Why is FOX letting them make a shitty jump scare X-Men horror movie but Josh Trank wasn't allowed to make a Cronenberg style F4 body horror movie?

Horror is in right now.

Please don't tell me that's a Marvel character.

Because that picture is dogshit, Trank's idea was dogshit, the movie was dogshit, the casting was dogshit, and FOX is dogshit for not making a straight up family adventure movie about them exploring.

Cause logans dick was sucked for bwing a non-generic super hero movie, deadpool 1's was too (even though it was actually really basic people acted like it was different becausethey coukd swear)

So fox thinks the only way to make x-men movies is not to make x-men movies

Because X-Men is a tried and tested franchise that has had two non-conventional movies turn out to be huge successes already.

Horror makes dosh, just look at Blade Runner getting its ass handed to it by Groundhog Day with Jason

Horror fits mutants more than the fucking F4.

But the horror parts were the only good parts of Fan4stic

Yeah I know it's shit they didn't let him make his movie

That's how the whole movie was supposed to be

It's fox, not Marvel, but the fact you can't read the file name or tell who it is is a bad sign.

Because this was before Deadpool, Logan, and Legion.

Fox is now being experimental due to the success of those movies.

They are even making a Dr Doom solo origin movie.

This, the project was doomed from second one.

Because Legion did well.

Logan and Deadpool made them realize you can go dark and still make money.

Will his Doctor Doom movie be good?

I completely forgot about this. Is it confirmed and actually happening?

Fant4stic was before Logan

Someone spoil me on the plot.

How reliable is Variety?
variety.com/2017/film/news/doctor-doom-1202502084/

Only if they cast Mads Mikkelsen as Dr.Doom.

Because
1) Trank tried to do a genre for something that's been usually an adventure-family book
2) Trank was doing drugs during the whole production
3) Apparently infighting between cast
4) Fox fucked up even more the movie with the re-shoots
5) Logan and Deadpool hadn't happened yet to let the Fox executives see that you can do more than just super-hero stuff, like MCU did with GotG and CA:TWS

in short words, it was a mess since day one

First of all, Fantastic 4 and X-men are owned/controlled by different people.

Constatin Films still owns and produces the F4 movies under fox. While Lauren Shuler Donner helms the x-men franchise. F4 has never had a person guiding the franchise. Im not saying Donner does a good or bad job. Also while some writers may have worked on the both franchises, they're still treated differently.

F4 sits and eventually they say "lets work on making a movie" and just like actors auditioning for parts they put it out there to agents and directors and writers pitch their ideas. Thats what happens with lots of franchises.

Donner with the x-men has had the foresight to try to NOT be the MCU. She said after Avengers came out that they should not try to copy what disney does but instead make genre films that are x-men movies. The Wolverine was in production during this change and doesn't really reflect the new direction yet.

DOFP - Time Travel
Deadpool - Rom Com
Apocalypse - Roland Emmerich style disaster movie
Logan - one last ride western
New Mutants - horror

Problem with F4 is no one is really sitting there knowing what to do with. The next time its made will be by entirely different people. If Ike at marvel wasn't so cheap, fox would be willing to sell it. Disney would be willing to buy it. It's Ike's choice as CEO of marvel, not even Feige can approve that. All it would take is about a billion dollars, but Ike is too cheap.

>First of all, Fantastic 4 and X-men are owned/controlled by different people.

Not quite. Kinberg was involved with Fantastic Four and he was also involved with DOFP and Apocalypse.

He was also involved with a Star Wars spinoff that was to have Trank direct it but obviously because of the Fantastic Four incident it led to Trank "leaving" the project.

They're reliable insofar as they report on what people from studios tell them. It's also possible that Fox says they have plans for something like that, but then never gets around to doing it because they're busy with something else.

That's Dr. Doomoverhere

>Also while some writers may have worked on the both franchises, they're still treated differently.

learn to read

He's producer, not just writer.

And he was nothing on the 2005-07 film and there were 5 producers on the 2015 film. Kinberg didn't helm the project. You're confusing contributed to controlled.

>First of all, Fantastic 4 and X-men are owned/controlled by different people.

