No need for sexy comics anymore

I personally don't think there is a reason for sexy costumes anymore. Back in the old days, comics were basically soft core porn. You had characters like Wonder Woman with her low key bondage fetish. Then as you get further in the ages, the costumes get smaller and the tits get bigger.

Fast forward to now. You can see porn on any internet connected device any time of day. There's no need for soft core porn anymore when you have hard core whatever you want.

By arguing to keep overly sexy costumes you're basically trying to argue that we should keep jerking off to Victorias Secret catalogs instead of far superior internet porn.

Sorry for the Cho. It's the best example I had at short notice.

>Back in the old days, comics were basically soft core porn
Being this clinically retarded must be a challenge user, and for that I admire your perseverance.

then it's a good thing you don't speak for all of us.
I really don't give two shits about what costume any of them wear, as long as I like the character. If it shows skin - I'm fine with that. If it doesn't show much skin - I'm fine with that too.

>It's the best example I had at short notice

Your post was that urgent?

Oh no OP caught Marvel's retarded... who knew it could spread?!

What's your problem with sexyness? Do we live still in the Dark Ages, so we should be ashamed of the human body, and it should be covered? Art is the absolute freedom of expression. If you don't like it, just turn your eyes in another direction. Personally i love my comics to be sexy.

>low key
Have you read early sensation? It was front and center

Not everything tantalizing needs to be hardcore sex.

The real reason outfits were skimpy is because the people drawing them were bored and horny at their jobs.

I don't really see that scenario disappearing entirely. There's always going to be someone bored and horny in some comic or animation work.

Is it needed in every book? no. But it is fun from time to time to have some sexy designs in our fictional characters. I think yes.

You are right and they don't get it. That's why it's still like that, because they can't notice it.

>Back in the old days, comics were basically soft core porn.

You're a fucking idiot. Take your shitpost elsewhere.

>sex is BAD
>sexuality is BAD

Americans, everybody.

>There's no need for soft core porn anymore when you have hard core whatever you want.
Some people like softcore better.
Some people like Victoria's secret better.
Some people like their superhero comics with no sexual themes, some people like them with fanservice, and some people like them with graphic sexual content.

Sexy costumes are aesthetically pleasing.
If I don't need art that's aesthetically pleasing I might as well just read a novel.
Nobody needs comics, as the floundering sales indicate.

Yep. Pretty much.

The thing is I know where these movements are coming from. I can see why women may get uncomfortable looking at certain costume designs or certain narrative context in comics. Women will constantly tell men to stop projecting their desires into art, while they're doing the same exact thing.

Changing art is not going to change people particularly. Since the dawn of time, art has been a reflection of the times and the people's mindsets at those times. The only reason why art has such an impact is because of how well an artist can describe this reflection. It originiates from the person. There is a problem with sexism, sure. In people. The art in comics is just an expression. Changing the art is only going to make people angry and confused, which is currently evident.

And I get it. Women want better role models in assorted media. But why are they targeting comics about this? These are people's original ideas. It's easier to neglect this aspect with these well-established ideas, but imagine going up to an art student and holding up their character design, then erasing it and totally redesigning it. Whose character is it now? Of course you could argue that large ips have transcended this, but the idea of the character is still valuable to a lot of people. And nothing is stopping anyone from creating new characters. Sorry that Ms. Marvel was already popular I guess?

Who says you NEED it. Why can't people still want it.

I see a lot of augments for getting rid of certain things being, "well why do they need X" And I don't get why people have to justify wanting something. You're allowed to want whatever.

It's not because of Americans. It's because sex in narrative is harmful when the narrative is not about sex.
Sex and fear overpower everything else in the brain. There is no space for anything else in the places of the brain that are dealing with sex and fear.
If you write a scene that is supposed to make you feel... pitty, or wonder... and you put sex on it too, les pitty or wonder is going to be experience by those exposed to that part of the story. That's why very effecive comedians are never hot or intimidating, because if you are the slightless horny or scared you have no space in your brain to experience comedy or anything else.
That's why you don't see scares coming out of nowhere in stories that are not about being scares. Because, what the fuck does fear have to do with that scene?
But you see sex shoved everywhere, so you have a scene of pitty, and also two huge boobs with nipples poking in the middle of the scene.

If a scene is not about how hot a character is, or how horny another character is, sex has no place in that scene.

user, why are you trying to outdo OP's retardation?

>It's not because of Americans.

Stopped reading here. Do some research.

hardcore porn is gag worthy trash. CheescakeFTW

We apparently have a full blown neurologist on Sup Forums

Joe Rogan could kick my ass, but I laugh at his jokes.

I can think of a number of female comics I find attractive and can laugh at their jokes.

If you have no space in your brain for anything else when the slightest amount of intimidation or sex enter it, then I'd say that is a problem you should get looked at, and not the normal human behavior.

If you are just talking about tone being consistent in narrative, then sure. But there are also people who can incorporate dissimilar tones to clever effects. Edgar Wright comes to mind.

Future (hopefully not current) serial sexual predator right here.

>your nipples are hard. how am I supposed to pity a woman with nipples? you brought this down upon yourself.

