Fucking normies [UPDATE] Civil War (but not really though)

>Uni capeshit course intro etc

>Presentation of superhero v superhero conflicts
>interesting question "why superheroes fight each other"
>presentation is the most poorly researched
>"top fights are as follows":

Human Torch vs Submariner 1940
Hulk vs Thing 1964
Thor vs Silver Surfer 1968
Superman vs Spider-man 1976
Spider-man vs Wolverine 1987
Batman vs Punisher 1994
Superman vs Captain Marvel (SHAZAM) 1996(?)
Captain America vs Iron Man (2007)

>clearly taken from some clickbait article
>says human torch vs submariner is Johnny Storm vs Namor
>ignores Dark Knight Returns completely
>Says Batman v Punisher is the second time Marvel/DC ever crossed over
>Says Shazam is a marvel character

No actual conclusion or thesis, says that nobody loses because they always teamup

>Classes' first question why superheroines never fight

I was livid.

Clearly no one has read an issue where Sue Storm brags about almost killing the hulk

>Uni capeshit course intro

What were you expecting?

Curious, how much is your tuition? How much does it cost you per credit hour and how many hours is your comicbook class?

I'm simply fascinated to think that someone is going to be paying fees and interest *the rest of their life* to go chat about superhero theory. Dumbass, you can that right here for free, and even the average Sup Forums citizen is likely more knowledgeable on the subject than every single classmate, including the teacher.

40 year old you is going to kick your ass.

Hell, 25 year old you is going to shake his head in shame.

I am like 90% sure that Superman vs Captain Marvel is from Kingdom Come

>>clearly taken from some clickbait article
it was L I T E R A L L Y the first google result, that's hilarious

Good call, again the presenter didn’t specify.

user told us, he's fulfilling a course credit.

Holy shit
I guess they just skimmed it?

Why is there a comic course at your """""""uni"""""" Europoor?

DC All New Limited Collectors Edition C-58
1978

>Classes' first question why superheroines never fight

Actually pretty good question. Pretty hard to come up with equally iconic fights with female characters in them that had as big significance. Cyclops vs. Storm is one of the few rare ones.

the presenter dated it at 1996, and the article they ripped it from was talking about KC

>>Says Shazam is a marvel character

Goddammit. He's fallen far from being the biggest Superhero around.

>See stuff for a comics reading group at my Uni
>Decide to check it out and sign up to the mailing list
>Foolishly assume it will be a casual 'talk about what you like' thing
>First info came today
>''we're talking about representation this year, here is you're required reading, which will be a comic and a scholarly article every two weeks''

My main issue with it is that I really dont need the things I do in my off time trying to be another course.

what's the comic and the article

Sandman Vol. 5 and ''The Sand/wo/man: The Unstable Worlds of Gender in Neil Gaiman's Sandman Series.''

They provided the files at least.

The answer of course is Civil War 2 and any time She-hulk goes nuts

That sounds shitty, especially the articles you need to read alongside it.

I get how comics are an interpretive medium but jesus

>required reading for a club

>Johnny Storm
>1940

WEW

well if it's a comic reading and discussion group...

what do you think a book club is?

Of course your going to have readings, but “academic” articles and think pieces? Isn’t that why it’s a book club? To this that kind of discussion on your own?

>No Hulk vs Wolverine
Shit list

I assume it's to maintain a certain level of knowledge on the topic. If Sup Forums implemented a "You have to have actually read the comic you're discussing" you'd exclude 90% of the people here.

it's a decent starting point for a discussion, I suppose

>Spider-Man vs. Wolverine

That fight was ridiculously stupid. The Marvel Adventures fight with Pete wiping the floor with Logan was the true fight.

>but “academic” articles and think pieces?

I don't see an issue here. Such material is a good way to spark more high brow analytical discussion about the subject matter.

>If Sup Forums implemented a "You have to have actually read the comic you're discussing" you'd exclude 99.99% of the people here.
FTFY

Peter's a bitch.

Logan pls

Or you could just read minimum three comic books. Ever.

Supplementary reading is usually helpful to get better discussion going.

Oh I get it now, I thought it was just sort of a general comic discussion style of thing. I imagine that would be kind of difficult to organize and discuss properly if everyone read different things.
