looking while Marvel plays around more with having characters look freaky while still being "heroes".

Also the way that it's paced out and the way it treats being a hero, I'd say it's closer to the vibes that X-men give me than any sort of DC justice team. Then again I'm VERY VERY casual when it comes to comics so my thoughts are pretty skewed.

you haven't been reading comics are you ?
Rebirth has been great for Supes and his entire family.

>You can only like one type of show
They're still series that are aimed towards boys. They have more fighting while shoujo (girl stuff) would focus more on relationship drama.

It's a school for mutants some have crap powers some have great powers. They all learn to use what they've got. It's like X-Men, so marvel

>like the love child of Tintin and Vault Boy
That's extremely hilarious for some reason.

>I have never watched a shounen, but it's animu and has fighting so it clearly is the same as everything!

where the fuck are the mods

Take your shit anime back to Sup Forums then, instead of having it treated like it should be on Sup Forums.

Jerking eachother off. Does anyone have a link to the porn thread that was up for hours the other day?

It's x-men if it happened in a DC sort of universe.

I'm not the one who brought it here you fucking faggot.

Then why are you defending something that shouldn't be here? Even if it's from an unfounded criticsm? Just fuck off.

Sup Forums is just pissy because Sup Forums stuff reminds them that tiny island inbreds make better comics and cartoons than the entirety of the west. OP asked a valid question, this thread is fine here.

I'd say it's a good mix of both. Marvel did the whole Avengers academy thing for a while. DC has the justice league which is a more competent attempt at keeping the world safe than the Avengers. it's also a lot like marvel which used to be very new york centric, hero academia takes place only in tokyo and the surrounding area. it's also a lot like Tiger & Bunny if you're familiar with that anime

>It has pretty much every single trope often associated with battle shouen, but this time they are superheros instead of ninjas or pirates so this makes it totally unique and original, and all superheros comic which i don't actually read should follow it's example.

I thought it was pissy because our mods are so shit. We have 2 Sup Forums threads on right now that we know will go 500+ posts.

>this thread is fine here.
no it isn't. Despite what Sup Forums would have you believe, this is not a general superheroes board. BnHA is not a western comic or cartoon, nor is it based on one, therefore it does not belong on Sup Forums.

Off topic threads are supposed to be deleted. And if you thought that the Japs made better content why aren't you on Sup Forums?

>DURRRRR HE BETTAH DEN SOOPAHMAN

Read fucking superman you dumb faggot

>OP asked a valid question, this thread is fine here.
No he did not, Sup Forums is for discussion of western comics and cartoon, this thread is for discussing Boku no Hero Academia, which is neither.

Because Sup Forums would delete a thread like this.
