Button Man Vol 1: The Killing Game Storytime

From the pages of 2000 AD comes the story of Harry Ex, a former soldier who becomes a "Button Man," a person willing to fight other people for money. The rules are simple: lose twice and you lose two fingers. Lose a third time, and you get executed.
Written by John Wagner and illustrated by the photo-realistic Arthur Ranson, this is Button Man: The Killing Game

FUCK
YES
I've been dying to read this, do you have a link to the scans/rips user?

...

Give me a second and I'll mirror them

...

I will save the introduction pages for the end, because I think they might have some spoilers

I have the Rebellion trade for this, this is some good shit folks.

...

I'm happy that they collected all the Ranson stuff, but the paper is a bit too glossy for my liking

I don't what what the order of links are, but here is all four volumes

Yeah, same with the Black and White Slaine stuff. Would've been better off using the phrasebook format they did with Dredd, Trooper, Nemesis, etc for the early stuff and switching the format when the comics went full painted.

*phone book*

...

I can deal with it, especially considering my my 2000ad knowledge comes from their trades and all the more Rebellion ones are like that. The older Dredd and Slaine collections I have are way different.

Man I love these magazine format pages.

...

Well, that's anticlimactic

Here's the exposition

As you may have figured out by now, this was not originally a 2000 AD story.
It was meant to be published in "Toxic," but the magazine rejected it after Ranson had already drawn six seven-page installments.

Yeah, I'm not /k/, but I don't think those are SMG's that Harry is holding

That last comment was meant for this page

I really like the lighting in this chapter

It's always fun to play "guess the photo model."
The bartender has a bit of a JFK thing going on

Normally I hate art which is very clearly photo referenced but Ranson just makes it work.

Thanks OP

Harry is a shit, and never pretends to be anything but.

Thanks!

His composition and paneling are excellent, he understands motion well too. Great artist.

To be fair EVERYONE is a shit in this.

That they are, that they are.