Kinberg WORKED ON, does not CONTROL or OWN either property. Donner controls the X-men films. She has the rights to the x-men films. No one person helms or controls the F4 films.

Because the Demon Bear arc was horror and Fantastic Four isnt.

>tell who it is
You serious? How was anyone supposed to know that was Doom?

green and metal duh

That honestly sounds like a shit investment. What does the FF bring to the table that is worth a billion bucks?

We know marvel has their hands full managing the MCU with all of the properties under their thumb. They still get a cut of everything not movie related concerning the FF. And we know the movie/netflix line up would be shit on all fronts.

Of what, Blade Runner or Happy Death Day.

F4 is easily a billion dollar franchise in the hands of disney. Getting things back like super skrulls, galactus, silver surfer, doom. So many iconic stories use the F4, namor, inhumans, black panther. Substituting is not the option they want. Synergy between all brands is the best option, recreating stories people know is what disney does. It's worth it, but ike won't pay it.

And we've seen many of those things substituted without too much backlash or hindrance to the mainstream audience.

>Super Skrull
Already replaced basic skrulls with aliens. Could just as easily insert some hyper alien/super hero one as well.

>Galactus/SS/Doom
No guarantee that it would even be worth 500 mill for them. Spider-Man has shown superhero fatigue is beginning to set in.

>Iconic Stories
Which ones are of high value? The two main stories casuals know about FF is their origin and Galactus.

Maybe at the start of the MCU the F4 could have been worked in. But now the FF's lore hooks have all been paved over making the only thing you're buying them for is Doomwank and their cosmic gallery. The FF themselves would still have the weight of the previous fox blunders to carry as well.

Namor btw is wrapped up with universal.

> something isn't FAIIIIIR
go back to /r9k/

>Problem with F4 is no one is really sitting there knowing what to do with
It's a book anchored in a bygone time and Hollywood stubbornly refuses to give it the New Frontier take that defines it because that's not modern enough for them.

It should be Kirby chrome and Reed biting a pipe stem while spouting scientific nonsense while Sue clutches her pearls, Johnny makes stupid quips nonstop and Ben lifts heavy objects because as cheese as all that sounds, it's what made the book and made it great.

Drama is cancer to the book no matter how many times you try to sell "but it's really about FAMILY" and runs out of steam quickly as does I QUIT THE FANTASTIC FOUR.

A decent F4 film can be made but it needs to be ADVENTURES about weird monsters and shit first to stand out, and it needs a story that wasn't a last minute shitout because the public will know and stay away.

Either Fox should take it seriously or just fucking hand it back to Marvel who literally cannot do a worse job at this point much as it pains me to say it.

>Either Fox should take it seriously or just fucking hand it back to Marvel who literally cannot do a worse job at this point much as it pains me to say it.

This is not happening though. They're not handing a valuable property over. Fox would sell it, but Ike won't pay. It's much more valuable in disney's hands than in fox's. Say fox wanted to sell it to paramount or universal, they wouldn't buy it for much at all. Fox knows disney(marvel) would and should pay for it. It's both sides. Fox would be stupid to hand it back. Ike is stupid to not buy it.

Fox was gonna sell it to marvel before it was acquired by Disney, I doubt fox is going to be willing to give Disney another potential cornerstone franchise

Ryan Gosling is stuck in a time loop getting killed by his future self played by Harrison Ford also Jared Leto appears

> I doubt fox is going to be willing to give Disney another potential cornerstone franchise

Everyone talks like this, but it's not as big of a deal as people think. At a certain point properties lose their value. Hell disney sold power rangers back to saban. Things go back and forth. Marvel does not pay. They're cheap, they're notoriously cheap. Artists and writers go on record with how much they get for DC stuff vs marvel stuff. It's a cheap company.

because Teen Horror is a lot cheaper to make and almost always makes Mondo Dosh

BodyHorror on the other hand...not so much.
(also Fantastic Four should be a family adventure)

Isn't the story the New Mutants movie is being loosely based on as close to horror as an X-Men related story has gotten?

its funny to me to see the incredibles and spider-man and the guardians of the galaxy making bank for disney while fox sits on fantastic four fucking clueless.
>hey lets make F4 dark and diverse and jewish

>and jewish

I'm still not convinced Sup Forums isn't a mental illness

>Hollywood and the whole media is 90% jewish
>"""diversity""" is now the new norm across all medias

Even if you don't believe in any conspiracy, you can still blame the jews

You realize how fucking retarded you sound whining about le jews ruining F4 or cape comics in any form? If Jack Kirby was here he'd knock your teeth out you ignorant shit bag.

