The Roughnecks series was pretty good and the WRITING is pretty realistic though the CGI aged badly. This movie simply goes full final fantasy which makes it an entertaining flick that's easily forgotten. Same thing happened with Resident Evil CGI animated movies.
They're just selling the cool factor without anything to build on.