I remember the days when Sup Forums was love. When we could discuss comics we'd actually read. When we were hype for comic books and cartoons and there wasn't a ton of threads about soap operas masquerading as comic book shows on tv. Back when people understood that people bouncing around in bright, ridiculous costumes in unrealistic body types with ridiculous names performing outrageous feats was fun escapism. Before comics became dull boring lifeless panel layouts designed to ape tv camera formats and every panel was a rectangle like a tv script storyboard. Before comics were basically just Poser screencaps with a filter on. Before politics became more important than adventure. Back when mutants were a subtle commentary on marginalised groups and we didn't need to outrightly have marginalised groups AS the characters because people understood nuance. When you could be a writer or artist and write/draw a book about people from a different culture and nobody gave a shit so long as the story was good. Before movie synergy killed off loved properties. Back when the F4 were a fun family instead of being shut down because a different company owned the movie rights. Before costumes weren't designed to be cosplay friendly so they could get free advertising from all the con selfies. Back when comics were about being heroic, not advertising political agendas.

Sup Forums is dead. Love is dead. Only Sup Forumsmblr remains.

The time you are talking about didn't exist.

Maybe it was a bit better back then. But all the shit you dislike was still there.

Even when Sup Forums was love, it was still filled with a lot of trash.

>there are also people who can incorporate dissimilar tones to clever effects
not with sex
if you think wright did that because he mixed comedy and fear, he didn't, because Shaun of the Dead is not scary. The guys of Cabin in the Woods did that, by separating both of them completely in different monotone beats.
>and can laugh at their jokes
I'm not talking about finding attractive. I'm talking about being horny. And Joe Rogan has not an intimidating face, Bill Clinton has.
>If you have no space in your brain for anything else when the slightest amount of intimidation or sex enter it, then I'd say that is a problem you should get looked at, and not the normal human behavior.
lol at your delusion

>trying to argue that we should keep jerking off to Victorias Secret catalogs instead of far superior internet porn.
It's not a bad idea, though. I think wanking to VS catalogues in the mid-90s was healthier than wanking to "superior" internet porn.

DESU yeah there is an argument that as the average age of comics readers move further and further into adulthood, it makes more sense for the women to be clothed more maturely.

But they've obviously gone too far in current comics. It's a bunch of nannying libtard white men acting like church ladies. Cho's Wonder Woman, for example, was perfectly healthy and attractive without being prurient. Greg Rucka who attracts no audience wants her ankles covered up for "the children" and "the ladies" who are actually nonexistent in his readership anyway.

Having some superheroines resemble "softcore porn" is actually a great way to capture a young male audience. It's perfectly fine and healthy, too. If Psylocke still dressed like Psylocke, I bet there'd be more young X-readers.

I think you are wrong, I think it's more likely current......

You have some notable psychiatric problems on display right now.

Why would I be scared of Joe's face. its the fact that he is jacked and knows how to kick as hard as professional fighters that scares me.

Maybe if he was trying to tell me a joke while he was kicking me full force in the chest I'd be unable to laugh, but just him on stage, as an imposingly strong dude, I am able to laugh at his jokes,

If an attractive female comedian was grabbing at my crotch, I'd probably have a harder time laughing at her jokes than if she was just on stage showing a bit of cleavage as she does her act.

Also, the Edgar Wright example works in the opposite way. "WHY IS SOMEONE GETTING GORED AND EATEN ALIVE IN MY COMEDY FILM!"

It is a comedy, but there is some very non-comedic things happening in it. It isn't much of the other way around, like a horror movie with some jokes.

So yeah, you have a problem if you can't separate any amount of layered tonality in storytelling.

And you definitely have a problem if you get aroused or frightened and lose all other control of your senses.

eat shit.

You are just too retarded.

Somewhere there is a radiator in a basement getting the spoony treatment

I disagree man

bait 6/10

Only Americans are doing this, and as usual you are trying to spread your prudeness to the rest of the world, fuck off

>this pic has been posted at least a dozen times this year to start a thread
>mod has never noticed you can clearly see her nipple between her middle finger and ring finger

Are you telling me you never beat off to Spider-Man vs Electro? Sad!

I was actually leaving for class so yes, it was that urgent.
I don't have a problem with sexiness or sexy costumed ladies. I'm not some prude that wants all comics to be bland as possible. I'm just making a point that overly skimpy costumes are kind of stupid in current times.

There are plenty of examples of artists getting around the comics code by making costumes flesh colored and as tight as possible, furry characters that use fur as cloths ect ect. Why do we even need to try anymore? Just make the costume form fitting, good, and functional. Otherwise just go read some actual porn comics.

Stopped reading here.

>I don't really see that scenario disappearing entirely. There's always going to be someone bored and horny in some comic or animation work.

Especially now that awkward flirting will get you branded "harasser" and fired.

>I personally don't think there's a reason for a type of appeal
t. marvel shill

>I personally don't think there is a reason
no one personally fucking asked you, go ruin someone else's hobby you shitbag

Long story short sexy costumes are still needed. People want different things. The appeal of looking at a sexy picture that doesn't show everything is probably lost on you but a lot of people like it.

um, no.. . . .waving your dick at a co-worker will get you branded a harrasser......

maybe you dont understand flirting

>fired
Or Worse. The last girl I flirted with at work I ended up married to. ;)
