I don't care for the way they designed hobbits.

Other than that it's enjoyable and the music is nice

I think Rankin Bass Hobbit and Bakshi's LotR gets a bad rap from autistic Tolkienfags but before Peter Jackson's Trilogies they weren't half bad on the VCR on a Saturday evening in a kind of way.

They should have done Fellowship and Two Towers too, or Bakshi should have covered Return of the King

I'd prefer the first because their art style is more pleasing. Though the elves should look like the non-goofy humans in The Last Unicorn. Green is just weird.

Its the sort of thing only certain people will appreciate, showing this to a general audience now would make them raise an eyebrow and laugh at it., its too much like a fairytale story in the way its portrayed.

Shouldve done a movie for each book like this.

Loved it. Loved smaug.

It's stellar. I wish it was 30 minutes longer and they didn't have to cut anything out or rush the story. John Hurt's Gandalf is the highlight.

Best adaptation of the series; criminally underrated.

"Where There's A Whip There's A Way" is some GOAT movie music.

That's LotR faggots. Hobbit has the real GOAT music:

It's the same creators, the same studio, the same composers and the same musicians. There's really no reason to reason to try to fight.

As muchas I like the Rankin/Bass stuff (The Last Unicorn is one of my favorite cartoons ever), the elves look horrible and break any kind of immersion for me.

No reason is a reason.

>There's really no reason to reason to try to fight.

Love it. One of my favorite animated movies.

>only certain people will appreciate
People who didn't grow up with CGI as the baseline for movie SFX and could understand the degree of love and care that went int–
>"the grrrrrreaaaatest adventurrrrrrrr"
ok fuck it I'm out

Psh everyone loves Rankin and Bass. Let's talk about this hot mess.

I'm glad it was there when I was a kid. Dunno if my kids would enjoy it.
Their "return of the king" sucked, trying to fit too much into one short film.

Agreed. Fantastic soundtrack, too. Maximum comfy.

Is that Rick and Morty?

I know this film has its apologists, but man, it's bad on so many levels