>Hollywood and the whole media is 90% jewish

That makes it 10% less Jewish than the creators of the F4!

if dr doom was better and trank was free to do as he liked, the movie would have been better.

FF is just a victim of the current norm, enforced by the Jewish, it doesn't matter what Kirby did before, if anything, is even a offense to his work. Half a century has passed already, you can't compare what someone did to survive half century ago to a decision made by a mega Hollywood today

>Doctor Doom movie
thats how you succeed with f4.
Doctor doom solo movie
silver surfer solo movie.
then you introduce f4 movies.
dr doom is the first villain, galactus in the second movie, and a silver surfer requiem movie for the great finale

to be fair. Happy death day has way better trailers.

Has anyone ever considered that the reason they haven't been able to make a good Fantastic Four movie is because the Fantastic Four are shitty and lame to begin with?

yep 50's serial adventure.

basically.. lost in space. (and avatar, and starlight, and buck rogers, and flash gordon, and john carter of mars. thor 3.) Admittedly... profits on most of those...absent.

but yeah, Fantastic 4 launch into space in 1950.
go on space adventures. return to earth in 2021. (time dilation)

Not quite, the issue is that they're just inherently cartoony, more so than most cape characters. There's no way Reed's power can translate to live action without looking like creepy and the Thing won't look right no matter what you do.

A Timm style cartoon or Brad Bird Incredibles style CGI movie is the way to go.

>Shitty

You've seen the movie already? Tell me, how was it?

FF would be *perfect* for the current Marvel tone. Thing is a quip machine, Reed is a more likeable Stark and his powers are funny to work with, Torch could work like MCEU Starlord and Susan can be the kick-ass women with power they still don't have, her invisibility is a bit lame but the force fields are cool as fuck.

Plus, the FF gallery of villains is the GOAT which could bring so much to the MCEU.

>Plus, the FF gallery of villains is the GOAT which could bring so much to the MCEU.

Marvel has had tons of GOAT villains all portrayed by GOAT actors. They'd ruin Doom the way they ruin everything.

Because a horror story is appropriate to the New Mutants, but a shitty body horror film is not appropriate to the F4

The 2005 film did almost everything right, it only fucked up big time with Doom.

Nah they fucked up big time with the casting.

Reed is a fucking blackhole of charisma and screen presence. He's not a mad scientist, he's not a super genius so brilliant that he misses what's right in front of his face, he's not the team's daddy, he's just a boring person whose not fun to watch.

Bless Jessica Alba, apparently she was a huge fan of the material, but she's shit. She comes off like a scientist in a porn parody. "Umm I'm wearing glasses and a button up shit so I'm smart lol."

Evans was fine I guess but not memorable. Chiklis had the perfect voice but the Thing looked like rubbery shit. Doom was a literal 0.

Regarding a possible MCU Thing, I would even accept a turn on/off The Thing like Torch (but not with a perfect control of the transformation, of course, so we could work on his "horrific" aspect of being the Thing), in favor of less CGI usage when they aren't in action (in favor of better CGI when needed) and a GOOD actor, similarly to the Hulk we have

well it is fucking mid-late October... did you not expect a horror movie to do well this time of year?

The real horrorshow is that Blade Runner has been panned by all the retards that still actually go to the theatre.

People probably said the same about Groot and Rocket Racoon yet Marvel was able to be make it work.

>the Brood
>that weird ass Golgotha storyline
>the Academy X stuff with the ghost mutant
X-Men's done horror a few times.

GOAT

>doctor doom movie
what a great time to be alive
