old one still up, let this die

sigils on the edge? like when you try to write on the edge of pages so it's only visible when the book is closed? neat.

not this night jani!

posted at the end of the last thread. missed one panel's worth of wing membrane lines. fixed now

Does Sup Forums like my Refreshing new comic?

whenever i feel bad about my art and writing i remember this has been running for over 1000 strips and i feel a little better

If it makes you feel even better, it's closer to 2050

Does the action in the bottom panel work? Should I have broken it into two panels?

it works, but a bottle isn't going to hit a head and then go straight up, it's going to go careening off. so what you want to do is draw circles coming from where it hit showing that it spun as it ricocheted
technically the same is almost certainly true of his head
This was pretty funny for the first four panels, just for the record.

Can't remember if I posted this yet or not...

You didn't.
What a team

Oh you are right, just threw a bottle of water against the wall and it did actually spin around. should had also thrown an empty one

rest of you shitters need to learn to draw so we can see more stuff like this and less DA tier trash

i haven't been here in a while, the biweekly challenge looks fun i think i have enough time to make 3 pages in 2 week i'll give it a shot

Hello everybody, I just started drawing my first comic last week, may I get some advice for a website to upload it please? I am pretty sure it would get deleted from tumblr

adorable. where are you from, new chum?

try out comicfury, comicgenesis, drunkduck, smackjeeves, or if you're super lazy, the likes of tapastic

For any of you Anons that understand color. Does anything jump out at you about this that needs to be fixed?

Or does this work better with black lines.

I read somewhere that color lines are better but... eeeehhhh... I don't know what I'm doing.

is THAT why the first one looks so weirdly... foggy and drab. I didn't realize it conciously but now that you've said it, yeah, black lines work much better here. Keeps things from getting muddled. It's a poster, after all.
Colored lines are wonderful for some things, especially materials that should seem softer or less opaque (hair, especially light-colored hair comes to mind)
honestly when I switch back and forth between these two it just looks like the outlines get thicker, and that is an improvement

I'm wondering whether the comic I'm working on has a future, I've got more to tell but the response has been very quiet even five issues in:

shroomsdayproductions.com/peerless/peerless005.htm

Would be interested in thoughts on whether it has promise or one to retire.

What about the rest of it? Text Color? I kind of like the Blue so I left it. Maybe make the lower text darker?

And yeah, you're right, the first one looked muddy to me too.

i just reposting stuff.

Love the blue
lower text is readable but the outlines are kind of thick relative to the letters. I'm not sure how it would affect readability if they were changed. Darker wouldn't hurt though. Maybe only darker on the parts sitting in front of characters.

also, 'cornhole' ? Do I want to know?

what does thew title mean?

>shroomsday
heh.
Man I don't think a serious action comic with art like this is going to be a hit anytime soon, but I'm not going to tell you you don't have promise. You have dedication and it's not boring to look at.

It's that game where you throw the ball through holes cut in a rectangular piece of wood. It's super country, like Horse shoe.

It's a military thing.

military school?

No. Active Duty.

>throw the ball through holes cut in a rectangular piece of wood
that crooked carny game? jesus
wait, soldiermans are having a track and field day?

oh also another typo I see, it's Frisbee not frisby
now technically the Wham-O! toy company would have you believe that they own the trademark to Frisbee, but that's ludicrous for a number of reasons. For one thing you can't trademark a person's name. For another, they stole the name (and the toy) from the Frisby Pie Company whose pie tins were the original throwing-item of choice.
The idea that this also required the change of Mrs Frisby to Brisby is stupid for all those reasons plus the fact that the book already got away with it.

Fair point, the comedic stuff is a bit more forgiving on art quality.

Hey man, I didn't suggest the games I'm just drawing the poster

>track and field day

Yes. That's basically it, except spread out over a week.

I just finished a brand new page, I hope yall like it. The video will be coming out later on today.

Only small changes I would make is change the saturated blue color on the shirt from the frisbee guy. It skews with the depth of the image to have the only strong saturated color in the far background whereis all the colors in the foreground are very desaturated. Also, you can use a mixture of black lines for the foreground characters and the slightly lighter lines for the ones in the far back. Again, creates more depth.

Hi guys. posted in last thread but didnt get much criticism so posting again.
pls tell me what you think of the jokes and the composition and stuff.

btw this is just a concept drawn with mouse. i will draw much better when i buy a tablet

Enjoy!

I love the helmet man joke.

There's also something entirely down to taste: it might be more funny if helmet man literally does nothing but wear a helmet. I think the spinning-on-helmet thing is pretty quirky, so even if you go the "he just wears a helmet" route it could be fun to keep it in.

I'm not a big fan of the "fifth headshot" joke, because it seems to break the flow of the larger helmet-man skit. Also, you've kinda already set up the police as villains by having them shoot a guy for wearing a helmet.

Inb4 20 people praising this. This isn't good at all dude cmon you know you wouldn't buy this shit. Get it together.

Dude stfu please

I think it's good. The jokes are funny, and the pacing is fast.

But, although I do think it's very good, I also think it's a copycat. In style, not jokes. It reminds me a hell of a lot of a fair few manga. The author's good enough to develop their own style eventually.

It's not good I promise you it's not good like just trust me on this one.

There was a vague attempt.
Now try drawing it legibly.

thanks for the feed back!

Monster Lands updated. The line about travel pamphlets is a callback to an earlier page. monster-lands.com/

ok

can you elaborate on that?

The art is terrible but that barely matters in webcomics. I've seen much worse jokes on plenty cartoon shows.

Final Version. I boldened the lines for the foreground players. Added softer blue lines for the background characters, saturated the whole thing a bit and added a little gradient to the shirts.

No one cares.

hey, be nice
looks great! well, better than mine

Than you dude, I am from LONDON
I'll check the websites the said asap

Today's JE-NL

What filled you with rage, user.

Huh, your english felt a little overly formal, as if book-learned. I assumed you were foreign. I mean, more foreign than that.

>replying to it
Snickered lightly, but I feel like it could have been condensed down to two panels in a larger comic with more of a point. Not that this kind of humor isn't also good. Something really amusing about their two faces being all that shows (at countertop level) and being so close to each other. If purple's face in the last panel was a little more worried, I think that would seal the deal.
It's weird how these threads have changed my standards and made me think about pacing and condensation

3 of 5 pages completed. Getting it done quick. Now I'm wishing I could do the same with Witch's Hill, but I think I sort of drawn myself into a corner with the style I have it in.

>We are already in October so many start doing the Inktober challenge, will you join in the exercise?

I'm not a fan of working with ink, but I might do some stuff. I mean, I have the stuff for it, so I might as well.

No rage.

I don't think the inktober challenge has to do with ink, it's more the -tober part that matters.

It's about drawing with Ink in October. If you don't normally use ink, then now's the time to try it, and challenge yourself. Like a lot of people I'm mostly digital nowadays, but I'll be doing Inktober again, and trying to slow down my inking to improve the lines I make. I'll use this as an opportunity to try and learn how to use my brush pens properly.

I believe the "ink" part is about committing to making a line without undoing it, or erasing it, or otherwise going back and trying it over and over until it's just right. Be bold, make a mark and keep it.

Inktober IS all about the ink; it doesn't matter what you draw, as long as it's in ink and takes place in October.

Drawlloween, on the other hand, is specifically halloween-themed, but doesn't specify a medium. You could combine them both and do the Drawlloween challenges in ink.
(I'm doing Drawlloween but digitally.)

I thought it was just about drawing one thing every day in october, regardless of medium.
Nobody I follow who's participating in Inktober is using ink.

Literal retard, why do they call it INKtober? Just because none of your retard associates understand it either doesn't mean your band of retards is correct.

Inktober also counts with "digital ink"

because "Drawtober" doesn't sound as good.

Oh, then it's not too far off from what I do normally.

Yeah seems the challenge is quite flexible in those regards. I still do traditional inking though just for the hell of it, and because otherwise this ink I used just one semester in college will dry alone.

That's a huge problem I have. I am either overly formal or just plain pig disgusting, no middle ground

just for practice, try using contractions. That might lead you down the right path.

will do tnk u pal

Not sure if joking or unrelated but you know those aren't contractions, right?

everyday my comic is going nowhere. im so depressed. is life even worth living?

Just kidding based user

Cheer up buddy. It isn't about getting popular but having fun with your comic.

>tfw huge HD of refs and manga that I trace from and make edits like these with
>tfw no one has caught on yet
n-no rules only tools, fake it till you make it.

>tfw I never trace the reference photos or pics I use because it feels like cheating, but apparently I'm too good at redrawing them so some people think I'm tracing anyway

I'll destroy you one day, I promise.

Why trace when clip studio paint allow literally anyone with no drawing skill to create images?

>lets try inktober
>oh right I am a slow worker and takes me an entire day to make a single drawing
>I guess I will barely work on the comic this month

On the upside there will hopefully be a slight jump in quality

I am so proud of myself right now feelsgoodman

Is that yellow road leading to a magical realm?

Actually yes

That's so neat dude, are you in the military?

Jesus christ this looks horrible and has no actual appeal

it's shit, and your brush is shit

My only question would be how autisticly retarded do you have to be to be able to enjoy such a mediocre work like yours

Just read a Bastien Vivès comic.

So fucking jealous of this guy. He gets to draw big tits and futas and get his shit published at age 23 and got a movie adaptation of one of his comic at age 33.
He's french like me, and got recognition.
And here I am, drawing my stuff.
Fuck.

I like it anyway

I can see myself being tempted to trace, but I would only trace photographs I take myself.

I'm still working on my webcomic I guess, but I feel like the critical period to get it noticed in a substantial way has passed by.

If you're not part of the pre-established twitter cliques already it feels like the current atmosphere for webcomic artists means there's zero chance for you these days. Until the next big thing comes around, that whole culture of artists getting fanart and guest comics seems like it's over and that makes me feel kind of sad that I didn't manage to get my work out when Homestuck was still big and webcomics were all the rage again, for a while.

that is because you have taste
>flaming bones
that's a little redundant

Just do it for your friends and do something you truly enjoy. I know my comic is well liked around my friends and some internet circles, it's not big but it makes me kinda happy.

As long as you're happy and strive for doing something better, you're on your way. Just try to aim to be better with new pages, listen to critics and be civil, and maybe something will happen.

Or draw porn.

Not him but I think it's actually neat.

I like that the stones at the far back are almost entirely white, but the stones at the end incorporate shadows. what inspired you to do that, a scene you saw in real life or another artwork?

Anyway, as a whole it looks like it was done by an amateur.... I would probably start by practice drawing shrubs or grass.
